Finally, I found a way to block the AF assist lamp on MX1
I love this camera but not able to disable the AF assist lamp is just annoying and I don’t want to just locked with the “candid mode”.

Fungus or crazing in the plastic or coatings?
Just going over my new-to-me junk K10D and noticed these marks in the viewfinder and at the side of the LCD. Could these be fungus or crazing in the plastic caused by over-exuberant use or cleaning?

Pentax MX1 - I really hope Ricoh will make a modern version of it.
The mono mode is amazing.

Pentax k1000 question
Hi everyone I’m looking into getting a k1000. I’ve heard there’s 3 variations. Made in Japan; made in Hong Kong and made in China. I’m seeking the Made in Japan version. Is there a tell tale sign it’s made in Japan? Is it stamped by the S/N? I can’t find any references of Japan stamping in my searches. I have however seen variations with made in China on the bottom, and assembled in HK, near the spool release. Wondering if there’s no stamping near there or it doesn’t specify if it’s from HK, or CHN is it automatically to be presumed Japanese made? Any info would be appreciated.

Stores in Mexico City that carry Pentax 17?
Hi, does anyone know if there are any stores in Mexico City where I can buy a new Pentax 17? Only looking for stores with actual storefronts since I am not here long enough for a mail-order. Thanks!

The 6x7 has quickly taken the place of my favorite camera
I started out on an ME-Super, then I bought a KS-2 for a fun digital, but after acquiring a 6x7, they both seem to sit on a shelf. Big mirror go brrrr, big negative makes me happy, and big camera makes me feel small in comparison.
Thoughts about Pentax mirrorless
After using my old Pentax lenses on a full-frame Nikon Z and realizing how well that actually works, while still preferring the Pentax UI... it got me thinking: Pentax has kind of painted themselves into a corner / catch-22 with mirrorless. there's no money to build out a lineup of mirrorless lenses, but at the same time there's no point building a mirrorless body if there are no lenses for it.
(Yes, I know it's a long shot given what Pentax has been saying lately...)
I think the ultimate move would be:
- Build a compact, feature-packed mirrorless with all the usual clever Pentax features
- Make it native L-mount, to get instant access to a wide range of good, modern, mirrorless lenses
- Launch it together with a really smart PK --> L adapter
- maybe AF for (some) AF lenses
- aperture control for lenses without an aperture ring
- automatic focal length detection, if possible
- Make sure the camera is THE ultimate mirrorless for MF with classic glass
Curious what you all think?

I am in love with film
A few weeks ago I got my Super-A and it's been with me almost every time I go out. Shot a few rolls through it using the Pentax A 50mm f1. 4. Here's a few photos I took with Fuji 400.
