I have a UVB light (Reptisun T5 5.0) which is positioned 17 inches above my guy's tank floor and originally when I got it it made a loud whining noise. I stopped using it for a while because it was noisy and I didn't want that to irritate my boy, but I adjusted it today. However, there is a bit of a low noise, the kind that neon signs tend to make. Is that hurting his ears? Also, whenever I turn it on he leaves for his hide. Is there a chance it's too bright? He's not albino but he is yellow. I don't want to be torturing him with this light š©

He got a new setup, vastly improved. Isopods and springtails coming soon. So happy to see him healthy, happy and curious! Heās come so far from the sickly rescue I once knew :)

Would zoo medās deep dome lamp fixture, and an Arcadia halogen heat lamp (75 watts) be suitable together for heating? Iām gonna add uvb light eventually when I get the money, but I need to get the heat right first, then Iāll work on the rest of terrarium little by little until my gecko is happy and healthy. Iāve had some shortfalls in care thus far, and am trying to get more educated to make things right.

I got a leopard gecko 2 years ago and they are in a decent enclosure and are fed decently, but I want to improve his life and move him to my room. They are currently slightly overweight and weigh 65 grams. So, I feed him once a week. They are currently in a 20 gallon with reptisand and reptisoil substrate and have 2 proper hides(I have humid hide, but no cool hide). They have a heat lamp as the main source of heat and a under the tank heater to stop the temperature from dropping too low at night. He is fed mostly crickets dusted with calcium and multivitamin now (He used to also eat mealworms. Should I keep giving them to him?) He has no uvb. He has his hot spot at 92 degrees and the cool spot is usually above 70 degrees during the day. Finally, he is 2 years old or at least he has been with me for 2 years. I am going to get him a new tank that is 40 gallons soon and get that last hide some more clutter and uvb. Then I am going to move him to my room which is pretty hot, so I also need some advice on how to keep his tank cool when it gets hot. Thank you.

Susie is on papertowels at the moment to monitor health, have 5 different hides, two water dishes and a digital thermometer. Have a linear UVB setup on the way, temperatures on the hot side stay 85-92 f during the day and get no lower than 68 at night.
Have a mixture of topsoil and sand ready for a few months from now when I can switch her over.

It was feeding time for Raj, and when I brought the container full of Dubias, I look over to see her looking at me waiting for the food. I have been trying to use food to get comfortable with me and my hand so I can do choice based handling with her. So far, I've noticed she's curious and willing to approach me but still unsure of my hand

This is princess Silkie-soft, I rescued her nearly 4 years ago. Always assumed that she's a she but I brought her out and was taking a look and I'm starting to doubt myself a little bit... would love a little help either affirming she is a girl or a boy thanks <3

I have 2 leopard geckos, with large tanks and everything they need, I just donāt think I can handle them financially because Iām trying to move out of my parents house and Iāve been really having a hard time with depression because my friend died.
Their names are penguin(pp) and sookie, they each have individual tanks and they are each about 35-40 gal. I think I will have to rehome them but I just want to ensure they will be well taken care of. is there anyone in the Clarksville- Nashville TN area that would take them or some kind of special place that would? Iāve had them since they were babies and they are about 2 years old

Hi guys, long time lurker first time poster. I got my leopard gecko Syrax (year old) 2 weeks ago. She was in shed when I brought her home (which I didn't know, or I would've waited another week) We had to travel about an hour to get her, and then drive home. I can imagine that caused some stress on her, along with the new home. It's been about a week since she finished shedding, and yes, she ate her shed, and she won't eat ANYTHING. I've tried hand feeding, tong feeding, I've tried leaving it in the bowl and letting her choose when to eat, and nothing has worked. Everyone I talk to tells me she's just stressed and adjusting, but two weeks without food? I can't help but be worried. Any tips to get her to eat, or set up suggestions, would be greatly appreciated.

I am having fits figuring out the lighting for my tank. I bought a 75 watt flood basking bulb but that isnāt hot enough. I thought I would try a 75 watt halogen bulb and 100 watt bulb to try, but the bulbs sticks out of the dome I currently own. I then bought a zoo med deep dome but that is too wide for my mesh tank because it has two bars going horizontal and vertically. The weather is also getting colder. I am getting very frustrated. I would love any advice.

all these naturalistic decorations and enrichment materials in his enclosure and his favorite things are this tiny novelty beer stein he stares into, and a doll shoe he likes to bury in the dirt

I have a female leo, iāve had her for like 8 months (i think) and no matter what i try i canāt seem to get her to gain weight. is she just small? to me she looks thin, like her tail should be thicker but maybe thatās just how she looks? i feed her every 2 days and i even tried bumping it to every day for a while. iāve tried feeding more fatty insects like mealworms more frequently.
iām obviously okay if sheās just small, but i need insight on whether she looks healthy or not!
iām providing pics of her and also her enclosure! itās 40gal, ambient temp around 85 on the warm side and humidity around 40%. she does have a uvb bar!

Iām pretty sure my girl is in brumation. I am needing to change out the substrate and clean her tank. Should I wait until she comes out of it? Or does it not matter?

hello! i work at a childrenās museum that has a few reptiles that i take care of, with a leopard gecko being one of them. however my boss is looking to replace him with a new critter who is more social with the kids and not asleep most of the day, so i offered to take home this little guy. this is his current set up and i am looking into getting him a bigger inclosure and and making it fully bio active. any suggestions on what gecko safe plants and other things i should add to it? (also ik the dials arenāt reliable and i have a digital thermometer and humidity gauge ready to go at home!!)

Hello, so I have a one year old leopard gecko; but I need advice on what to use as substrate. I've been told many things on what to use, but I've been getting so confused about what is the best to use as substrate for her. So please someone give me advice please! š
r/leopardgeckos • u/thwartted • 13h ago
Good idea or bad idea? We buried a plastic tube under the substrate with a entrance hole on the other side. The back wall is seen here in front. Is that gonna defeat the purpose because it's letting in light? Or is it okay for us to have a view into his moist Hide. We would fill it with spagnaum moss.

she has finally gotten up to 47g Iām thinking of getting her up to 50g to be on the safer side of her weight just in case she ever decides to go without eating.
since I got her recently I just started feeding her every other day this week, iām thinking in November ill start feeding her 2-3 times a week.
I have no clue on the best thing to do I donāt want to accidentally starve her š but i DONT want her to get overweight nothing I research is giving me a straight answer
Her current length is 7.5-8inch and by next week sheāll probably be up to 50g.

So this is Apollo heās around 10 months old if iam not mistaken or a year old were not sure but probably a year now and he eats dubia roaches once every next day and hes also getting calciun with and without d3 and multivitamins because i dont have a UVB light yet and yes i will try my best to invest in some clutter but all the market ones that are safe for reptiles are expensive honestlyā¦
