Hi All,

To help keep the subreddit free of consistent self promotion we will be altering the self promotion rule, the new rules for self promotion posts are as follows:

- Self promotion posts are only permitted on Fridays

- You must use the 'Self Promotion' flair else the post will be removed and you may be banned.

- We will remove the 500 Karma requirement for posting links

- Your account will still need to be older than 30 days to post

- We will only accept self promotion posts for Kickstarter campaigns.

Thanks,

Self-Promotion Creating ODFlights after ODLights

• Upvotes

Hi everyone, last year I created immersive TV lights and posted them on Kickstarter. The community here was very supportive and I received great feedback! The campaign goal was fulfilled within one week. I had a lot of fun making the TV Lights. This year I wanted to make something to track the flights flying in the area, then my girlfriend said she didn't want something that just shows the flight data, so we came up with the list of things we would like to see on the screen. The existing trackers didn't have some things we wanted, So these are what we came up with which I integrated into ODFlights

  1. Flight tracker - you can set your coordinates and your area of visibility. It will show all the flights that across your vicinity.

  2. Clock Screen - In addition to clock (you have an option to select analog, digital or worded) there is news, weather, jacket needed? , sun rise & sunset, AQI moon phase, departure board, any flight you are tracking. You have an option to select any, all or none of the options.

  3. Aurora Screen - it shows a world map with live Aurora map. You have an option to enable or disable this screen.

  4. Constellation screen - It shows the constellation map around you during day & Night. You have an option to enable and disable this screen.

  5. Photo Frame Screen- It will display a slideshow for upto 40 photos you upload. You have an option to keep it as standalone screen - so that it doesn't switch to clock, tracker etc ideally a digital picture frame

  6. UptoNoGood Screen - you can view the location of all your friends. Anyone with an "OwnTracks" app can share their location with you and you would be able to see it on the screen. As usual you have an option to enable or disable this screen.

  7. TrackedFlights Screen - it will show the details of the flights you are tracking. The display is similar to an in-flight tracker.

This runs on a website so you don't have to download anything or pay any subscription fees. All the customization happens over the website. The only app you would need is OwnTrack if you want to use the UptoNoGood Screen (which is completely optional)

I have set up the system in a way that I can send you the new version every time I add something new (like a free software update). It won't affect the previous versions, it's just a way people can try new features if they like.

Currently working on

  1. Stock market widget on Clock Screen where you can track your desired tickers. Or should I do a separate screen for Stock market? Please let me know what you think.

  2. Manual - I underestimated how long it would take to write everything you have done on a piece of paper.

  3. Casing for the hardware.

The project is in pre-launch until I finalize these 3 things, it shouldn't take more than 3 weeks (hopefully🤞). Thank you for reading so far, I really appreciate you even spending time reading through. If you can, please let me know what you think? What else would you like to see in the upcoming versions. Thanks again!

PS- apologies for the video clarity, using an old A series pixel. I had to delete the last post because I missed a detail

Luminids Kickstarter Is Live! Help Bring This Little World to Life

Hey everyone!

The Luminids Kickstarter is officially live! ❤️

For the past year, I've been pouring my heart into building Luminids, a peaceful little world where tiny creatures make friends, grow up, build homes and live their own lives.

It's been a huge journey building this as a solo developer, and seeing people discover Luminids, wishlist it and get excited about the world has genuinely meant a lot to me.

Now I'm taking the next big step.

I've launched a Kickstarter with a goal of raising £12,000 to help bring Luminids to Early Access in February 2027.

If Luminids has caught your eye, I'd love you to consider backing the Kickstarter. There are different reward tiers, and every pledge makes a difference.

❤️ Back Luminids on Kickstarter:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/luminids/luminids-a-calm-colony-building-journey

And if you're not in a position to back it, sharing the campaign with a friend who might enjoy Luminids would mean the world.

Thank you for being part of this little journey. There's so much more I want to show you.

Nick
Creator of Luminids

Self-Promotion MegaShot Pickl+ : Bringing pickleball gaming to your living room

• Upvotes

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/megashot/megashot-pickl-smart-pickleball-gaming-device?ref=6hqfu1

Hi everyone! Sharing MegaShot Pickl+, our smart pickleball gaming device that's currently live on Kickstarter.

The idea is to bring pickleball-inspired gaming into your living room using a smart paddle that connects to the MegaShot app via Bluetooth. The paddle uses advanced motion tracking to translate your shots into in-game action, while haptic feedback adds a tactile element to the gameplay.

