DVC ToolKit app

Part of what I like about DVC is the planning process of fun trips. The excitement of staying at a new resort and tracking how points I have and what availability is out there. I used DVC Toolkit for all of those purposes. I just found out that they pulled the plus subscription from the app and it lost most of its useful functionality. Does anyone else use this app? I wonder why this happened.

Small Contract Strategy

Im thinking about joining via resale and buying 3 small (50-75 point) contracts at Saratoga, AKL, and Bay Lake. My thinking is I can borrow/bank enough points so that about every 9 months I can stay at one of these resorts for ~4-5 nights in a studio. what am I overlooking here?

is it risky to rent out points as an owner?

we go down 1-2 times a year, but have extra points this year .. fb groups are asking for rentals and some seem like nice people.

is there alot of risk or risk for fraud when you rent out points to someone you dont really know ?

Jambo House or Kidani Village

Planning to do a 6 night trip in June 2027. We will have 2 younger kids, 2 adults, and 2 grandparents, so 2 savanna view deluxe studios. We are planning to do a resort heavy stay, maybe 2 park days. Which one would you pick?

Resale Perks

Recently purchased my first contract (resale). I'm fully aware of all the member "benefits" resale members don't qualify for.... but I'm curious if there are any benefits or little perks we do qualify for. For example, can resale members get the DVC magnets they hand out periodically? Any other perks people may not know about?

Transferring points

Where do people go for trusted transfers of points. I used Timeshare Inc but they don’t have any 2027 UY contracts available right now. Im looking for 250-275 points so it will be costly & I’m scared to use FB… just seen so many horror stories. But maybe people have good luck there?

Anyone owners rent DVC points? (As renters, not owners)

I think maybe I just wanna know how crazy we are 😂 so we own 200 points which is enough for us to do a couple vacations a year! But I found a good rental cash stay and is something we’d not be able to book with our points - both for the length of this stay + the time of year it is. it’s also a resort we've never stayed at and don’t own at.

But I realize maybe this was totally silly?! idk. like I could have put this $$ in more points 😂 don’t get me wrong, alone this cost is not enough for even a small resale contract. But I could have saved it for a future purchase?

*But* our kiddo is only going to be little for so long, I’m focusing on that vs it being the best use of $$$. Balance, is what I’m telling myself 😇

Need advice

We’ve kicked around the idea of DVC for awhile now. But can’t seem to figure out what’s best.

Family of four. Passholders. Go to Disney 4-5 times per year. Most stays are 5 days minimum.

We always stay around Epcot to avoid having to transport back to a resort after parks close. Unless it’s extra hours somewhere. Wood prefer to stay that way.

I almost pulled the trigger on Riviera while on a cruise but did not.

What do I do here? The resale market seems interesting but I don’t understand all the restrictions.

What am I losing if I buy all resale? What if I buy some from Disney and the rest through resale?

I’m sure you guys are tired of answering these posts, so thank you for any guidance here.

Anyone know how fast wifi is at Grand Californian or Disneyland Hotels?

We are newbie DVC members. My wife wants to attend the upcoming Epilepsy conference at Disneyland and wants to stay at the Grand Californian or Disneyland Hotel. I work from home but unfortunately can't take vacation during this time. I can work remotely but need wifi speeds faster than 20-30Mbp/s for the work I do. Even at those speeds my file transfers and remote connections would be a nuisance. My job is video calls while connecting to remote cloud systems and downloading/moving large files (GB's), db searches and AI usage. I have a laptop with portable dual monitor system. I would also need to work from the room and couldn't work from a public/common area.

Does anyone happen to know the current down/up wifi speeds at either of those hotels? I've tried the wifi in a few non-Disney hotels in the past and it was anywhere from 2-10Mbp/s and it was just way to slow. I could hotspot it I guess but my personal plan doesn't include unlimited data and I don't have a company phone.

Thanks!

Boulder Ridge 1br Room?

Hi all,

I’m back to ask about room requests.

We are staying 7 nights at BR 1br villa in July. My older is neurodivergent, and my youngest is 2. We will have a double stroller too.

I was thinking of requesting a room on the 1st floor so we have more time to get things together and out the door (my older kiddo can have some challenges transitioning). But I am also concerned about potential noise levels bc everyone has to pass through the first floor (my kiddo is also sensitive to loud sounds).

So with that in mind, would you recommend I request a room on the first floor, or maybe the 2nd floor?

THANK you!

Edit: if there is a specific room number you’d request, I’d appreciate it!

What happened today?

I have been stalking the site to modify a reservation for over 2 months. The second week of November wax slammed and there has been nothing available. All of a sudden today, EVERYTHING opened up, like every resort and room type. Anyone know what happened? Did commercial renters have reservations cancelled? Anyone have any insight?

Buy DVC when I don't plan on visiting until 2028?

We rented DVC points this year at Polynesian and Boardwalk. Loved it and plan on buying resale Polynesian at some point. Would have considered Boardwalk or Beach Club but I prefer a longer deed.

We already have two trips planned next year 2027 outside of Disney. So we won't use any points until 2028 most likely. I was planning to purchase whenever I find a desirable resale Poly contract for about 150-160 points.

