General the rhythm of a close match
i notice pauses more when they keep breaking up the momentum between points. do they change the match for you, or is it just part of the tension?

Has anyone tried Calderano's double handed backhand?

Court and Sparks
The opinions expressed here are strictly those of a ping pong er…table tennis player telling you things you already know😊. Some observations from goats' forehand video comparison
Hi there. After watching this video, some more thoughts have arisen besides the video comments...Both Ma Long and Fan stay much more horizontal, and the right foot even seems to be a bit ahead of the left (this isn’t the posture our coaches teach us). During the body rotation, Ma Long turns on his right foot as an axis, whereas Fan keeps his right foot steady and helps himself with a rotation of the left ankle.
Overall, both achieve a decent hip-waist rotation, but they use different supporting mechanisms to do so...

I need a racket suggestion
Looking for a first proper setup: attacking player, budget 100$
Motivation to change gear
I started in 2024 at age 24. I played about six months with a premade Yuki racket, took a break, then played about three months with an Addoy racket. I want one consistent setup I can learn on, instead of switching between rackets. I don’t know the exact specs of my Addoy racket
Honest assessment of my current level
I’m still early-stage. I’m weak at tracking fast balls, countering topspin on the backhand, and reading spin on serve receive. My footwork and recovery also need work. I’ve mostly played weaker opponents, so I haven’t been tested much on spin reading. I can attack with the forehand, and I enjoy it.
Play style now and later
- Now: I try to attack with forehand topspin and finish with the smash. I often lose by misreading serves and spin, or by making errors on fast backhand exchanges.
- In a year or more: I want a reliable forehand loop and a stable backhand counter. I also want to add banana flicks and spin variation on the backhand, like Truls Möregårdh’s style.
Gear taste
I haven’t tried enough equipment to know whether I prefer hard or soft. I want to find out. I like spin and attacking, but I need enough control to handle fast balls. I’m not set on carbon or any particular brand.
Budget and location
- Budget: LKR 100$ total, covering blade, two rubbers
- Training: I work full-time as a software engineer. I train a few times a week, with short sessions at lunch and some evening practice.
Question: What blade and rubbers would you suggest for me within this budget, and should I prioritize control over speed at my stage?

Keeping rubbers warm when the weather cools down
Hi everyone,
I was practicing yesterday and the temperature in my country dropped over the last weeks, and I can feel I am not producing as much spin as before. Therm rubbers feel harder and because the hall was cold I think it impacted me and also others. Is there a way to keep rubbers warm? Breathing to them? ....am I just being silly?

Discussion Breaking news: World Ranking leader Sora Matsushima loses to an non-ranked Sri Lankan without even entering the match in the Round of 64 at the Asian Championships... Another withdrawal from the weakest WR #1 in modern table tennis history.
Seems that Sora lacks that fighter spirit the great Wang Chuqin has and a loss to Korean B team pretty much broke his mental for this tournament. The Asian Championships pressure is real, but not every player can handle it. What a pity.

Equipment Fixing a racket with a creative way of using equipment.
Racket broke and had to be creative fixing it.. used the net as a press and some pieces of rubber to protect the handle. Enjoy.

Pictures/Videos This dropshot is unbelievable....
to the ppl who always say "why doesn't the smasher just drop the ball short" well to make it simple, what this guy does in this video is so majorly difficult that it requires INSANE feeling to pull off and also a disguise to fool ur opponent into thinking ur smashing again which is probably the hardest skill to even get decently consistent at (after Forehand flicks)

Anyone here who plays a conventional style with a thick balsa blade? If so, why?
It’s really prevalent in my local league. I tried a bat and it feels very strange, but not unpleasant. I’ve not really got any good answers for why it is prevalent here though. Can anyone tell me what they like about them? Like Victas 8.0mm with a butterfly 09c for example.

Education/Coaching Technique Inconsistancy
My backhand side is really good, but yesterday I was unconsciously doing it in a different way. And that was enough to make me lose most of my games. How can I fix the correct movement into my mind?
Details:
I'm a teenager;
That day I played soccer in the afternoon, but wasn't tired at night when I was trainning;
My spine was hurting a little when I turned it too far to the left, but this shouldn't make much of a difference because I don't turn my torso on the backhand, it's most the arm's and leg's work;
I arrived late and didn't have time to strech my legs and shoulders(something I normally do);
I have been training for 7 months but I'm like top 4 of my "class";
My backhand isn't punchy, I like to use wrist and a whipping motion.

Buying Guide Advice for someone who has outgrown their old bat
I have outgrown my old table tennis bat it is shown in the pictures attached it had a good amount of control but lacked speed and spin. I think I have overstayed with this bat for quite a while I’ve been playing for about 2 and a half years and in my last league I had a 70% win rate I’d say I’m about an intermediate level I’d like to look for a bat with a decent amount of speed and spin I don’t really mind too much about control id like to grow into the new bat so I’d like it too be slightly above my level my play style is very forehand focused I have strong loops and drives and play aggressive I am very consistent on my forehand my backhand is not as consistent but I have good flicks and pushes with my backhand and I use a shake hand grip with a flared blade handle. I’d like a bat seller that puts the bat together for me as I don’t know how to put one together myself I wouldn’t like a pre-made bat as I’ve not heard such great things from them.
Feel free to ask questions about my playstyle etc
Thanks
(Budget £85)
