Just got this bad boy
Highly recommend this guy to anyone that has balance issues and can't get a license I have equilibrium disorder and I shake randomly so probably not a good idea for me to be going fast in a car. I don't seem to have an issue though when the wind is in my face.

What a nice view with these mirrors.
It was time for a mirror upgrade. I had some round ones that I couldn't see much. These seem to have a great view. They also seem to be built little better. I love riding my Velotric E-bike but with how people drive I think it's best to have good mirrors so you can watch all around you while out enjoying life.

My solution to deter battery thieves.
I just purchased a photon gen 2 and this beast of a 25ah 52v battery.
It’s far to heavy and big to take off every time so I used super strong epoxy and fused this ring onto the battery, when I lock my bike I can pass my bike lock through there , that combined with the somewhat useless lock that locks it into the cradle, I’m hoping this we’ll make it less attractive then the bike next to me.
I know it’s not fool proof for a determined thief, but between that and my 2 albus lock chains it’s the best I can do.

Fine then... I'll do it myself.
gallerySo, I've been in the market for a couple years for a recumbent trike. There was a single overriding problem: there is Rather A Lot of me, and the price of a recumbent rated to hold someone over 400 pounds was just stupidly high. I tried to make the money work a few times, but it was just far more than I wanted to spend. I kept looking around the internets for ideas, and stumbled over this article...
And after reading it I thought to myself "Self, that looks doable." Took a while to find parts - finding a pair of mostly-matching BMX bikes that weren't total trash was an exercise in trawling garage sales for several months, then a mountain bike for the rear wheel and some bits like brakes and such. I didn't use any of the mountain bike frame. I stuck my two BMX frames together by running a chunk of 8-gauge pipe through the centers of the BMX frames' pedal holders, and used some 2" box steel to make my rear forks (which I made exactly wide enough to fit the 26" wheel from the mountain bike, which later turned out to be a mistake)
For the pedal set on the trike itself, I stuck a set of pedals from another donor BMX on a chunk of pipe out in front. I went with BMX pedals for the very simple reason that BMX bikes, even tiny ones for little children, routinely stand up to the kind of abuse caused by teenagers going HAY GUYS WATCH THIS and the resulting nonsense. I wound up building the seat frame out of 1" box steel and stringing a seat together with simple rope, and slapped a basket I pulled out of a thrown-away dishwasher on the back (which was also a mistake - it's a bit too flexible and fragile for the purpose, which is why I reinforced it with fiberglass which... sort of works. I really, really should have just built a frame for saddlebags, but, eh, hindsight.)
I slapped on a coat of green paint, and Jeremiah was born (and five internet dollah to the first person to derive and post the reason it's named that - there is a simple, logical reason). It works! The brakes are sadly inadequate for the weight of the trike and me combined, though if I'm careful about my stopping distance it's okay. It's quite heavy and hard to take hills on its own, but it gets the job done and it's quite handy to grab groceries with.
I decided to convert it to an E-trike with a kit I picked up online from an outfit based in Ontario (I could have saved a few bucks getting one from China on Amazon but it was a big-ticket enough item I felt I ought to be patriotic and buy Canadian) I went for a rear hub drive model... and discovered the mistake made with my custom forks. The rear hub drive wheel needed the dropouts to be about 11mm wider than the mountain bike wheel I'd designed the rear forks around.
The rear forks... that are 2" box steel (8 gauge box steel no less!) that are hard-welded in place. Getting that extra 11mm of width without breaking any welds was a bitch and a half, and eventually involved using a scissor jack from my car to very carefully push the forks apart wincing at every crak and ping coming from the metal. I can ride it to work fairly easily, saving gas and getting a little extra exercise, and frankly with the electric assist this thing is hilariously fun.
It can also be downright terrifying - with a good straightaway, if I put the hammer down on the boost motor it'll get up to 50 km/h even with a mere 500w motor, and on somethign this low-slung built out of my dogshit welding and slightly wonky steering, it's absolutely wild.
Anyway, the point is... if I can do it, so can you! I want to see other rider's DIY setups!

Bike pics You think anyone noticed
I forgot my keys at home when I went to the gym this morning so I wasn’t able to lock up my bike and I wasn’t allowed to bring it inside so I did this. The gym is in mall and I doubt anyone with bad intentions is walking around here at 7 in the morning.