There are 10+ game modes to explore, with solo play and multiplayer options for some friendly competition with family and friends. And there's more planned for the future, with the vision of bringing other racket sports like tennis, badminton, table tennis and squash to the same paddle.

We've reached 780% of our funding goal, with 12 days left in the campaign! Really grateful for all the support so far.

If this sounds interesting, you can check out the project here:

Would love to hear what you think!

Self-Promotion We built a color e-paper frame that runs off the grid: Bluetooth first, no outlet, up to a year per charge

• Upvotes

Hi r/kickstarter,

I'm Alexis, one of the three co-founders of Reeveel, a small team in Montréal. Our campaign for Inkolor is live and already funded, and I'd love feedback from people who back and build projects here.

Inkolor is a 13.3" color E Ink frame. It doesn't glow like a screen: it looks like paper, and the display uses no power to hold an image.

What makes it different

  • Off the grid: no Wi-Fi, no internet, no outlet needed. It can hang in a van, a cabin, or on a wall far from any plug.
  • Apps: iOS, Android, web, and a desktop app for macOS, Windows and Linux that does everything the mobile app does, and more. No subscription.
  • Details: a hidden touch sensor to change images, NFC to learn about the artwork, a swappable magnetic mat, and a rotating mount for portrait or landscape.

The hard parts

  • Bluetooth first. We spent a lot of time on our own protocol, so everything works over BLE alone: sending images, getting back the images stored on the frame, and more. Wi-Fi and microSD are optional.
  • Open by design. The frame also speaks HTTP and MQTT, which is how it shows up in Home Assistant. Our cloud is only needed for remote features, like sending an image while you're away or to a friend's frame. For those, we will offer a self-hosted community edition, so you can run that part yourself.
  • Rendering. Color e-paper has only 6 pigments and doesn't behave like a screen. We built PaperTone, our own rendering engine, so art keeps its depth and colors. No AI involved. Photos still won't look exactly like a printed photo, and we'd rather say it now.
  • Hardware. It took 4 prototypes to get to a factory unit we're happy with.

Some numbers

  • 13.3" display, 1600 × 1200, 6 color pigments
  • 10,000 mAh battery, up to a year per charge, zero power to hold an image
  • 3 founders, 4 prototypes, funded on day 1
  • Estimated delivery: late spring 2027, with a backer update at least every two weeks

Campaign: Inkolor: The First Paper-Like Frame That Adapts to You
$299 during the campaign ($399 retail). Ends November 24.

One question for you: where would you hang a frame that needs no outlet?

All photos show our real hardware. No AI, no retouching.

Post image
• Upvotes

Hi everyone, I'm the creator behind Azure Arcana Foundry. These are physical resin test prints from Santa's Winter Witches, our upcoming collection of 75 mm fantasy miniatures for printing and painting.

The Kickstarter rewards will be digital STL files, not physical miniatures. The models are manually sculpted in Blender. This image shows the actual prints; some campaign presentation artwork uses AI, as disclosed on the project page.

The prelaunch page is open. If these look like your next painting project, you can tap Notify me on launch here:

Question How important is it to fund on day 1 voor niche product with dedicated followers?

Post image
• Upvotes

Hi everyone!

Eeek, this Tuesday the 27th my first Kickstarter goes life! I started September 30th with the pre-launch and I hope I will have assembled enough followers to reach my € 9.500 goal! (I wanted a goal that really covers what I am planning to do). I was aiming for 500 followers pre-launch, which was realistic as it seems.

If you have a niche product and a relatively big following on socials, how important it is then to get funded on day one?

As I have a dedicated audience on socials and a decent mailing list, I did not run any add campaign or otherwise paid advertising/services 👀 I expect/hope that it will work out and that also during the campaign quite a few new people will join, as soon as the algorithm reaches them. Algorithm & reach are sometimes really blah, especially when you promote something, so with every new post, some long time followers who would be interest get to see the campaign for the first time! I will keep on bringing attention to it on my site, mailing list and social platforms all through the campaign.

How to you get people to donate on the first day if you are not offering early birds (I want everyone to have the same chance, also if they are joining later on)? Just telling everyone it's good for the campaign? Anyhow, I will be posting on my socials daily in the days to come, pitching the exact time and date and counting down.
The prelaunch ^-^

I also wanted to post this amongst people who are in the same excitement & tension place I am ^-^

Funny is that I see myself going back & forth between "What are my 5 best stretch goals" and "What if it does not get funded" 🤔

Anyhow, I wish all who are in the midst of it too good luck with your projects!

