ANNOUNCEMEMT Happy New Year, let's chat!

Hello r/makeuptips friends. Some of you may have noticed an absence of the moderators of this subreddit. You may have submitted modmail that went unanswered, to be honest.

I had gotten a moderator to help us develop an AutoMod for the sub. Something that would help ensure the rules were being followed with minimal intervention necessary by the mod team, but also allow for us to see the sub grow and become an amazing, welcoming place.

That moderator apparently was banned sometime in the last six months. I'm not sure what happened, I have no other way of contacting them, but needless to say it went unnoticed as the sub had been getting a lot better as far as content and rudeness, etc.

I'm opening the floor to hear what you have to say, while I go through the mod mail queue and respond to anyone that has went unnoticed. I will also be working on getting a moderator application up and running- Reddit actually allows for this within the framework of the site now, so that's a really neat development!

HELP PLEASE how to achieve this look??

Post image
10 Upvotes

How can I do this? I chose it because I don’t wear makeup often, and it seemed easier for a beginner like me. I want to achieve this eye look using minimal products.

I see a brown eyeshadow in it, but I’m wondering if there’s an alternative, maybe using kohl or something. My eyes are very similar to this, so I thought it would suit me. I don’t want to use eyeliner because whenever I try, I mess it up, and it makes my eyes look too wide. Plus, I can’t manage to create a wing : ((

HELP PLEASE Protruding eyes

Hello!

I’ve always struggled with makeup application. I don’t wear foundation, usually just blush, peach corrector, and mascara. Sometimes a winged eyeliner looks good and some days it makes my eyes look horrible.

I’m girly on the inside, but you wouldn’t tell because I have no idea how to do my makeup or style myself. I really want to look more put together. I’ve purchased a bunch of eye makeup and have no idea how to mark it work. I always look like a raccoon or cave man but I think it’s due to my eye shape or eyebrow ridge shape.

My general concerns:

- eyes that pop out and aren’t flush/elongated on my facial profile

- heavy brow

- feeling like my face looks masculine

- dark lips and no clear lip line. I’m not sure if I need to wear lip liner

- i want pink lips, but when I wear a lip color I feel like a kid with spaghetti stains around my mouth (anyone else?? 😭)

Tips and feedback are much appreciated ❤️ any low-hanging fruit I should take action on??? What colors? Techniques?? Anything!! I don’t want to feel like I look like a man. Thank you!

HELP PLEASE How to apply pencil lipliner?

• Upvotes

I have relatively thin lips and a sort of undefined lipline, and whenever I try to use pencil liners, it looks like a drunk toddler did it. (See visual aid below.) I do better with the creamier automatic kind, but I have this one pencil I was hoping I could figure out. Thanks for any advice!

HELP PLEASE Henna brows…

Post image
6 Upvotes

I wanted to try something new because my eyebrows are thin, sparse and have no shape. I said I wanted fluffy looking henna brows.

I don’t know if I’m over reacting or if they will settle because I’ve never had henna brows done before…. Is it me or do they not look very professional? I feel they’re two different shapes? The start of them are quite blocky. Particularly the left one isn’t a very flattering shape like quite low?

She also offered threading which I said no to because I hate threading (the last time I had it done was awful) but there was no attempt to even pluck at some of the uneven bits.

They looked ok in the salon but now I’m home I’m just not sure.

I have a wedding next week and I’m panicking!

Am I being unreasonable here?

Specifically my eye makeup, there’s something I don’t love about it but it’s my everyday look. I don’t wear foundation or lip products for the most part.

HELP PLEASE trying to learn to do eyeliner but i'm unsure about eye shape, what kind of eyeliner would suit my eyes?

sorry if this is a stupid question, i refused to touch eyeliner until much later so i don't have much knowledge

whenever i try to do eyeliner i feel like it looks awkward and doesn't fit my eyes, i did read about diffrrent eye shapes and what eyeliner styles fit for each kind of eye shape, but i'm honestly not sure what my eye shape even is (some self-assesment tests gave me "almond" but i'm not sure how accurate that is)

some traits:

i don't think i have hooded eyes, but my brow fat/skin does partially cover my top eyelids, my eyes are set slightly further back

my eyes are also on the smaller side with straight eyelashes

i also do unfortunately have a bunch of eye lines along with tear throughs :,)) i'm 22 but my skin genetics aren't the best

my main question is: what style of eyeliner do you think would fit my eyes? or which one i should try?

i appreciate all suggestions and help! thank you for helping me out

Hi cuties

Please recommended:

Full coverage foundation for oily skin

Setting powder

In terms of setting spray, I have elf setting spray and the loreal spray (the red one, haven't tested that one out yet)

Please give tips on how to prevent creasing on eyelids and under the eyes! 🫶

DISCUSSION Highlighter Help

What is a good every day highlighter for someone who does a full face everyday? I am super pale, 110 in the fenty foundation. Green eyes and brown hair. I typically do dramatic pink eyeshadow or a brown with light gold on days I’m lazy.