Pedelec Bike lane or sidewalk and at what speed (WA)
During rush hour, would it be safer to ride on the sidewalk than ride in the bike lane? I was in a hurry to get to work earlier in the day of making this post, so I chose to ride in the bike lane but I had a gut feeling that I should have rode on the sidewalk. Less than a block close to my work place, a truck turned in front of me into a parking lot without committing all the way (stopping at the entrance of the entry that's connected to the sidewalk) so I crashed into their side at ~20 mph. I'm grateful that nothing broke, just bruising on my right shin when the pedal smashed into it.
I wish I had a recording device for POV but too broke right now for one, even though I was talking to my girlfriend about getting one.
I was wearing my girlfriend's LS2 motorcycle helmet, Alpinestars SP gloves given to me by my work manager, work winter jacket and work uniform underneath, Levi jeans and a Walmart waterproof boots at the time of the crash. I'm thinking of just leaving much more earlier and gearing down from the motorcycle helmet to a neon yellow beanie, shades for the sunlight, and from the Alpinestars gloves to 100 Plus gloves. And riding at a slower speed between 10-15 mph. Any advice/thoughts?

Huffy Vertis (bought early Oct) – possible tampering? Looking for second opinions (pics)
Hey everyone, Got this Huffy Vertis around the 1st of October. It’s been locked outside. Tonight a few things looked off and I’d like a second set of eyes. What stood out to me: Fresh-looking white scuff/residue marks on the rim right around both valve stems. Several bolts (stem, top cap, crank, disc brake calipers, cassette) have shiny spots and dirt patterns that don’t match the rest of the bike — almost like they were recently turned. A small black cylindrical piece near the crank area looked loose / out of place. At the rear hub (motor side), the cable/boot and axle area look like they may have been disturbed (photo included). General handling marks and dirt around the stem top-cap, headset area, and brake calipers. Nothing is obviously missing and the bike still powers on, but the combination of marks has me concerned. I’ve attached close-ups of: Overall bike Valve stems (white marks) Stem / top cap from multiple angles Brake calipers Crank / chainring area Rear hub axle & motor cable Cassette Does this look like normal wear, factory marks, or just dirt… or does it look like someone was messing with it? Anything specific I should check more carefully (battery lock, controller connectors, torque/cadence sensors, motor cable, etc.)? Appreciate any honest takes. Thanks.

HELP
There’s a persistent grinding sound that eases a little bit when I press the brake. Can I ride this home or will riding on this for 30mins destroy my bike? Did I fully lose a brake pad?

Thinking of getting this bike but cant stop thinking about thefts and all.
I have been a full time bike rider for more than four years I think. Like I used it for pretty much everything. My wife had a car but I used bike to work to tesco runs, used it when meeting friends and what not. To the point that my wife used to joke that i loved bike more than her which might not be wrong lol.
But someone stole it in 2022. Like I came down and it was gona. I had it locked but cable lock was cut (half of it was on the rack) I can still imagine entire situation in my mind and feel goosebumps. Also, I didnt park it outside I had it in a bike store outside our apartments and it was secure but at that time main door was not being locked properly so yeah. I obviously reported it to the police and got a crime number and all but never heard back ever. They didnt even follow up smh. I remember back then I used to get excited whenever I would see call from an unsaved number but it was never them.
I even kept the spare key in my drawer hoping against hope that it will be recovered lol.
But ong story short, I never replaced it. Because my wife already had car and I started communicating on public transport when I was alone.
Now we are a family of 4 and we think we need a 2nd car. Because before this mostly my wife was managing school drop offs of our 5 years old. Now our yonger daughter needs to be dropped off to nursery too and we think that with single car things are generally not manageable. Its getting hard for my wife too.
We cant afford a car and also because bikes are best so we are thinking of getting a cargo bike. Also there would be no extra gas charges so its a win win for us. But I can see even bikes are kinda very expensive lol. And I soo dont wanna get it stolen this time.
I am gonna get D-lock this time obviously. Not making that mistake again. But i also want something else because a lock just keeps honest people honest lets be real. Also I am gonna take this one to my apartment at night but I am worried about work or when going for groccery etccc.
Bike shop guy was telling me about sentry modes and how it buzes alarm when someone tries to mess with it. And that you can even track modern bikes with gps even if the bike battery is removed.
I havent looked into it properly yet but the idea of knowing someones touching your bike while youre inside is appealing. Also slightly paranoid but yeahh thats where i am now lol.
I guess what i want to know is does any of this stuff work or is it just one of those features that sounds good until someone with bolt cutters turns up. Because ive seen airtags mentioned alot on here too and i cant tell if thats actually better or worse than having something built in.
Also what else you guys do to keep them safe?

