i posted recently about the devastating loss of my little lucy girl after 15 years together. i still grieve her every single day but i realized i was making the hole in my heart bigger by sitting in my quiet house alone so i opened my heart a bit and welcomed this sweet boy into my life.

there are moments where i hold him and ache for her to be the one in my lap but i remind myself that she wouldn’t want me as miserable as i was. i’m so happy he’s here, even though i wish she was too. he’s already loved so deeply and has established that i’m his person.

the switch from declining senior dog to 10 week old puppy is so hard to adjust to. i feel like im constantly surveying the little guy for potential ailments and he looks at me like “i’m just a baby!” he’s such a little angel boy. i’m so grateful that i didn’t close off my heart to being loved as deeply as my sweet soul girl did for half of my life. 🐾🩷

Has anyone here introduced a kitten to the family with a Rattie? Do they get along? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

It amazes me, at 6 months old, the skills he shows that just come naturally. He covers the entire yard to the weed lines every time he goes out. Sidenote; he always gets just behind those weeds to go potty, don't know if that's a marking thing, or a clean yard thing to him. Maybe he's just shy 😂.

Today is my beautiful babies 3rd birthday!!

WHAT BREED IS HE?! RAT TERRIER MIX? CHIHUAHUA? JACK RUSSELL? ALL OF THE ABOVE? He is SO high energy and loves everything and everyone, but still loves to snuggle. (Why his legs so god dang long?)

I’m looking for bed recommendations to put in my dogs crate. She’s a rough chewer and recently started destroying her bed, like having way too much fun in her crate ripping apart her bed.

For those who might think “just don’t put a bed in there” I have reason not to follow this route, explained below!!

I adopted her in January and her bed has been in her crate since then. She has not touched it until the past couple of weeks. She is on full rest per vet’s orders, so I think the combo of not feeling herself and her exercise needs not being met is really upsetting her lil terrier brain. I really want to keep her comfortable. Also, not having her needs met makes it incredibly hard for her to settle outside of her crate. She only sleeps in her crate.

If there’s a rougher bed that might survive better than the one we have now, I’d love to hear it. Even anything that isn’t necessarily marketed as a dog bed - if it’s worked for you please share!

Our 10 yr old had a bug bite on his back leg near his paw, but he licked and licked it until it’s now irritated and raw. We put a cone on him, but because it’s his back leg he can still reach it. Everytime it starts healing he licks it over night and we start again. The cone from the vet is shorter than the one we have. I have tried looking for an extender that makes the cone longer but apparently this isn’t a thing, although it really should be! What has worked for everyone?
