Info / FAQ New & Returning Player FAQ

Post image
410 Upvotes

\An effort will be made to update this list once we know more, or see new questions pop up**

___

Q: Is the game worth getting back into?
A: Yes. The state of the game as of Monuments of Triumph is widely considered the best version of Destiny 2 we've had in a while. There is no content that will be removed. And, in the future, previously vaulted content will be returning!

Q: What is currently F2P/What is currently paid?
A: This post details that information as of September 2026.

Q: Linux?
A: Nope, sorry!

___

Q: What happened?
A: On September 21st 2026, Bungie announced that they will continue the Destiny Franchise & as a show of good will be unvaulting Destiny 2 content so that we have a complete game. You can read more here: bungie article or watch it here: youtube interview.

Q: What is being unvaulted?
A: The campaigns Red War, Curse of Osiris, Warmind, and Forsaken. The destinations Titan, Io, Mercury, Mars, and the Tangled Shore. The Raids (sometime lairs?) Leviathan, Eater of Worlds, Spire of Stars, Scourge of the Past, and Crown of Sorrow. In addition, there will likely be several strikes and crucible maps that should also be returning. These are all that have been currently confirmed. We do not know if Seasonal content will be returned!

Q: Should I start now or wait for unvaulting?
A: This one is up to you. IF you want to experience the 'entire story' of destiny 2 from start to finish you could wait for unvaulting. The main reason to start now would be to get a head start on acquiring things that wont really be changing (filling out subclasses, acquiring exotics, acquiring 550 power). So, IF you'd rather have a head start, start now so you can focus on new things later.

Q: Will the unvaulting be F2P?
A: Yes.

Q: Will Holiday events be returning?
A: We don't know yet!

Q: Is Destiny 3 in development?
A: As of now, no, but Bungie have stated that the Destiny franchise will continue somehow.

___

Q: Why am I Light/Power Level 10?
A: During Edge of Fate, Bungie decided to give us a stat squish for the purposes of readability. You will notice that your damage numbers are now primarily below 5 digits as well, while in truth, you're usually dealing a higher % of damage than before due to new systems and stats like Weapons and Super. If you complete almost any activity you will be shot up to 300 power very quickly and will only have to grind up to the cap of 550. Its recommended that you infuse weapons you enjoy including exotics. However, old armor Is essentially useless and can safely be replaced with armor that has a Set Bonus. New exotic armor is also all higher stat than anything you previously had.

Q: I just came back to the game and I'm lost, what should I do?
A: This is an incredibly loaded question. Everyone has different priorities. The most common answer I've seen has been to complete the campaigns in order so you have an idea of the story and then to work on completing subclasses and filling out your exotics. By doing these three things you've enabled yourself to create basic builds.

Campaigns -> Unlock Subclasses -> Acquire Exotics/power grind -> Play whatever you want!

Campaign order as of September 2026:
Shadowkeep -> Beyond Light (Stasis Subclass) -> Witch Queen (peak) -> Lightfall (mid but Strand Subclass (peak)) -> The Final Shape (Prismatic) -> Edge of Fate (Nine Saga, which may be left behind) -> Renegades (The star wars crossover expac which includes the Praxic Blade aka Lightsaber)

Once unvaulted, the order will start with:
Red War -> Curse of Osiris -> Warmind -> Forsaken -> Shadowkeep...

Discussion I have returned to Destiny. What is everyone’s favorite enemy?

Post image

I am so back. I have not played Destiny since like 2019/2020. I have been absorbing all of the lore and once again have “fallen” (😏) in love with the Hive. Everything about them is so interesting to me. The history of Fundament, the worm gods and the Leviathan, the Sword Logic……..the aura of the Taken King himself.

What about you guys?

Discussion I’m finally free.

After 20+ attempts, I finally have slain the beast that is the Master Conquest: Derealize. I tried every build I had and even created new ones and could not get it done for the life of me. How I finally did it is kind of funny, so I thought I’d share.

Prismatic Buddy Build, Electric Slide, pure Arc, and a few variations of a pure Stasis build and I just couldn’t do it. I ran out of time and died in the boss room or to the hardest jumping puzzle in the game imho. I finally made a Rimecoat Raiment build using Ager’s Scepter and The Slammer to get it done, but not before various tweaks and failed attempts.