How concerning is lateral wobble in a Shimano Deore FH-T610 freehub body?
Hey everyone, I have a Shimano Deore FH-T610 rear hub on selfmade e-bike, and I've noticed that the freehub body has developed a noticeable lateral wobble. This hub has just 2000km, 8 Months old. The cassette itself is securely mounted and does not wobble independently of the freehub body. The freehub body itself is what appears to be running out of true when the wheel rotates.
Some details about my setup:
Hub: Shimano Deore FH-T610 Drive: Bafang BBS01B 250W 36V mid-drive motor Usage: Daily riding, often with loaded and sometimes a packed trailer Mileage on the hub: Approximately 2,000 km over 10 months Rear axle: 135 mm QR
Since a mid-drive motor puts additional torque through the drivetrain and freehub, I'm wondering whether the freehub body or its bearings could have been damaged by the load. How concerning is this kind of lateral wobble? Is it something that can be caused by normal wear or a worn freehub bearing, or could it indicate damage to the freehub body, axle, or hub itself? Would you continue riding it for the time being, or would you replace the freehub body or the entire hub as soon as possible? I'd appreciate any experiences or advice, especially from people who have dealt with a similar issue on a Shimano hub. Thanks!

Is the kugoo wish 02 pro better or the windhorse y1?
So I've been considering both these ebikes here in Qatar. I lowk like the Y1 more because it has adjustable suspension and apparently higher top speed. At the same time I have read posts about people complaining about its low torque although it apparently has Overdrive or SCS. Kugoo wish 02 has good torque right out of the box so quite confused rn pls help!

Bike repair question Repair after a crash
So, it might sound possibly minor compared to what could’ve happened. I have a rather cheap e-bike since it’s what I could afford (250$) and I recently crashed it going about 15-20mph, and it happened more specifically a week ago. Long story short, I have a large scrape on my left cheek and several small cuts going up the left side of my forehead, a healing black eye, a sprained thumb, and several other scrapes on my hands and knees.
The crash caused my bike to stop working because it made the wiring completely slash apart from the monitor where the speed is on the right side. I’m wondering how it could be fixed if anyone in this Reddit knows how to repair e-bikes. My battery works for sure since my light and my horn work, but the throttle& peddle assist just won’t work, and we have tried to splice the wiring back but that didn’t seem to do it. We have a new throttle system coming in but we are completely unsure if it’s the root of the issue or if it will actually work.
Note: the power system that is hanging in the picture (that the key is attached to) did not happen because of the crash, we had to take that part apart to splice the wiring. However, the front is because of the crash where I split the wiring in half. I also do not know how I fell (I blacked out) but there was nothing around me to make me fall. Just sidewalk and an empty road.
Do you guys have any ideas on what the problem may be, and is it even worth it to fix? Should I just get a new bike/ebike?

Bike purchase question Any Drop Bar, Belt Drive Ebikes Available in US?
I’m looking for an ebike with drop bars and a belt drive. I know it is not a common configuration, but I see multiple European brands offer it, such as:
- Desiknio Dopamine Peak (https://www.desiknio.com/e-bikes/dopamine-peak)
- Konrad Uthan Gravel (https://www.konradbikes.de/e-bikes/urban-gravel/)
- Urwahn Waldwiesel (https://www.urwahn.com/ebikes/gravel)
However, none of those brands currently sell in the US, and as far as I can tell, trying to import one stateside is a fools errand. Are there any bikes currently sold in the US that meet my criteria? Thanks!

Anyone have a r19 and g300 pro?
I expect to be starting a job in a new city and planning to get a e-bike for the commute as well as some recreational activity.
Anyone here had each and if so which do you like best?
