Meta I've been banned, why?
Good day everyone!
The mod team has noticed a drastic uptick in insult bot behavior in the sub. I understand reading can be difficult, but of our few rules in place the one that sees the most action is the no personal insults aka Rule 2.
We've been exceedingly lenient with reminders and a dash of warnings. However, the issue persists and pops up in site wide posts that draw in non regular users. Since this is kind of harshing the vibe we're temporarily pausing reminders and warnings and going into straight 7 day bans.
What does personal insult mean?
Any sort of insult directed at the user themselves in response to a comment.
What isn't a personal insult?
Insulting public figures, people not directly related to the conversation thread, etc.
For instance, you can say dems/republicans/breatharianism are idiots. If you're talking to a dem/republican/breatharianism you cannot call them an idiot.
Debate the position or policy, do not disparage the user.

I’ve been seeing signage in public to vote yes on initiative 645 to help schools, but isn’t voting yes doing the opposite?
I’m trying to do the research necessary about what this entails, but all I see is no real answer and just biased opinions. Is this actually as bad as it sounds? Will this actually just give millionaires a tax break meanwhile schools suffer if I vote yes? Or am I being lied too?

Real Estate Stillaguamish Tribe wraps up its largest-ever salmon restoration project - $15 million, 230 acres of floodplain, and 21 years into a 50-year recovery plan
A final meeting between project managers and tribe members last week wrapped up the Stillaguamish Tribe's largest project to date, restoring more than 230 acres of floodplain along two miles of the North Fork Stillaguamish River. The $15 million restoration was the first joint project between the Stillaguamish Tribe and Snohomish County, said Jason Griffith, the tribe's environmental program manager, during a tour.
"The plan is a 50-year plan, so we were under no delusions that it was going to be fast," Griffith said. "But the tribe has been consistently purchasing land the last 20 years or so with the aim of ecosystem recovery to benefit Chinook and other treaty resources."
~ That ground was a nursery, a dairy farm, a beef ranch and a golf course before it was a floodplain again. Twenty years of buying it back parcel by parcel, on a timeline nobody ran for reelection on.

Real Estate Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe's reservation will nearly double in Land Back deal - nearly 1,100 acres uncovered by dam removal, and the first land returned to the tribe since its 1855 treaty
The dam removal also uncovered nearly 1,100 acres of federal lands that the tribe is now getting ready to reclaim. Congress passed a bill this fall enabling the transfer. Once completed, it will nearly double the tribe's reservation.
Once approved, it will be the first time since the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe signed a treaty with the federal government in 1855 that lands have returned to it.
~ The tribe did the restoration work for decades and is only now being handed oversight of it. That order of operations says a lot.

Discussion "Ludwig is Everywhere" posters
Does anyone know what these posters are about or who put them up? I saw it today on Bainbridge Island, but I swear I remember seeing them in Seattle a while back.

While Nick Shirley apparently went to the wrong store, there appears to be plenty to choose from. Food stamp/SNAP benefits/EBT fraud is alive and well in the greater Seattle area.

Question Is it just common for landscapers to leave trimmings behind?
Title pretty much says it all. Been in Seattle about 5 months and I have noticed landscapers tend to leave trimmings behind? Especially with mowed lawns they just leave the grass vs raking it up?
Recently we had our property manager send someone out to trim up some weeds. Not only do I think they were super over aggressive about it but I recently figured out they just threw everything behind our fence.
Is this just a thing out here? I would think this would cause issues given how often it rains. Are residents just expected to take care of it since everyone has a green bin?
Please, before I get chastised for being unaware, I'm genuinely just curious and am open to understanding where I may be missing something.

Curious about public transit
Hi!
My boyfriend and I are visiting from Louisville, Kentucky right before Christmas. In Louisville, our public transit is sketchy as hell and is pretty much avoided by all who can. We were looking at renting a car, but are curious is public transit is enough to get around town and just rent a car for our day trip to the Christmas market a couple hours away.
Anyone have any thoughts that may help us out?
We will be visiting Dec 18-22