The final straw was dying in the boss room to the eyes. I completely forgot about them while I was damaging the boss and died right after my timer expired. That was the last straw. I created an LFG and got a lobby full of potentially helpful Guardians to help me out. Couldn’t pull them into my fireteam. Disbanded the LFG. Tried again. Same thing. I was so frustrated that I jumped back in and was like, “F**k this. I’m done.” (By the way, I realized afterward that my router had done an upgrade and put me on Double NAT, so that’s why those Guardians weren’t able to join my fireteam.)

I only died once on the run when I cleared it: completely preventable and overzealous in the shielded Subjugator room. I got back on the horse and beasted that room, nailed the jumping puzzle, and went into the boss room with 3 minutes on the clock. I played it perfectly in the there and didn’t die once. As you can see from the screenshot, thank goodness I didn’t because I probably would’ve died again (because it’s hard to get back up and running in that room when you respawn) and run out of time.

I am never playing this activity again. Not solo for a flawless run, not with a fireteam, not for all the Bright Dust in the world. I am free, and able to play the game again, after a good night’s sleep.

Tell me what build you beat this with, or if it is also your White Whale.

Art Girlfriend Drew My Character

My girlfriend took like a month and a half just to draw my hunter from D2!

Let me know what you guys think. She's not all too confident about her skills, but I think it looks amazing.

I would love to write out a little love letter with some positive comments about it, and hopefully she starts to build herself up for her projects in the future.

Let me know what you think!

And to be clear I don’t mean the rarest emblem you own. What one are you feeling with your overall guardian aesthetic right now? Curious what flare sparks joy for you! Cheers guardians!

To all you Guardians that carried my sorry ass thru Trials yesterday and today, 95% of you were awesome. THANK YOU! I suck at pvp and have been wanting to do this for the longest time.

I know, Bungie changed it so losses dont count, but for me this is a triumph.

Discussion If Titan is coming back, that means Greg The Ogre is coming back too.

For anyone who does not know, Golmutt was a boss ogre in a Titan Lost Sector that, at the time, was repeatedy used as a testing bed for damage by everyone because we didn't have the Tower Shooting Range or even the Triumph Room on the Leviathan back then. Hence the name Greg, because you'd pop in to test your cool new weapon and be like "Oh hey Greg, I need to kill you real quick."

Question Should I buy the last two dlcs from Destiny 2?

• Upvotes

I've seen a lot of people talk about this online, but none of those posts are recent. So I gonna ask the real question here: Should I get the last two DLC's The edge of fate and Renegades? Like if they a re going to put the OG content back and continue the story I want to be or have played everything the game has to offer.

Discussion Bungie reportedly in talks to help Disney and EA with battlefront 3

as usual take this with a grain of salt but honestly, id argue this makes sense considering the main complaint about renegades was that it was star wars which obviously isnt an issue if it just is a star wars game

Question If you could revert one nerf in Destiny, what would it be and why?

Post image
1.2k Upvotes

Over the years, Bungie has nerfed countless weapons, Exotics, abilities, and builds. Some nerfs were justified or unjustified , while others completely changed the way we played.

If you could undo just one nerf, what would you bring back to its former glory?

Ps: The image isn’t related to the post, it’s just there for illustration.

I’m going to be running them with unraveling orbs+to shreds on the artifact. I’ve noticed there aren’t too many great strand primaries out there, will need to get rufus fury when I can

Discussion so what's gonna happen with the titan vanguard position?

Post image
698 Upvotes

i've seen lots of ideas for it around but honestly i can't pick one.

familiar face somehow feels the least likely to me, i don't feel like there's anyone that would agree to take up that position, maybe sloane but from a meta perspective we would no longer have a vanguard representing EXO players

new character could work, would be a bit jarring for veterans but it's all in the execution really, as long as they're a good character with memorable lines and moments, they'll fit in well.

wildcard is a spot for anything else, like people suggesting rasputin comes back or orin takes the spot, i see those as unlikely but i will admit. they're cool as fuck

Gameplay / In-Game Video I have no idea why I died here, do you guys know?

i know truth is prone to blowing up in your face if youre not careful with ads, but im almost certain there was nothing near me and it blew up way before the clones actually appeared. my best guess is that truth detects that the clones are there before they are actually visible, since my rocket blew up basically right after the clone attack showed up in the feed. either way super annoying way to lose solo flawless, ive watched this back like 100 times just malding lol

edit: thanks for the responses and info. still not 100% certain what happened. but whether i hit a glimmer drop or my rocket got shot by the boss mid-air, i think my conclusion is that i will swap to a damage option where i cannot blow myself up especially for solo flawless lol