Question How risky is this kickstarter?

• Upvotes

It’s for the Lightmake L4 3D printer. It’s already technically over and more than met their funding goal, but they are still accepting late backers. They have regular updates and respond to messages quickly with a clear timeline and seem to be ready for mass production. On top of that, they have sent multiple functional prototypes to YouTubers in the 3d printing space and most of it has looked extremely positive, especially for a prototype. They even sent a guy all the way from China to America to replace some parts/update firmware for a creator. They sound extremely positive and reliable, especially from a kickstarter standpoint. They also are not a new company, they are a new branch of a precision manufacturing company that’s been around for a decade now, though this, along with their L1 are their first 3d printers and recently upped their warranty to 24 months for backers. The main reason I want it is because it has 4 separate print heads that can all run at the same time to make up to 4 different prints at the same time or a large multi color/material print. The backing price is $1000 off the retail price so it is extremely tempting.

My campaign has stalled…advice?

Thumbnail kickstarter.com
• Upvotes

My campaign has stalled in its first week.

I self publish comic books, and this is my 5th and final volume in this series. The Kickstarter also has the first 4 volumes available, perks like a shout out or being a character in this volume.

I have spent the last 4 years doing signings at comic cons, bookstores, I have an active TikTok Shop, I am on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. At the signings I collect emails, and I have a little over 500 people on my email list.

I had a 60 day pre-launch, I have been doing email blasts, I do posts/stories every couple days on Instagram, I even got a comic book influencer to do a reel about my Kickstarter the day it launched.

Any advice or feedback about why my campaign is stalled?

Self-Promotion We've built 1,200+ watches since 2023. SIG38 is our first Kickstarter, and introducing ourselves is the new part.

Post image
• Upvotes

Hi everyone, I'm Jaden, one of the three co-founders of modlab company, a small custom-watch studio in the Detroit area.

Since 2023, we've built more than 1,200 watches across individual orders, G-SHOCK and Seiko mods, fully custom builds, and larger projects for brands, businesses and influencers. This is our first Kickstarter.

Our project is SIG38, a custom take on the smaller Casioak platform, the Casio GMA-S2100. We wanted another option for people who like the regular GA-2100 but find it a little large. The size difference is modest; 38 is our line name, not a claim that the case is 38 mm.

The smaller platform had fewer aftermarket parts, so getting the design we wanted meant searching for factories and having new parts made to our designs. The watch uses the Casio analog-digital module with our custom exterior. This is an independent custom build, not a Casio collaboration. The turquoise watch in the photo is a real sample.

Apparently the watches don't introduce themselves. The three of us are more comfortable talking about dial colors than saying hello, but here we are.

The campaign is live: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/modlabdetroit/modlab-sig-38

If you're curious, have a look. Happy to answer questions about the base, parts or how we got here.

Disclosure: I'm a co-founder. AI helped edit this wording; the build information and sample photo are ours.

Discussion Creators, how do you market and advertise your Kickstarter campaign?

• Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m planning a Kickstarter campaign and trying to figure out the best marketing strategy. How do you usually advertise your ideas? Do you focus more on building a community before the launch (like building an email list), or do you rely heavily on Facebook/Instagram ads during the live campaign?

Would love to know what worked for you and what percentage of your budget went into marketing. Thanks!

Our power bank, the SmartCoby Ultra Slim SS5K, hit its goal in two days. On paper that’s a win. In practice, we ended up with a list of things we’d do differently, and a few of them we only figured out after launch. With our next campaign coming November 5, here’s what we’ve learned that I haven’t seen talked about much.

  1. Success in one market doesn’t transfer to another.

Our previous power bank, the Ultra Slim 3K, had over 3,800 backers on Makuake in Japan. The same product on Kickstarter had 267. Same product, same company, completely different result. Japanese backers already knew us. American backers didn’t. If you’re bringing a product to a new audience, plan like it’s your first campaign, because to them it is.

  1. Collect leads, not clicks.

Our early ads sent people straight to campaign pages. They got clicks, but clicks rarely became backers. Now our ads have one job: get someone to follow the prelaunch page or join our email list. A person who signs up weeks ahead is far more likely to back on day one than someone who clicks an ad halfway through.

