VIDEO I Started a New Challenge Run Called "Instant Death Hardcore" This is How ME1 Went...
This is a new trilogy run I'm doing for the trilogy where bullets do WAY more damage and I basically get melted if I'm in the open for too long. And this is only on Hardcore difficulty, so I'm sure Insanity will be a lot of fun once I get there.
I wanted to share how ME1 went! Today I'm starting ME2, which is obviously the one I'm most worried about, as I'm sure you all know how brutal that game can be. I'm expecting lots of death...
If you'd like to come see me attempt to survive, I'll be streaming my journey over here on Twitch! Feel free to pop your head in or come say hi!

MODS Heaven or hell: Mod for LE1
I made a mod for Mass Effect Legendary Edition. It's the first mod I've ever made, and I'd really appreciate it if you could try it out.
It's pretty simple: with this mod, everyone dies in one shot, Including Shepard's companions, it's inspired by the Heaven or Hell mode from Devil May Cry.
It shouldn't have compatibility issues with any other modes, unless someone tells me otherwise.
And if it goes well, then I'll make the mod for the other games and Hell or Hell. I have plans to make a mod that adds a new mission with the Batarians.

DISCUSSION Mass Effect Hangover - how do people cope?
A bit of background first - I've been an ME fan since the first game, and enjoyed playing each of them as they were released. I replayed them all shortly after my initial ME3 playthrough but then for a variety of reasons, I haven't been able to go back to the games until recently.
I bought and played LE, finishing it about a week ago - I can't overstate how much fun I had playing it, probably the most fun I've had played a game for the last 10 years, and it's made me remember why I loved ME in the first place.
However, the hangover is absolutely killing me. Since I've finished, I have genuinely felt absolutely rotten and depressed. I've tried some fan fic, which has helped (I'm a Talimancer and there is some great stuff out there for that) but I still feel awful. How do people cope with this? Does it last this long for everyone?
I'm not necessarily expecting any magic replies to solve this, and in a way just posting this is quite cathartic and has helped a little - but it would be nice to know I'm not alone with this.

DISCUSSION So if you side with the Geth, the Quarians are basically guaranteed extinct, right?
Considering majority would be on the ships above their homeworld, and the remainder would probably be on the Citadel, even if the Reapers lose, they're pretty much fucked, right?

MASS EFFECT 3 Shepard, Tom Clancy style, lol
My Shepard always wore this style of clothing to maintain his humanity amidst the chaos of war, but I really liked seeing him wearing it in the DLC mission when he faced the clone. It looked like another Tom Clancy-style video game lol

There are, of course, the possibility of a lot of sad deaths in the game.

SHOW & TELL ME2 Adept - Korlus Insanity
Here some parts of the Korlus mission to showcase the tips & tactics I used on a previous post about Archangel’s mission. As with that mission, here on Korlus, you should automatically do the following things: observe the layout and enemy positions, prioritize high cover first, and identify the main threat.
I also chose Korlus this sounds like the worst kind of mission for the Adept: most enemies have shields, they attack from long range while you only have a pistol of SMG, and it’s a pre-Horizon mission, so unlike a Tech user, you won’t have the 30% power cooldown.
General tips
- You may have also noticed in the last post and in here, I often do a quick peek but don’t attack. This is to A) bait enemies out of cover and B) draw heat away from my squamates.
- Blue Suns Heavies are the biggest threat on Korlus, especially when they come in pairs. Their homing rockets punishes the player when they stay out of cover too long, or punishes squadmates if the player becomes too timid. There are also two types: the helmet one and the helmet-less. The latter is a version with more shields and health.
- As an Adept, especially one that focuses on Heavy Singularity, your job is to pin down enemies with that power, strip their defenses so they float, and you detonate them. You are a bomber. Your squadmates are your support to make your bombing happen.
Part 1
Opening the door right after the Sniper Rifle upgrade
Most players will put squadmates away from the door so they won’t get hit by the two Heavies. What most players miss is that the Heavy on the right uses a fragile crate as cover. Destroy that crate ASAP, because it is blocking your targeting acquisition system from reaching that Heavy. Once that’s destroyed, you can quickly call squadmate powers on her.
The Kill Zone before the entering to the next level
As you proceed after dealing with the Heavies, you’ll enter an area with tables with a big doorway that leads to another open area that you can only pass through a walkway on the left side. This is a kill zone, where Heavies and Legionnaires will be waiting for you, along with regular soldiers flanking you when they come out of the door. To get through this safely, send your squdmates away and deal with the initial attackers one-by-one. Use high covers to block out other attacks so you can focus on dealing with one enemy at a time.
Part 2
Entering the second level
I choose to enter the room and use the high cover to block all other attacks so I can deal with one enemy, kill him, and advance to take over his cover spot.
As an Adept, I use quick-peaking to bait the heavies, I set them up as the first chain of my biotic detonations. Every detonation stuns and damages other enemies nearby, which makes it even easier to strip their defenses and set them to detonate again and again.
The bridge
Another Kill Zone, so send you squadmates out of the Heavies’ line of sight. Deal with the pair of shotgunners and regular soldiers that flank you first, and then advance from cover to cover on the bridge in order to keep the enemies fixated on you and not on your squadmates. In my case, I didn’t pop out of cover enough, so Zaeed got taken down by the rockets.
Part 3
Facing Jedore
This is less of a strategy and more of a policy of mine: I have to punch Jedore in the face. It doesn’t matter what class, difficulty to style of play, I just have to punch her.
In all seriousness, regardless if you choose to fight close or long range, the key that makes this fight easy is to keep the Krogan alive so they don’t respawn. If you have Cryo Ammo or Cryo Blast, this is the best moment to use it. If you don’t have them, then you should bring Mordin along. I didn’t bring Mordin, so I’m doing this the hardest way. My approach was to radgoll the Krogan first, then charge right into Jedore. I place a Singularity behind me in cast the Krogan followed (it did).
The YMIR won’t attack you under this condition: if the Krogan isn’t dead, if you approach Jedore’s platform after the YMIR has walked to the far side, and you attack Jedore at close range and she’ll retreat towards the YMIR. I believe the YMIR was programmed to avoid friendly fire if the platform becomes too crowded with friendlies. This is just one of those things you find out when you play enough CQC builds.

DISCUSSION Thoughts on Udina.
So, after a break from ME, I finally started a brand new playthru of the trilogy. I just reached ME3 and talked to Udena like always at the beginning and a thought occurred to me. Yes, he's an asshole and is definitely not a favorite of mine. However, when talking to him after the first counsel meeting, he genuinely seems to be trying to help out both Shepard and humanity. And maybe if Cerberus hadn't been whispering in his ear, he could have had a good redemption arc in ME3. Does him betraying the rest of the council just to help humanity make him a good person? No, not by a long shot. And him working with Cerberus just makes me hit the renegade interrup even harder but maybe it could have been done with good intentions? I don't know, but I definitely think that there is more to the man than we get to see in the games.
TLDR, despite being a dick of the highest regards, I do think that under all of the arrogance and pride, there may very well have been a somewhat decent man underneath.
Maybe I'm wrong but it's something that I've been thinking about and was wondering what everyone else thought about the man.

DISCUSSION Character swap, Sgt. Johnson vs Commander Shepard.
Swap these two at the beginning of their journeys.
Sgt. Johnson is leading the away team on Eden Prime
Commander Shepard is giving a pep talk to the Marines on the Pillar of Autumn getting ready for boarding by the covenant.
Which ones, using their battle know how, leadership skills and Charisma makes it further through each other's story lines?
Better question, would Wrex and Johnson get along?
