Spoilers I finished Carrie and Im so mad lol.
Halfway through I thought "since Flanagan never misses, he should adapt The Shining next."
Now I just picture Katie Segel's character showing up to the overlook with a hair dryer and thawing out Jack Torrance to recruit him.
I so wish they didn't hijack Carrie at the conclusion. Im genuinely baffled at the lack of disappointment from fans. I enjoyed ALL season but this finale.
I was actually excited with just about every liberty, even the institute-like accomplices, but Carrie's pseudo-possession, Chris's last minute apology, Margaret White SURVIVING the house collapse? C'mon yall. It all feels so "second season incoming" and that undermines the entire point of what Carrie is. I feel as pissed as at the end of Halloween 2018 when Laurie leaves Michael to burn lol.
In defense of the show its my mistake for thinking it was a limited series, but man. Narrative suffering for the sake of longevity. Its unfortunate.
So thanks for letting me vent I guess. Im going to start the Dark Tower audiobooks now because I was saving them for later in life but now scared shitless so gonna knock them out.

Discussion Sissy Spacek herself truly appreciated Summer H. Howell’s performance in the new Carrie series♥️
Can I just say that this brings me so much joy?
It’s wonderful how the older generation supports the new one in this way 🥲

Discussion Doctor Sleep right after The Shining?
Literally just finished The Shining a few minutes ago as of writing this.
Should I jump straight into Doctor Sleep?
OR
Are there other books that connect directly with DS and TS that I need to read first?
Also The Shining is not scary at all. Why do people keep saying it’s scary? I’ve never been scared of a book ever. I felt more intrigued like I was Jacky T trying to piece together the mysteries of the Overlook.

Discussion Just finished this. Was quite a ride! What were your thoughts on this book?
Was a little slow for me at first but picked up nicely. Happy to have read and finished it.

a Stephen King footnote buried deep in House of Leaves (Mark Z. Danielewski)
I’ve been detouring my King binge to read this book that’s been on my shelf for years; it’s an experimental novel about a found manuscript about a house, littered in footnotes and “sources” — this particular chapter about a labyrinth, so of course the text on the page becomes a maze of a labyrinth itself — and was delighted through my tedious page flipping to find a King story mentioned. The Shining also got a mention in another similar footnote.

Discussion I'm enjoying reading it and I can't stop reading it.
I confess that I’ve never been much of a book fan, but when I finished Blood Meridian, it reminded me of It, I bought the book because reading a PDF while listening to the audiobook strains my eyes
I’m on chapter 8, and I never imagined I’d feel such discomfort and tension regarding Pennywise he’s given me the creeps on a few pages. I’ve also really enjoyed the interaction between Beverly and Richie,And I also feel like I’m in the town of Derry; I know I should have read other books before IT to get to know King’s universe, but IT has been really good so far.
I found the beginning a bit slow, but once I got further in, I couldn't stop reading. Because of this book, I ended up buying The Shining (I’m trying to contain my excitement about starting it)

I love this Signet era
It was before every option at Barnes and Noble was either a larger paperback for $10+ OR a trade paperback that’s $20+
But mainly because these were the books being printed and sold when I fell in love with reading. Hoping to have a copy of each of them someday

My experience with It
This is about my 10th Stephen King book read with my eyeballs, and I was a little worried that knowing the story and having seen the movies and TV adaptations would negatively affect the experience. Happy to report that couldn’t have been further from the truth. This might have taken over the top spot as my favorite book I’ve ever read.
My experience with this one has been a little unique. I’m 36, so I’m right around the age of the older Losers. I have three sons, two of whom are 10 and 12, and my wife and I have recently decided to give them a little more freedom. For now, that freedom has come in the form of letting them explore our neighborhood on their bikes. It’s bittersweet to watch those 2 little losers ride away.
Something about reading this book this fall, with my kids at these ages and myself right around the age of the adult Losers, has made this experience extra special. It’s hard to explain, but I have a feeling this sub will understand exactly what I mean.

Could King's new book "1968" be a version of Sword in the Darkness?
In his recent Locus interview, King said:
I'm working on something now that's called 1968. 1968 is something that I wrote, originally, in 1968, when I was 20 years old. I had just broken up with a girl and it was a place to go, a make-believe place where I could retreat from my pain. Nobody feels emotional pain like a 20-year-old - except maybe a 15-year-old! So, I wrote this long book, and I thought, 'This is not a very good book,' and I never looked at it again. Then, when I finally did, I decided, 'Yeah, it's okay. Maybe I can do something with it.' I might, and I might not. I'm trying!
Comparing this with what King wrote in On Writing about his early unpublished novel Sword in the Darkness, I wonder if 1968 could actually be a version of that manuscript.
What do you think? Could these be the same book?

My King Shelf
Last week, I finished Other Worlds Than These, officially bringing my journey through Stephen King’s bibliography to a close. I also wanted to share a photo of my bookshelf because, honestly, it means a lot more to me now than it did a few months ago.
Our house flooded over the summer, and miraculously, my entire book collection survived. After months of repairs, living in hotels and an Airbnb with a little one and another baby on the way, we’re finally getting our home back together. Yesterday, I was finally able to put my entire King collection back on the shelf, and seeing it all together again just makes me incredibly happy. Bonus painting that one of my students did for me; still looking for a good spot to put it.
Anyway, I figured this would also be a good opportunity to share my personal ranking of King’s works. I know there are some controversial placements in here.
Be nice, please!

Fan Art Named our campervan after a S.K item!
Just got the last bits done to our campervan conversion. My wife and I were trying to give it a name, and she loves tortoises and turtles.
Well, we realised that turtles and tortoises can stop and hide in their shells wherever they like, kinda like a campervan....so we went for the tortoise idea...
Then I remembered the D.T segment about the scrimshaw turtle, and well, we were in Sweeden when we where thinking of the name, and I explained to my wife about the "Skölpadda", and she loved the name!
So here is our van! Our Skolpadda!
Hope this is ok to post and any other S.K fans appreciate it =)

Discussion Just a short rant about Little Sisters of Eluria
It is an actual legitimate criminal crime that Little Sisters is not available on its own.
Yes, I know about the collector’s edition that goes for about 4000 dollars. Don’t want that. Just a plain ass little novella, about Elevation sized that I can put next to the rest of my Dark Tower books.
I feel like it’s not too much to ask.
That’s all. Just wanted to gripe about that.

No Spoilers from me but, I finished the new book last night, say thank ya
Last Night I finished reading Other Worlds Than These by Stephen King and Peter Straub
No spoilers as the book only came out 2 weeks ago but, I feel like it was a great cap off to The Talisman series the authors started so many years ago.
My next King journey will be the excruciatingly long Under The Dome book which ironically was the last "Brand New" King book I ever bought when it was originally released.
Happy Reading Everyone!

General Tesco deal in UK on Other worlds than these
Went to Tesco yesterday and picked this up for £12.50 with Clubcard discount (£14 without Clubcard) so a lot cheaper than Waterstones and other retailers.