I know we can rent out points we don't use in 2027 or bank them to 2028 but does it make sense to buy now if we won't use until 2028? I see there's a few stripped or near stripped resale Poly contracts out now but they don't look like great deals for stripped. The slight 10-15 reduction in price/point seems not worth it. I'd still need to pay 2027 dues (unless negotiated with the seller) and have no points. Whereas a non-stripped that costs a bit more, I can pay the dues but rent out the points to cover that cost for just 2027.

Tl;Dr Does it make financial and "crystal-ball" sense to buy DVC now when we won't use it until 2028 or wait until same time next year to buy?

Cost of Renting Points Versus Booking Direct With Disney on Promotion: am I missing something?

My family is just starting to get in to big Disney vacations (and I’m STOKED). I have been looking a bit in to the DVC universe, as it were. I had booked with Disney direct on the $250 off a night promo for tickets and accommodations for 2027. After doing that, I went does a rabbit hole looking at renting points. We booked 3/1-3/5 at SSR in a 2 bedroom, with 9 people total (I know we’ll be tight. 😬 More than half of the group are small children who will sleep on the pull downs.) The package for the accommodations plus the 4 day passes for 9 people came to $10310. When I look at ticket only pricing, it’s $6427 of the package, so the accommodations part of that deal is only $3883. When I look at the chart for SSR for that time period, it LOOKS to me that we would need 41 points per night for that same period for a 2 bedroom. So, that would be 164 points. So if we look at what I paid versus points, it’s equivalent of paying 23.67/point. Looking around, I don’t see many rentals points for much less than this rate. Am I looking at the wrong places or thinking about this wrong? Or looking too early to get a deal on renting points? Or are there just direct deals at Disney that sometimes just make this less of a “deal?”

Which SSR Building?

Hi there!

We are heading to WDW in April, staying 5 nights in SSR. The plan is 2 park days and 2.5 resort/disney spring days (def doing dinner at trex one of those night for my Dino loving kids).

We have never stayed in SSR before, and wondering which Paddock building would you suggest requesting.

We def would like to be close to the bus (if there is a more reliable one). We have a double stroller, which can be a headache getting on to a crowded bus with it.

On resort days, we love hanging out in the pools, and would definitely like to spend one day at the paddock pool and the other day at the carriage house pool. Truthfully, SSR seems to have a lot of great activities for little kiddos, so we are excited for the resort days.

So considering transportation location, and easy access to walking paths to the pools and springs, which building would you recommend?

Thank you!

WDW Transportation

Hi everyone,

We are new owners at the Disneyland villas. We are annual pass holders at Disneyland and often drive in for the day, park at the lot and then take the tram in. We are looking at using our points to take a trip to Disneyworld. It looks like transportation is a huge deal between the different resorts. But I’m wondering why more people don’t just drive from the resort hotels to the theme parks each day, especially over bus transportation. We are planning to get a rental car anyway to get from the airport to WDW and it seems like parking is free at DVC hotels and theme parks. I’m not sure if it’s a cultural thing as we are from LA and used to driving everywhere or if there are factors I’m missing.

For context, Magic Kingdom is our lowest priority being frequent Disneyland goers. I can see the skyliner being a great option for the Epcot area resorts, but Animal Kingdom Lodge is the resort I’m eyeing most which is all bus transportation.

Thanks in advance for any input!

Editing to add: We are a family of 5 with 3 young children. We are still traveling with 3 car seats and a double stroller (maybe would bring a smaller umbrella stroller for this trip but nice to have the option for my older two to take turns resting their legs and to throw all of our stuff in the giant stroller basket underneath). The idea of loading the stroller quickly and not hold up the line sounds a little daunting, though I’m sure we’re not the only family boarding the bus with a stroller! (We used to walk from the Mickey and Friends parking lot at Disneyland to avoid the tram, though we have now figured out a good system for relatively quickly breaking down the stroller now that the youngest isn’t a baby anymore and the older one can help carry a stroller seat and/or a bag onto the tram).

Editing once more to add: Thanks everyone for your replies! Genuinely so many good points to consider. I feel like if someone takes time out of their busy lives to comment that I should acknowledge it so I’ve tried to reply to all of the comments, but it’s getting harder to keep up. So feel free to keep adding your experiences and thoughts. It will hopefully help someone else coming across this thread planning their own trip! But I’ll likely stop responding to all of them. Thanks again!! May your kindness be returned to you on your next Disney trip! :)

Boulder Ridge Contract Analysis

I’d appreciate any feedback or missing parts when evaluating different contracts for Boulder Ridge. My use case is only needing DVC for the next 15 years hence why I’m looking at shorter length contracts. Due to family size I will be in need of a 2 bedroom for most stays. Trips will generally occurred in late May to early June or mid December. Trying to average between 7-9 days per trip per year.

Thanks in advance!

Polynesian Resort

Hi! Long time DVC member. Home reports are Animal Kingdom and HHI. 90% of the time we stay at Saratoga because we enjoy it. We have a lot of points and need to get rid of some, so booked 7 nights at Poly in April. We booked Deluxe Studio Preferred view. I just want to make sure if anyone knows that is NOT the new tower. We do not want to stay in there. Thank you!
