I built a computer in August, and bought a Silicon Power UD90 PCIe NVMe Gen4x4 M.2 2280. This thing is insanely slow to install games and such. At first I just dealt with it, then decided to test.

This is crazy bad, right? Or am I missing something. Anything I can do to troubleshoot before I return?

Rest of PC Specs:

2x16 ram, ddr5 cl30

Hello, when I opened my laptop this morning this message popped up. I have tried the "loaf setup defaults" option and I don't have the legacy boot option under options. Please let me know if there's anything I can do, or should I let a professional check it out. Thank you! I'm sorry im not too sure about the specifics of the laptop such as CPU 😞

Question/Help/Troubleshooting Cannot for the life of me get a monitor to connect

• Upvotes

Hello Reddit. I have had a broken pc for 5 months now, and have decided to torture myself trying to fix it by myself instead of paying 300$ to get it fixed. I built this thing myself years ago and it’s my baby, I can’t let anyone else touch it.
For a while, it sat stuck at my CPU easy debug light, so I resat my CPU and it wasn’t stuck on that anymore! Then it got stuck on my RAM debug light, so I resat/rearranged my RAM, and then it went to boot!
But for some reason, I have been unable to get a monitor to connect to my computer. Every single time without fail, it says “no signal.”
I have tried absolutely everything I can even think to have tried to fix this issue. I bought a new monitor, I bought all new HDMI and video cables to try those, I bought a new graphics card, I tried on different monitors. But absolutely nothing has worked and I am genuinely so confused. I am lost and I have no idea what else I could do. Any suggestions would be very helpful.
Specs I’m not so sure on anymore because my dad replaced everything in here basically before I left, which is the weirdest part because it was working perfectly fine before. I have always had some sort of problem with my computer, but I’ve never been able to fix it all at once. Using a AMD Ryzen Processor, 3 Corsair RAM sticks, and a Geoforce RTX graphics card

This gaming PC only cost me $125 as I talked the guy down as the GPU power cable was missing so he agreed. I want to use this pc for local LLM. I know the GPU is 13 years old but it can be done based on my research prior to purchasing the PC. I would love to hear some advice on where to start and what systems and software to use.

Y'all might have heard about Wordcraft, so here's some comparison using one of my personal assignments back when I was in middle school (personal info orphaned obviously) as a test file. Also, just for the record. I didn't mean to discriminate with all Microsoft Word alternatives, just demonstrated curiosity only for you all.

Discussion Strangeness with Mini PC power supplies

So, we have two different lots of Dell Mini PCs. Same exact model. Came with two different power bricks, different brick model for each lot. Both are OEM adapters. One lot (older lot) BIOS says "under powered," despite being the power supply that came in the box with the PC.

The newer lot has a power adapter that works with either lot. Both are listed as 180 Watt power adapters.

Question/Help/Troubleshooting My laptop won't turn on.

Yesterday everything was completely fine. I was using it with charger on at 80% charge limit. I turned it off like usual with shut down button and... now it is not working. It is like the laptop has completely shut down. There is 0 light indicators or any noise.

1 or 2 months ago i spilled water on it and the keyboard was damaged and briefly the laptop itself wouldn't turn on for a short time but when i brought to get it fixed i we checked it and only damaged part was the keyboard.

Also, the model is ASUS TUF Gaming F16 with windows 11. I have got intel core i7, and a 4060.

Question/Help/Troubleshooting [Help | Guidance] Which is the best option Replacement or Buying new

Hi friends, so I have a Asus Tuf F15 (Fx506HF) i5 11th Gen H series RTX 2050 4GB. The problem is I've broken the display and the service center quotation is 10% of the retail price. Now I need help to decide if I should buy a new laptop or replace the display only. If buying new one is best, which is the best player out there in the market.

Thanks in advance.

So, someone let me play on their PC, and I think (I forgot) I pressed something on the monitor buttons and messed it up. After that, when he tried screen mirroring, the resolution wasn't full like it used to be, and now he doesn't trust me anymore. I DON'T WANT TO PLAY ON MOBILE ANYMORE!!!😭😭🙏🙏🙏

Question/Help/Troubleshooting Can i save this old PC?

Thumbnail

I recently dug up my old gaming-pc. Its about 8 years old, but outwards still in great shape. No damage to anything. I have installed it in my new apartment and am planing to use it for audio/video editing (and some gaming ofc). And general storage.

I have ran it now for a couple of days and its working okey… I cleaned it from old apps and removed all junk files. And am currently slowly installing all the updates for Windows that I have missed.

But its working extremely slow, and it doesn't ”meet the minimum requirements for Windows 11”. It a noticeably bad performance.

So my question is, can I save/upgrade it? I know very little about computers, but is there some parts i can exchange for newer versions in order to make it run faster? Or is there something else I can do with the system or settings?

These are the specs:

RAM - 8GB

CPU - Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-7400 CPU @ 3.00GHz

GPU - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti (4 GB)

64-bit system

Thanks!!

Question/Help/Troubleshooting I need help choosing between these two laptops for college.

I am going to college soon and I found myself in need of a laptop. My career will require me to do some programming courses/classes and a few mathematical stuff, but I also want to use the laptop for some light gaming. Furthermore, I want to try out Linux Mint on it to see if it's better than Windows. For the things that I need, these two are in a good price range for me and also have similar specs. But, I can't decide which one I should get. Any recommendations? Thanks.

