Hey guys,
I’m having an issue with my N52 engine that I can’t seem to figure out.
My car struggles to reach operating temperature when it’s cold outside. When the outside temperature drops below around 15°C, the coolant temperature stays around 60°C and doesn’t seem to go any higher. Unless i turn off the heating.
Here’s what I’ve replaced so far:
New OEM thermostat
New OE transmission oil cooler
Radiator replaced, but I don’t know the brand.
Despite replacing the thermostat, the engine still runs way too cold.
Has anyone experienced something similar with their N52? Could the aftermarket radiator be causing this, or should I be looking at something else?
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

I thought that I would have to open these to fix the lenses, turns out I just needed to sand them down. All the pitting and yellowing was on the outside this whole time. Cheap kit on Amazon for $20 and a little elbow grease fixed them up nicely.

As on every manual 15y+ bmw, my oem shifter wobbles like crazy.
Have been looking for dssr for this model, and could not find shi cause of the funky size of the selector rod. I am about to place in new selector rod joint and shortshifter, but im sceptic abt leaving original rod
Does anyone has any options besides weld-it-yourself kits?

Question for the N52 owners. I plan on storing this car for the winter, but don't have a garage and it will have to sit outside. My apartment complex will not allow car covers. Anything I should do to prep it for sitting for a couple of months?

Hello guys, how is the oil burning for you?

my n52b25 has 272kkm on the clock and is burning 0.5l every 3500km now, I use 5w40 from motul xcess 8100 gen2, did anybody try the 5w50?

2x4 pressure treated wood with 3-in screws, 3 ton floor jack.

How bad is this and do you guys think I should keep driving like this

has 250k miles, tons of damage on the outside, crusty rear subframe and arms, rear wiper started acting out, a stray cat wandered inside and I closed the door on it without realizing so it scratched the dash and A pillar cus it freaked out, damaging a mint 20 year old dash....

panoramic sunroof, black headliner, basic seats, m-ask idrive, no cruise control, no xenons, overall goody ahh config

burns oil, suffers from the n52b25 plague (blow-by), but still revs to 7k happily and is still an e9x, which imo still gives most cars a run for their money

just making this post to honor it and to showcase how much prices vary in different countries

I'm having a drama with my key fob or slot. Hopefully not cas.

So 2010 323i non comfort acess

I'll give the issue then what iv done to work out my next step

The fob works fine for locking, unlocking

Once I slap it in the slot it's mostly doesn't work and sometimes does

When not work the fob does not lock in

( I feel like locking and unlocking it a heap then putting in gets it working although thay just in my drive way while I drive another car during this issue)

Once the key registers it starts fine

I use a icarsoft bmm scan tool.

No cas fualts.

Battery is around 6 months old and tested fine on the scanner with 12.8 voltage

When its not registering the key the scanner is saying the cas thinks no key is there.

Iv pulled the fob reader slot out. Seems fine to the eye.

My next step is to source a key fob reader ( little tricky in australia)

If that doesn't work possible work out what to prob with the multi meter

Just picked up this 2011 BMW E91 318d Touring with the infamous N47 engine!
Coming from an E46 320i with the M54B22 straight-six and a 5-speed manual, it’s definitely a different experience. 😂
Paid €4,500 for it. It’s currently sitting at 219,000 km, and the timing chain was replaced around 1,000 km ago.
It’s got the 6-speed automatic, CIC Professional navigation, panoramic sunroof, heated seats, xenons, Comfort Package and a bunch of other options.
Everything works, the automatic shifts smoothly, and honestly, it’s incredibly comfortable compared to my E46. The only thing I miss is the straight-six sound and the power. 😂
Thinking about getting a Stage 1 tune eventually to bring it closer to 320d power (184 hp).
Did I get a decent deal? Anything specific I should look out for on these E91s, especially with the N47 and automatic transmission?

I got this code on my dash I was wondering if anyone knows how to fix this. I just replaced my vanos solenoids with Holsteins a couple months ago, oil level is fine, wires and connectors look fine I even cleaned them with electrical contact cleaner.

This isn’t the best picture but I noticed a decent sized coolant puddle on the passenger side of the motor. I haven’t had chance to put the car in the air yet but I didn’t see any leaks from the top of the engine. So I was wondering if there’s and common leaks on the bottom that I should be expecting

Recently I bought an E91 from 2005, and I'm really happy with it. But it's supposed to have comfort access, which isn't working.

There's some things I've already tried. I replaced the battery in the car, because it was quite old. I also made sure to program it in. I replaced the battery in the keyfob as well. I checked fuse 5 and 19, which were both still okay.

I do have some error codes when scanning the car with Bimmerlink. I have the code D2C4, which is a CAN bus error that should be directly related to the comfort access system. I have some other can bus errors as well like E584, DA04 and D944, but I haven't noticed any issues besides the comfort access not working. I'm guessing the problem is somewhere in the CAN system, but where should I start looking?:

- Door handles? I've read that those can develop an internal short. But can that cause all those other CAN errors?

- Comfort access module?

- Damaged cables? But where?

- Something else?

If anyone has an idea of where I should start looking or how I can narrow down the cause would be appreciated.
