A friend of mine has a '99 323i saloon. It's SE spec (cloth seats), manual, no extras, fresh clean MOT. It's only done 41k miles, the interior is mint, bodywork is very good apart from rather frilly rear arches. He's fairly convinced that it's only worth about 1500 quid but assuming the arches are as bad as it gets I'm sure it's worth more and that he'd be silly to let it go for that.

Any thoughts?

i got a cheap 400€ e46 from Marketplace and wondered if it is worth it to fix…

it has 217479 miles

Timing chain prob didnt get replaced since 2003
Rusty wheelwells (got some metal to cut and weld)
Sideskirts edges are rusty (also with metal fixable)

front and rear shocks are blown
rear springs are dead
looses oil at the steering sticks
need new wishbones
need new brakes
need new mirrors
need new headlights
turbo whistles under accel (prob sth intake shit not sealed)
airbag lamp is on and safety belt light wont light up and beep

belt is squeaking a bit
the car is a bit rusty (like the cars outer floor) but with a rust remover and a new floor coat should fix

is this worth it? or not

i got it checked by a professional, in my country you need a inspection to drive he inspected it and told me those are the things to do so i can get it on the road, my father works at a automotive parts shop and gets the parts like 80% off and i love old cars- in my country there is nothing in that price range for a e46

Anyone know the best place to buy this seal? I took it off to change the window regulator, and since then rainwater has been pouring in and ending up in the door pocket :(

Hi I am hoping to find someone with this trim installed and that could just show me how it looks installed. Came across a set while looking for the plane aluminum, don’t really know if I like it. Could be a bit more interesting visually but maybe it is too much with laguna seca seats and potentially carbon fiber door trims it could just look tacky with this combination 😅

I am considering buying this off marketplace for my sedan. The seller says it was meant for an m3. There is no struts included in the kit.

I have bilstein coilovers that I could use with these.

I believe the front bags are universal and I heard mixed things about them. The rear ones do not look the same as the other ones I am seeing online so I am worried it won't fit.

The guy is willing to sell it to me for 750cad ~540usd. He says the kit was never installed.

The kit comes with the air tank, 2 compressors, the air management and the bags.

I have been looking into buying a proper kit for a bit but can't really justify spending ~3500cad on one. I never installed air but I do a lot of suspension work on my car.

What do you guys think? Should I buy it?

J’ai mis un coup de pince elle a redémarré, mais je sentais qu’elle batterie était faible deux jours. Après, j’ai chargé la batterie et là elle ne démarre plus du tout. Mon tableau de bord est aussi éteint zéro lumière à part le voyant airbag les phares s’allument, l’habitacle s’allument. Le démarreur fonctionne bien je sais pas d’où vient le problème

Does anyone have experience with vanos still rattling despite being practically brand new? I purchase a pre rebuilt one advertised with anti rattle kits installed and when it came it was solid, after installing my rattle still persists. I read that there can be a 500 mile break in period and that it could be a potential cause but that’s all, anyone else have this experience it’s a fresh rebuild?

Yeah i passed and got my drivers license and my first car is a BMW E46 316i '99.

I have already posted my car on here plenty times so i wont be putting up a same picture of it again, what i came here for is to ask how will the driving experience be in that car now once i start driving it?

I have driven a toyota yaris 2023 (im pretty sure its NA 3 cylinder) in the driving school and obviously that car is a whole different world compared to my E46 its not the same at all, but since im not an experienced driver and i've never driven a car such as my E46 i have no idea what to expect from it.

I know that my car is mechanically different, but how much of a difference is it when you actually sit and drive the car? My car has a bit more horsepower than the yaris, will i feel any difference? It has hydraulic steering, its rwd, it doesnt have hill assist and it only has ASC and ABS will i notice any of those things?

Honestly i have no idea, but i know that i'll love driving this car.

I ordered this OEM light bulb ( the one with the bulb in it ) to replace the one with the cracked light bulb … but it does not fit when I try closing the housing … does anyone have a part # to the light socket with the yellow backing as it was a perfect fit ?

Just replaced water pump bled the coolant system took for a test drive for 1 5 to 20 mins.. coolant temp stayed at 95 96c and the thermostat needle stayed slightly off the middle. now I noticed the expansion tank is making a gurgling noise towards the cap....After several minutes with the car off the gurgling stops... Any idea why and how to fix it?

in search of main cap bolt for my m54 right now and most one I’ve found are absurdly expensive, so I came across this eBay set of N57d30 main cap bolt with identical spec to the m54, but the only difference it had is the length of the main cap bolt. the m54 is 92mm and n57d30 are 85mm shorter so does the 7mm make any difference for daily/spirited driving?

Hello everyone!

I need to change the axle nut off my e46. The thing is that the nut was already rounded out and cannot get a socket to stay for me to break the nut with a breaker bar. I already have a replacement axle with new nut and everything so I was thinking on breaking the nut. I don't have a torch so I need a way to cut it or if anyone knows another way it would be greatly appreciated.

So I currently drive a 2005 330xi but up looking to get into something more “sporty” so I’ve been searching for a coupe. This one is 4 hours from me seller asking 8k but said he can negotiate the price. I’ve been searching specifically for this interior and finally found a clean example. Not much maintanence history on it but it has low miles. What’re your thoughts/opinions?
