So, I loaded Windows LTSC on a AM4 AMD system I had kept when I upgraded to AM5. The AM4 system has a Radeon 7600 and my new AM5 system has a 7900XT.
When I play some games on Steam using CachyOS on Linux with the CachyOS Proton, I notice more visual "Things" on my Windows systems with the AM4 7600 than on my AM5 7900XT on Cachy.
For example, on Windows, when I play Hell Let Loose, I see visual weather patterns like lightning and rain drops reverberating in water that I dont see on Linux. There are other subtle things I dont see also, like bugs, leaves flying around, etc... Now, I do see leaves on Linux, but not as "Natural" as they look on Windows.
Other games, Ill get reflection on Windows that I dont see on Linux.
Little subtle things that when I play on Windows the visuals are graphically more appealing then on Linux... On Linux, they almost seem, kind of washed out maybe?
I compared graphical settings and try to keep them similar because I set up each game the same, but gaming on Windows almost seems like it has better visual fidelity than on Linux.
Ive had other friends say the same to me - other friends wanting to migrate to Linux but then test it and decide not to.
Ive been using Linux since Windows XP days and its been my daily driver for over 25 years, so I was kind of blown away when I saw this. Ive never really compared before because Ive never really used modern Windows before LOL.
Anyway, just wondering if others have this same problem and how did you fix it, or did you just not worry about it.
Game play is not affected, but it almost seems like the translation of Windows code for games just isnt translating EVERYTHING.
