Drawing consistently Day 65
Been drawing here and there but just haven’t been posting, focusing on construction more to simplify my bodies to make drawing them easier.

NOT MY ART IT IS A BASE.
I don't think this counts as traicng but most of my art is done by looking at someone else's base always a blank character with no feature and eye balling it, and adjust the base to my needs.
It seems good expect the fact that some poses just don't exist. I have an idea for pose and just have no reference.
This image was going to be one of them but I only realize that it felt kind of..lazy. not the same as ctual tracing but I want eye balling to be more of choice not my default.
Sometimes wish I was a printer😆, because in my head they are so easy to see.
How do people just do it, just think of a pose and draw it so well. I know it isn't instant so where do I start.
If there are any tutorials or technique anyone use to level up their poses and dynamic set up it would be appreciated heavy.

I followed this guide;
https://www.reddit.com/r/learntodraw/s/gE7vYOQu5v
Really great guide, looks absolutely nothing like the original gentleman but I’m honestly happy to have attempted something that wasn’t just a drawing exercise. Pretty obvious that his mouth is too far from his nose and his jaw wasn’t squared properly, amongst other things, though.
I think I might try one small drawing per day after the exercises so I have something to look forward to. If I never see another ellipses again I’ll be happy.

I’m 25F, trying to get back into drawing and have always wanted to make a comic. So for a short back story, I used to draw all the time ages 2-18 but then fell off and haven’t been drawing much other than random doodles or the occasional few unfinished sketches every few months so I haven’t made any progress in my abilities for 7 years 😭. I now have a nursing job, and more time to draw since I’m no longer in school so I bought some books to try and actually learn how to construct figures and it’s been really frustrating. I got pretty good at realism, and being able to draw what I see but without references I can’t draw well in comic style (it’s inconsistent), anatomy without references, foreshortening, and or even backgrounds and it’s been frustrating. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I’m genuinely so annoyed with myself.
I also want to add some of my old drawings as links in case that shows what I used to be able to do and can do recently (digital on iPad).

Here’s some figures I drew today. Tried not to worry about mistakes when drawing these. How do they look? Wanted to test my muscle anatomy knowledge again and I think these came out pretty great. Also, it’s insane I can draw these with little issue but I still can’t draw a decent looking face ugh…

I've been drawing in the community for a good while now, and I was actually wondering... Do you think it'd be a good idea to start teaching art? Would you guys be open to taking some classes?

I started trying to learn to draw 6 months ago. I’m 38 and never really did a lot of art but wanted a hobby. I’ve primarily even focusing on learning pen and ink illustration. The progress from the last month has been pretty great. I try and draw every day at least something even if I don’t like it. Excited to see what 1 year looks like.

Sometimes drawing comes easy to me I see it in my head and I know I can draw that, like this one where 14 people on Discord watched me draw it. Maybe no one saw the comments on my last post, eh it’s whatever. The truth is I try to draw everyday, and have since I got my IPad, and downloaded Procreate, I draw on Lives on TikTok, I guest Draw a lot on peoples Discords. Sometimes when I draw lll post the ton of edits to sketches most of the time I’ll post the last one and my outlines and color, where I commit to my outlines and color pallet. I’ve been artistic my whole life all 60 years of it, and it carried over when I bought my first PC in 1990 and mouse drew in paint and haven’t stopped drawing on it, I make vector art for people all the time and have for over 21 years as a Screen Printer/ Sign maker. My style comes from everything I learned growing up, my warriors are from the pictures I seen and redrew in D&D and Dragon magazine, my dynamic poses are learned from Drawing The Marvel Way book, all my art is in the books Ive read, it’s from all my art teachers, from my high school for letting me skip all my study halls to go in the art room to paint draw or sculpt, its in every sketch every mural everything I put out there and everyday I put pen and ink, pencil and paper, IPencil to IPad or squeegee to screen I’m learning to draw or learning to do art.

So recently, I started my journey of practicing without a specific end goal. It's been about 10 days, and this is my gesture drawing practice from yesterday.

(This project is going to be the size of a wall btw)
I plan to make a massive battleground drawing mixed with like 10-20 characters from different ips. Like arknights, deadlock, wuthering waves and morimens. Some of those characters have abilities or have big effects, so my question is how do I plan the stage or battlefield, before I put everything in place? I plan to have the bigger characters with large parts be towards the center, or doing something more grand. and smaller ones off to the sides doing chases, or having their own 1v1s on the sides or in between. Would making a large grid with points help or something like that? Im not looking for this project to be perfect, just for fun. And looking for help on starting the battlestage.

No reference used. She’s supposed to be a vampire, and I’d like her to look a little creepier? She just sort of looks like a generic anime character right now.

Hi, so I've begun to attempt drawing once more, using Ibis Paint X and my finger. The problem? My drawings look like they're made by a middle schooler. So, how do I improve my drawing (to save my fragile ego)? In the attached drawing, I used no reference. I can't afford a drawing pad/pen.

Funny valentine is my favorite jojo villain and I wanted to capture his magnificence. I messed up a lot ordering my layers and can’t really change the colors as much but I’m asking for any critiques with the line art, coloring, face, proportions, and anything else you guys might think of. Thank you all!

Hello I have not drawn in about 10 years and I am looking to start practicing for about 15 mins a day to build my skills back up.
I have always copied other peoples art over life drawing and I am wondering if this is a bad way to practice, in the picture the bigger horse is from the life reference (15mins) and the smaller horse i copied the drawn reference (5 mins)
I think the following the art gave a better result but I’m not sure if it is constructive to learning, or if I should focus on trying to take the real horse and try to break it into simpler shapes like the artist did
any advice is appreciated, thanks

Tried emphasizing the rhythms more on the first image. Proko's free rhythm reference book really helped here. The latter two images are me drawing based off of Michael Hamptoms mannequins.

I watched a bunch of videos on gesture drawing and most of them recommend to do CSI for lines
Some videos they use a bunch of C/S lines to do arms/legs
Other times they just draw one big curve and so pointy-ish arms/legs
I’ve also seen some videos where they just do curved lines for arms/legs (like stickman)
I’ve tried a combination of those things but it still doesn’t look great. What to work on or try?
The videos I watched state to exaggerate the pose and try to capture the movement.
When I do that it looks weird and proportions are not good. It looks off. How do you exaggerate and have it look like a person?

I get to this point everytime but after this I don't know what to do😭, I just ruin the drawing everything, can anyone give me tips on how to proceed after this point
(I know it's still not perfect, tips would be appreciated)
I don't want to make it hyper realistic, I want to proceed in a semi realistic style
