Its been great for the most part!
Only so much i can do while renting
I’ve tried to keep the minimal look but make it a little more “homey”
The rug is not the colour i want but it will do for now!
The TV is still on the wall a year later which is always a bonus lol
I’m most proud of the 2 tall plant stands that i made myself, they both have a swiss cheese in (Monstera)
I also made a sofa shelf which i struggle to organise, i just can’t seem to get it right.

Working from home and living alone means is gets lonely at times

Ive played around with layouts alot of the year but ive kinda settled on this for now
its mostly been organised around plant placement and light needs
I also had a play around with some wall art but just couldn’t seem to get it right so kept the walls plain, i feel the empty negative space balances out some of the busier areas

what do you guys think?

oh and bonus pics of my room mates

The only room I've decorated since my separation.

After my separation, this living room, like the rest of the house, ended up completely empty (first pic). I put some effort into making the bedroom feel cozier, but the living room still feels a bit bare. Behind the couch, I have a projector and a PS4. I didn't want to buy another TV. The rest of the house is either purely functional or pretty much empty.

What do you guys think I could do to make the place feel more like a home?

The flat was unfurnished and I’ve had so much fun making it my own. Tried to go for a modern organic, calming vibe. Would love to hear your thoughts on any additional colour touches I could add, as as well as art for my main wall.

Complete with 40 bottles of whiskey, 15 bottles of wine, and about 20 barrel aged stouts. It's mostly used furniture so I know it's not all a perfect match

Advice I’m close, help me finish

I got this far taking advice from the sub and mounting my TV. I’m looking for help to put the finishing touches, whether it’s specific art pieces, extra furniture, lamps etc to make this more cozy. I’d love advice on maybe some more specific pieces with links and where to put them for the big wall next to my couch I plan to put a cat shelf, since I’ll be getting a cat soon. But lay on any other design and aesthetic advice

Not a magick house... a magick home.

Finally moved back into an apartment of my own again (37yo) and really wanted my place to feel like a creative sanctuary away from the outside world... someplace I could both relax in and feel inspired by.

It won't be everyone's thing, but it couldn't feel more like home to me!

EDIT: Because a lot of people have been asking!

  • I have done psychedelics in the past and used to smoke a lot, but these days I am overwhelmingly sober about 95% of the time. I'll enjoy some wine or shisha socially, and consume an absurd amount of caffeine, but anything else is a rare treat saved for vacations, trips and special moments, maybe a handful of times a year if that.
  • I got these items from all sorts of places - Amazon, Goodwill, Farmer's Markets, Temu, Flea Markets, Home Goods, Walmart, Hobby Lobby, Friends, some stuff is homemade. I have zero shame about any of it. If I like it, I like it!
  • My orange cat is named Kako (short for Kakarot) and he just the most cuddly guy ever. I have a little girl black cat (you can barely see her on the couch) named Pan. She's also super adorable, but a bit of a spoiled princess haha.
  • I don't have dreads. I'm actually bald, fairly muscular and keep a relatively trim beard. I've got a few piercings. I commented with my picture but it may have gotten swallowed in traffic, haha.
  • I really like high fantasy, esotericism, astrology, polarity, world religions, psychology, astrology, tarot, music, dark romance and psychedelic vibes. I'm a musician, enjoy hitting the gym, going to music festivals and am a D&D nerd and theater kid.
  • The lights are RGB and cool to the touch. They can be adjusted to be "normal", but I really like the way the soft colors blend together, which I find super relaxing. I don't leave the candles going constantly, and don't leave them unattended.
  • The toilet has a neat little RGB light in it. You can find them lots of places for not much money.
  • I don't do hexes, curses, blessings or palm reading. My magickal affinity mostly lies in chaos magick, astrology and tarot - which I regard as psychological tools best used for self reflection and the reinforcement of will, first and foremost.
  • I am single (and also cismale and heterosexual - which I understand may be a question), and I would absolutely love to meet a woman who is likeminded, chill and creative. I would love to date a musician. But with that said, I am also very down to make new likeminded and chill platonic friends!

