I am a 44yo Graphic Designer/ Creative director who just started painting. I am going to post my paintings here to hopefully get good feedback and technical advice on them from the talented community. This was on a 12x16 canvas and what I learned is that I should have gone much bigger because at this stage I don't really have the skill to do tiny people. But that makes it great because I def learned something. The size of the canvas vs. what I was painting never crossed my mind before this. In design the closest thing is being able to read copy, but even still this never crossed my mind until i was trying to paint a bikini with one strand of a brush, and the lettering took much longer than I would liek to admit, even though it never really came out perfect. anyway let me know what you think!

Been painting for a few months, decided to put together my first collection inspired by my experiences and things that confuse me as an autistic male. The first painting is called Do as I say and give me your money. The second painting is called Give me your money, do as I say. Feedback welcome

Logo I painted from my wife’s design, we’re both on our local Pride board and this is what we used for our Pride fest this past summer.
I’d thought tI’d share since this sub has been popping up and I love seeing everyone else’s work!!
Watercolor was the painting media i fell in love with, and all it’s varieties. Everything from using pen drawings on heavy cold press paper, full sheet diptychs and triptychs, using a modified egg tempra technique, etc. there’s something about the luminosity of the page and the color of the paint and how to make them work that just scratches that itch JUST right. lol

my latest rainy window painting titled, “halcyon”. this piece was inspired by the early childhood memories of drawing on a rainy window during autumn. this piece serves as a reminder of childhood memories and having those little pockets of peace after a rainy autumn day🍁🤍.
nostalgic pieces are definitely my favorites to create, and something about fall pairs so well with that feeling to me. hope this brought back a memory for you!

This is a large painting (75x100cm) and was completed over the course of about 6 months :
It was based on a number of drawings and sketches and a digital version that I posted here about 6 months ago .
It was painted using a grid system where I broke the digital painting (which was also gridded) down into squares and then could deal with each square one at a time .

I recently underwent spinal surgery, and while recovering, I decided to paint something as a thank-you gift for my surgeon.
I titled it “The Weight We Carry.”
It’s my interpretation of Atlas holding the weight of the world, with an exposed spine and small gold repairs symbolizing healing.
I used acrylics, modeling paste, imitation gold leaf, and tiny accents of silver leaf. I wanted to combine bold geometric color blocking with the organic texture of the sphere.
This was definitely a labor of love (and I spent an embarrassing amount of time obsessing over his head and shoulders).
I’m still learning and experimenting with my painting style, but I’m really happy with how this one turned out. I’d love to hear what other acrylic painters think!