  1. Your past backers are your best launch day.

The people who backed you before already trust you. For SS5K, we sent previous backers a thank you with an exclusive discount, and they were some of our earliest pledges. If you’ve run a campaign before, that list is worth more than any ad budget. Talk to them before you launch, not after.

What’s next

Our next campaign is NovaPort III, the first charger our company has built in Japan. It launches November 5, and we’re putting all of this into practice. SS5K is also still live through October 28 if you want to see where these lessons came from.

What’s one thing you only learned after your campaign went live?

Self-Promotion Issue 1 got into almost every comic store in Sydney. Now I’m trying to fund Issue 2 on Kickstarter

Thumbnail
gallery
3 Upvotes

I’m Marcus. I write Zeravos and run Dark Root Comics on my own out of Sydney.

Issue 1 is printed and shipped, and it’s now stocked in almost every comic store in Sydney plus a few in Melbourne. Issue 2 is written and drawn, and the campaign goes live on November 1.

The goal is $4k. It covers printing Issue 2 and the art for Issue 3, so each campaign pays for the next book and there’s no long gap between issues.

A few things about the campaign:

  • Issue 2 has three covers by Ebuka Okpala, Flaviu Pop and Jozef Boza
  • There’s a Catch Up pack with Issue 1 and 2 for new readers
  • There are only 24 Issue 1 Collector’s Packs left, and signed Nicita variants are Kickstarter only

The story is about a man bound to a blade that wants to consume him. You can read the first 16 pages of Issue 1 free at darkrootcomics.com if you want to see if it’s your thing.

This is the part I’d really value help with. If you’ve run or backed comic campaigns, what would you change about the pre-launch page? Anything that would stop you from clicking follow?

Would you back an early-stage software project you wouldn't use yourself?

I own automotive service and spare parts workshops in Argentina, run under franchises. My professional and personal lives are a mess: one calendar, one email account, one PC and one phone for everything. So I started building a digital tool to organize and automate as much of it as I can. I've spent 13 years in the automotive sector, so I know these problems firsthand. English isn't my native language. I wrote this in Spanish and used a translator.

Right now the tool runs inside Telegram, so there's no need to open any additional apps. The first module handles email: you get your messages by voice or text, it summarizes them, and you can reply. I know it's not exactly revolutionary. It took me months, and it's only the first step. But I want to show you where I'm actually at.

Next up are calendar management, quote generation and basic customer follow-up. Most people are excellent at their trade but struggle with chasing sales, which is why follow-up matters so much. I'm building this for independent professionals and owners of very small businesses who don't have time to keep up with technology. It's mainly aimed at Latin America, though not only.

The long-term vision is that each user could configure their own "vehicle" for their own needs, like building a custom car instead of buying a standard one. I'm not sure how realistic that is. I believe it can work if it solves real problems and I keep investing time and resources.

I'm planning a Kickstarter campaign for next year. I know software doesn't always do well there, and my audience doesn't quite fit the typical backer profile. So my question: would you back an early-stage software project you wouldn't personally use? What would you need to see to trust it? Constructive criticism is welcome, even if it's harsh

Self-Promotion I've been working on a collection of fantasy-inspired candles for game nights and storytelling

Please Follow Our Campaign

Hi everyone!

I've been working on a project for a little while now, and I thought this community might appreciate the idea behind it.

I'm building a small independent tabletop-inspired brand called Vagabond's Refuge, and our first project is Torchlight: a collection of six atmospheric candles inspired by classic fantasy locations.

The idea started with a simple question: what would your favourite fantasy location smell like?

- Tavern Hearth — a warm, welcoming rest

- Wyldwood Forest — an ancient woodland full of mystery

- Dungeon Delve — the mysteries hidden beneath the surface

- Mountain Pass — the frost and adventure of the high peaks

- Desert Crossing — a journey across an unforgiving landscape

- Seaward Bound — the promise of an adventure across the ocean

We're making these as hand-poured candles, with illustrated labels with the aim of creating something that adds a little atmosphere to tabletop sessions, reading, or just escaping into a fantasy world for an evening.

The Kickstarter is coming up soon, and we're currently getting the word out ahead of launch. It's a small project, so every bit of genuine interest helps enormously.

I'd love to know: if you could bring the atmosphere of any fantasy location into your home, what would you choose? It doesn't have to be one of ours!

Project here

Thanks for taking a look, and happy adventuring!