Question/Help/Troubleshooting Certain websites won't load only on Wi-Fi with internal NIC

I have a client I'm helping with this issue and I'm stumped.

He has a laptop and his speeds on wifi are ~750mbs, except for certain sites like Amazon and AOL Mail, they take minutes to open if they open at all. He was on Xfinity using the ISP router, if he connects via ethernet speeds go up to ~1.2Gbps and everything loads fine. He also wanted to use his own router so we swapped him over to a unifi dream router 7 and have his ISP router in bridge mode, the issue is exactly the same with that. When he is at different locations on the wifi it works fine and if he uses an external USB dongle everything works fine though speeds stay around 300mbs (despite supposedly supporting up to 1800mbs).

My laptop also seems to load things fine there on wifi.

System has an Intel(R) Ethernet Controller I226-LM and a intel(R) Wi-Fi 7 BE200 320Mhz Card.

Besides what was listed above (changing routers, testing other PCs, and testing external wifi adapters) I also:

Cleared cache/history in browsers

Flushed DNS

Disabled IPV6

Changed DNS

Disabled UDP/TCP Checksum Offload

Winsock Reset

Cleared the Neighbor Cache

IP release & renew

Turned off power saving settings related to the network cards

Changed power mode

Downgraded from 802.11ax to 802.11ac (also tried 802.11be)

Changed channel widths

turned off packet coalescing

Disabled NS & ARP Offload

Disabled Large Send Offload

Throughout this process I got it to work a 2 or 3 times for 1-4 minutes before it came right back, specifically after Turning off IPV6 Checksums, along with offloads and 802.11 downgrade/swap.

I'm genuinely stumped, I'm hoping I'm just overthinking and missing something basic. I will admit I didn't call Xfinity but based on my previous experience with other clients and ISP support I'd likely be wasting 1-2 hours calling.

Any ideas are appreciated, no idea is a bad idea.

TLDR: Some websites don't work on wifi using the internal network card only, works on ethernet, other devices, and with external cards. Spent 2 hours bashing my head against a wall and reading fourms to try and figure it out with no luck.

Discussion Took my pc to a random computer repair store and I'm embarrassed they will go through my stuff

I'm not very good with technology but I enjoy having a pc so I just pay the price to have other people work on it lol.

Any who after I discussed pricing and stuff and gave it to them, they told me towards the end that they would need my password to go into it and make sure its working fine, makes sense I just didn't really think about that before hand. After I drove home and thought about it more I realized I have some weird shit on my computer (nothing depraved, just weird lmao) and I don't remember what the last thing was that I was looking at after it broke down. Now I'm a little worried they're going to open up some tabs to me falling down a rabbit hole of what a "bug chaser" is or why my feet get hot when I piss. I'm a little embarrassed but I guess I just gotta own it.

Anywho, how likely is it that these guys would care enough to look through it? or would they just open the few things they need to open and be done? Its like a small business kind of shop and the workers were just cute little nerds who seemed pretty chill so I don't think they will care enough. Anyone here who works in repair shops, be honest with me please

Question/Help/Troubleshooting is this ram and ssd storage worth it for $301 dollars?

hi im trying to build a pc and im looking a lot for parts like ram, gpu and cpu but since i am from nicaragua i can't really find some parts i really need without triple checking prices since a gpu that would be easy to find for 100 dollars less sometimes on ebay in the us here in nicaragua would be impossible (atleast for me)
so i wanted to know if i should buy this set that has a Ssd Samsung 980pro 1terabyte open box and 32gb Ddr4 corsair VENGEANCE PRO RGB aswell as it shows in the photos.
i wanted to ask here since offers on marketplace always disappear or get sold when i finally end my research so i wanted to know if its worth it
(i wanted to make a pc with a gpu like the rx 6800 and a amd cpu that could handle it well with a budged of like 600 or 700 dollars so im curious if this set would go well with the budged and would worth it even if i have to add like 100 dollars more so it could be a bit more future proof. i don't have high spectations since the best pc i had was a hp victus 15 i think with a 1650 gtx and 8gb of ram and the one im using now is one with a ryzen 3 7000 series and has amd radeon graphics with 8gb of ram aswell)
im sorry if my text is confusing, i didn't want to use ai since is agaisn't the rules and i just want a answer for my question and maybe learn a bit more by the comments of how to choose wisely and right the pc parts in the future
(if i have to edit anything in case i did broke any rule or if there is anything i should add to the post i would appreciate a comment to do it since im a bit dummy when using reddit or when im asking questions)
:)

Hi! I'm looking for a reliable all-in-one PC for my two daughters (10 and 13) to use for schoolwork, homework, and general family use.

I'd like something fast, durable, and that will last a good few years. I've been considering HP, Lenovo, Dell, and ASUS.

Any recommendations or models worth checking out?

Question/Help/Troubleshooting Is Blackview gamiBook 16 any good?

Post image

I’m looking for a new laptop for gaming and occasional video editing. I’ve been checking out the Blackview gamiBook 16, mainly for its 16 inch 2.5K screen. My understanding of hardware is basic, so the specs only tell me so much. I haven’t found many reviews.

any thoughts? TIA!
