NJ Politics Voter ID??
Just early voted in Bergen County and I was told to show ID by the woman at the desk. After giving her a look, another worker ended up coming up to her and telling her she couldn’t demand to see ID.
Be wary folks.

Photo Bella Swan is looking for a forever home!
Meet Bella Swan! This 8 month old, 40 pound princess is ready for a new chapter!
Bella Swan originally hails from the NY ACC, but is excited to be in a foster home in Jersey City!
Bella can be timid at first and warms up quickly to her human companions! With proper introductions, she's also playful with her canine friends! She is always looking for attention and love!
Bella Swan has typically puppy energy and will benefit from continued positive reinforcement training. She is a smart cookie who would love to go on hikes with you! After her hike, she'll need to cuddle you on the couch!
Jacob is asking "where have you been, Loca??" because you haven't applied to adopt our sweet Bella Swan, yet!
Bella Swan's spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all core vaccines.

There is some kind of bomb threat at turtleback zoo early voting .
Police will not say what it is or how long the delay is. Seems fishy to me.
I hope the police have a plan if someone for example uses an AI agent to send threats every day.

Sad 😢 After burning thru my severance package and unemployment insurance to be a caregiver for my terminal ill family member, it is a hard reality to accept for 2027, I am considered qualified for medicaid.
After burning thru my severance package and unemployment insurance to be a caregiver for my terminal ill family member, it is a hard reality to accept for 2027 as I am filling out my NJ Market Health Plan, that I am considered qualified for medicaid, because in 2026 I earned less than 22K.
Thank goodness for emergency fund and a parent who still allow me to have a roof over my head.
For clarity: just two years ago, I was almost making 95K.
Rainy day funds is a must in this economy. If you can save. Save!

NJ Politics Early Voting Starts Today
Please get out and vote! Early voting is secure and available in every county starting today.
If you moved and need to vote Provisional, early voting is a great time to do so. Fewer people at the polls and plenty of staff to assist.

Weed 🌿 Why can cops consume cannabis, but healthcare workers can’t?
A question I’m trying to understand. I’ve read legislation that has protected or allowed cops to be able to have access to consume cannabis and still maintain their employment, but with healthcare workers, there’s this gray area that is almost entirely discouraged.
How come a cop, who wields weapons and is trained to de-escalate high stress situations is allowed to consume, but healthcare workers like nurses cannot?

WTF The immigration customs enforcement teams are hitting the primary minority communities hard.
The immigration customs enforcement teams are hitting the primary minority communities hard. They have at least showed up at the local Home Depot parking lot three times this week. And I was told yesterday immigration customs enforcement actually went inside Home Depot and walked up and down the aisles.
When I heard that immigration, Customer enforcement actually went inside the Home Depot and walk up and down the aisles I was in shock.

Interesting Massive Power Outage in Western Morris and Warren counties
Like the title says. Currently a massive power outage in this area. Every time I check the map another red patch appears.
All the spots are currently marked, “Additional crews requested - Due to the complexity of the repairs additional resources are required to safely restore power.”
Anyone got any other information or details?
Update: For anyone in/around Mt Olive: https://www.nj.com/morris/2026/10/major-outage-leaves-over-half-of-nj-town-without-power-friday-night.html
Update: Outages in Hackettstown and Allamuchy currently marked “Equipment Damage” whatever that might mean.

Interesting Rutgers and 1952 Nobel Prize Controversy
"In 1943, Albert Schatz, a young PhD student at New Jersey's Rutgers Agricultural College, was working on a wartime project testing bacteria from farmyard soil when he discovered streptomycin, a new antibiotic that was the first effective drug against the global killer tuberculosis. Schatz’s professor, Selman Waksman, claimed all credit for the discovery, calling Schatz a mere bench worker, and secretly enriched himself with royalties once the drug was patented by pharmaceutical manufacturer Merck. Schatz fought back in what was one of the most vicious battles ever for credit of a major scientific discovery. Schatz won the title of "co- discoverer" and a share of the royalties, but, in 1952, Waksman alone was awarded a Nobel Prize. Schatz disappeared into academic obscurity."

NJ History Happy 95th birthday to the George Washington Bridge, opened on this date in 1931. Fun fact: A 19-year-old pilot made an emergency landing in 1966 after his plane's engine failed; at the time, there was no median barrier on the bridge's upper deck

WTF Asian lady beetles (ladybug cousins)
Normally in late October I get tons of these bugs on my screens and inside my screen porch, but I haven't had a sighting yet this year. Is anyone else noticing fewer of these? Or maybe their appearance is imminent.

Advice Travel Recommendations from Midtown NYC to McGuire AFB (New Hanover NJ) for Christmas
Hey! I live in Midtown Manhattan and I'm going to be traveling to McGuire AFB in NJ to visit family for Christmas.
I'm planning on taking the train out of the city towards Westchester or somewhere in Northeastern NJ to rent a car to head over to the AFB.
Embarrassingly, my knowledge of how to get around in this part of the tristate area between trains/rental cars isn't great since I usually stay within the boroughs, so I'd welcome any/all suggestions about how to handle the logistics of this trip (especially since it'll be at peak travel time during the holidays).
Thank you all in advance!

Advice Firewood near Mahlon Dickerson reservation
I’m headed to Mahkon Dickerson reservation from the city and want to pick up some firewood on the way - any suggestions on where I might be able to do that?
Maybe a gas station or five-and-dime on the way?
(The wood stand by the tent camper section is always empty unless you get there early on a Friday - not sure if I could be confident to find some across the road at the rv section?)
Thank you!

Advice Affordable tennis lessons and places to practice near Fort Lee?
I live in Fort Lee, and tennis lessons around here are mad expensive. Does anyone know of more affordable options in Bergen County or nearby counties? I’m willing to drive a bit for cheaper lessons.
Also, are there any public outdoor courts or practice walls you’d recommend for a beginner? Thanks!