Lastly I want to say this post REALLY blew up! Which I find so surprising. Definitely a first for me, with a lot of mixed reactions (which I expected) but I'm really happy with just how many of you were into it, enthusiastic and supportive - the majority of you, really. The rest either being able to appreciate it despite differences, or a couple, haters - but the haters were also funny.

I don't take myself or life too seriously, and neither should you! Life is short. All these skulls and skeletons make sure I don't forget that.

So remember to be have fun, laugh, do some things that make you smile with people you love and try to laugh at the rest!

The place is not without issues, but I managed to fix a large bulk of them. Chief pf the issues is probably no personal WLAN, which I believe is a simple fix.

I want to change my layout and go full diy for my 31m² studio, what do you think and what to improve

Photo are from 2024 when I move in

kitchen: add an extension because it's a small kitchen with not enough space to have something to work on

the big black saque is a big block with food storage and clotch storage on in side

the long wall : 1 part for bike, 1 part for projector / pc, 1 par for 3D printing

on Right bed : foldable table

along the windows bay, a bench and clotch hanger to dry them in sun light
will add some plant in open storage

Advice Creatively stuck. Not sure what to do next??

I'm kind of at the divergent roads point with my room. I'm pretty happy with what I have but I'm not sure where to go from here. I want to get an older style full length mirror in a wood frame to hang on the wall. I don't want to keep the one I have there forever. I do have a real office chair on the list of things to get. I also think I want to try a short room divider between my bed and my desk to visually separate those spaces. I was also thinking of some kind of short noren curtain across the top of the dog nook? I've also toyed with the idea of moving the birds over my desk then having smaller pictures above my bed? So I do have ideas I want to try but even envisioning those changes in my head it still feels like it's missing something so I would like some outside perspective.

So I'm going to have to say the cliche, I rent. I know the thing that would really bring this room over the edge and help it is a new coat of paint. That said my lease is going to expire in a year and a half and I don't really see myself continuing to live here past that so painting feels like a really big investment. That said I don't have any problems with putting holes in the wall. So any ideas about moving pictures around or hanging up other stuff is cool with me. My building is north/south so plants are difficult. Especially since I keep my room darker during the day to calm down my dog while I'm at work. A second set of eyes on this is very much appreciated

Hello! I am weighing Ikea (Kivik) loveseat options and would really like to know what color(s) folks here think would work well in my space.

Yes, I have my television on a coffee table 😂

Just moved last month and I need some opinions/advice on how to decor the rest of the living room

Last month I left my parents house and finally have a place I can call my won home. So far this is what I got. It is still missing some things (a coffee table in front of the sofa, some a wall decor). But my main issue is what else can I do to make more cousy.

My main issue at the moment are:
-I don't how the tv console is (too close to wall but i can't take off, otherwise I don't know where to put the vinyls)
- There is a gap between the wall and the sofa (I can't have the sofa glue to the wall, otherwise I can't see the TV)

I know that wall decor can do wonders, but what furniture do you suggest getting or feedback on how to improve my living room.

Advice How can I brighten up my desk area?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey everyone! Due to my room layout, I have to put my desk in this corner that’s boxed in on either side. Due to this, it doesn’t get much natural light and it feels pretty dark when i’m working. Any ideas on how to lighten it up? I added lights on the back of the desk but it didn’t seem to help much. My other idea was tv back light but I don’t want to just have LEDS everywhere and make it look tacky. Any other suggestions for my setup are welcome too!

Advice How to decorate living room wall?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Ignoring the stuff in the bottom left corner, I don’t know how to decorate this wall. I do social media and was thinking of making an aesthetic background with decor that’s catching to the eye. I also considered a small dining area or just slapping a bean bag couch in the corner.

Any suggestions appreciated.
