Flair Request Thread Flair Request Thread [#4]
Many of you likely noticed that user-assigned flairs have been disabled in this subreddit. This action has been undone, and users are once more able to assign their own flairs - I honestly do not know why they were disabled or who did it.
In attempt to rectify this mistake, I am posting our first flair request thread in over 5 years! Time sure does fly.
In this thread, by commenting your birth-year, you will be automatically flaired -- it's that simple.
Approved birth-years for this thread include 1995-2012.
If there are any issues with your flair, please reach out to the moderators via modmail.
PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU COMMENT YOUR BIRTH-YEAR ONLY. COMMENTS INCLUDING ANY OTHER CONTENT WILL BE REMOVED.

Mod Post Just a reminder, gender war posts are banned.
It’s been over a year since we banned gender war posts, and after monitoring the community, we’ve decided to keep the ban in place, as these discussions continue to be just as toxic as they were a year ago.
For clarity, “gender war” content includes discussions such as male loneliness, Gen Z men approaching Gen Z women, incels, femcels, alpha males, Andrew Tate, red pill, black pill, purple pill content, men’s height discourse, age-gap dating, and broader “looks-based” or hierarchy discussions about dating, looks maxing or ranking people by attractiveness or dating value.
This also includes broader dating ideology content that frames relationships in an adversarial, or fatalistic way.
For example: men vs women narratives, claims that one gender is universally responsible for dating issues, or that dating is inherently doomed for a specific group. Generalizations that treat either gender as a monolith are not allowed.
Memes about these topics, posts complaining about dating, and rage-bait content taken from other platforms such as screenshots from TikTok or Twitter that exist primarily to provoke gender-based arguments.
This is not a dating-focused subreddit. If you want to vent or discuss Gen Z dating issues more broadly, please use communities such as [r/dating_advice](r/dating_advice) or [r/dating](r/dating).
That said, posts about dating are still allowed as long as they are made in good faith. If comment sections become hostile or devolve into rule-breaking behavior, posts may be locked or removed at moderator discretion.
Please respect and follow this rule moving forward.

Discussion Economy so bad we can't have failed relationships because we don't even get the chance to date
My parents, grandparents and basically the last gen all had crazy stories in highschool or college how they got multiple gfs, heard stories of even some relative who didn't even finish uni had to dropout, but he had married a wive and a kid and he was also cheating on her and turned into alcoholism in the end and lost the relationship and the child.
Meaaanwhile, we can't even get basic jobs at supermarket and some of them requiring a degree. Relationships? Forget it, no situationships, no dating experience, nothing. Just worrying about how we gonna afford rent the next month. We can't even take care of ourselves, forget about dating at all especially when the expectations are sky rocket

Discussion (Millennial) Is my Halloween costume offensive?
Sup guys.
I am a cis tan muscular bald man with chest, leg, and facial hair.
I want to be Zendaya for Halloween while my girlfriend is going to wear a spiderman body suit.
To me, this is hilarious. But I don't want to offend anybody, specifically anybody who is transgender.
Yes/no?
Edit: I am fervently anti-trump and I believe in equal rights and progression.

Discussion Actual odd question, has anyone in here almost died? What did you experience and how did it change you?
And did it change your outlook on life given and despite Gen Z's relatively young age?

Discussion Gen Z is struggling at work
Young genx here. I work with a lot of older genz in a corporate office. All have bachelor degree to phd. They are struggling so hard. I've never seen anything like it.
This isn't to bash or blame gen z. 8 out of ten can't summarize or organize information, can't multi task, can't put together a comprehensive email, can't apply what they learned in one situation to another situation and have zero communication or social skills. What would be considered a mediocre employee 20 years ago is a top performer now.
I don't think it's their fault but it is quite shocking to witness. I am wondering if gen z has observed this about themselves or other in their generation and what do you make of it?
Discussion Is anyone else really lonely?
All my friends are either out of state or busy or both. Anyone else feel the same way?

Discussion Does anyone else get weirded out by how fast slang dies now?
Saw someone use 'no cap' sincerely and got roasted for it being 'ancient.' That phrase was everywhere like two years ago. Feels like the half life of words got cut in half.

Discussion Do you have a formal household budget, or just kinda wing it with finances?
When managing your household budget, do you have a specific plan or budget that you review and update, or do you just kinda wing it with finances?
When I was younger and single, I used to track it pretty meticulously to make sure all my income and expenses were planned for. Also didn’t help that I was living paycheck-to-paycheck, and not making a lot of money, so there was a bit more “urgency” there. I also had a lot less things to worry about - just rent, car, insurance, groceries. My income was a lot more variable then also, which made tracking it more important.
Now, I’ve gotten a bit more lax about budgeting. Our incomes are pretty stable now, consistent, reliable paychecks every 2 weeks. Same with expenses, pretty fixed and consistent, since most things are on autopay.
All I really do now is check at the end of the month and make sure that there is more money in the checking account after deductions, investments, savings, and mortgage, and expenses are taken care of. And I have alerts set up if anything gets close to getting overdrawn or a big unexpected expense comes through.
I feel like being able to put everything on autopilot kind of removes the need for strict budgeting, but I know some people still like to track it meticulously.

Nostalgia Xennial to Gen Z
My son was born in 2008 and special needs. Went to a special needs preschool until time for kindergarten (which we waived a delay for a year). I'm dad and I'm sweating bullets thinking it would be like when I started in1982. No bullying, everyone looking out for him, young people coming up to him in public speaking to him. Your generation is OK in my book. They want to say the world is imploding, nah, it's the same, you just get to hear about it more these days. Peace little zoomers.

Discussion Millennial here (born '94): Gen Z, what do you actually want from your friendships?
I'm a millennial and I've noticed friendship seems to work differently for people a bit younger than me. Is it nights out, group chats, deep 2am talks, showing up when things go wrong? How much do you want to know about the people you call friends, and how much do you share? Genuinely curious, not judging.

Discussion Saw this post in another sub and I completely agree, like I get it having kids isn’t for everyone but there seems to be portion of the population who genuinely hates/resents kids which I think is odd

Discussion my first clanker coworker
i stock shelves overnight and last month they "hired" this robot that does the cart runs and fetches pallets. i understand that im young but it took them nine months to let me use the box cutter, there was a whole certification and test, and i signed stuff. the robot who is probably less than a year old? tuesday first meeting, and by wednesday it's working. my manager doesn't know what to do when it jams and honestly neither does the vendor guy who's here basically every day now
tbh it's not even the robot i'm mad at, it kind of works and i'm not trying to haul pallets at 4am forever. i just cant believe that nobody checked anything. stuff like this needs to go through tests before it's everywhere, and someone should be responsible when it breaks. innovation is fine, its just that why do i, someone who is barely an adult, have to be the guinea pig. i think the responsible thing is for the rules to show up with the machine and not after somebody gets hurt
anyone else have a robot coworker yet, and are you guys comfortable with this tech rolling out like this?
