Discussion A guide to Castlevania supplementary materials and where to read them
Symphony of the Night:
Promotional manga.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20190412154140)
This is a two pages long advertisement drawn by Ayami Kojima and published in a magazine, it's a sneak peek of Alucard's character.
Available on: Castlevania Wiki
An eight pages long manga included in the Japanese artbook, it acts as a prologue for the main story and features Alucard suddenly awakening from his 300 years long slumber.
Available on: Mr. P's Castlevania Realm
A radio drama (this time you have to listen to it!) originally featured on the Akumajō Dracula: Radio Chronicle program that was broadcast on Konami Station internet radio, it was later released on CD in 2010. It's a story set one year after the events of the game, you will learn more about Alucard's relationship with Maria, his past and other characters (Richter is also part of the cast).
Available on: Youtube
Curse of Darkness:
A prequel manga written and illustrated by Kojima, it was featured as a pre-order bonus for the Japanese release of the game. It mainly focuses on Hector and Isaac prior to the events of the game, it also expands on their relationships.
Available on: Vampire Killer (an archive of scans and translations)
Published in two volumes by Media Factory from 2005 to 2006 and translated to English by Tokyopop in 2008. It's the same premise but it's longer, more expansive and this time the illustrator is Kō Sasakura, not Ayami Kojima. The series was eventually canceled but the manga stops directly where the game begins.
Available on: Internet Archive
Aria & Dawn of Sorrow:
Reminiscence of the Divine Abyss/Ricordanza of the God's Abyss
A light novel written by Ryōgo Narita in 2008 and set one year after Dawn of Sorrow. It's a really interesting read, the story focuses on Julius' pupil and the descendant of Grant Danasty while the villain is a character you will surely remember... There's also the return of familiar faces, one in particular.
Available on: Inverted Dungeon
Castlevania The Adventure:
It's a 2005 IDW comic book series loosely based on the story of the first Game Boy game. It's not canon by any means but it follows Christopher Belmont in a more traditional vampire story, sadly many of the iconic Castlevania elements are missing but it's still worth a read since here a certain family is responsible for Dracula's resurrection.
Available on: Internet Archive
Lament of Innocence:
Weekly Konami online manga (lost media)
A web manga that was available on cellphones via a monthly subscription, published from 2007 to 2008 only in Japan until the service ended in 2012. It was a 43 issues long series that adapted the story of Leon Belmont and greatly expanded the plot, what remains now is only a Japanese review blog. If you want to know more about it you can visit the Castl)evania Wiki page).

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse (2026) Review of Castlevania: Belmont's Curse after 100% completion.
TL;DR: A great addition to the Metroidvania genre. 8/10. You can buy this one with your eyes closed. We need to let the French cook more often in the gaming industry.
Value for money: 6/5. Worth every penny (as a certain character says in the game).
Art, character design, and animations: 4/5. The French are absolutely killing it and should be proud of what they've created and how they've represented their country. The intro is a little unconventional, and combined with the music, it might initially make you feel like you're not playing a Castlevania game. But once you reach a certain special location, that's when the game truly begins. The bosses all feel unique, and the way Rose moves shows just how much passion went into making this game. Some visual effects can make combat a bit hard to follow, especially when there's a lot happening on screen. I highly recommend turning off camera shake.
Story and dialogue: 5/5. A great story that explores some compelling themes.
Challenge: 5/5. The game strikes the perfect balance between challenge and fairness. I recommend enabling the "Respawn at Boss" option. It's also accessible thanks to its difficulty settings.
Combat and gameplay: 4/5. The combat is fast-paced, weighty, and satisfying, and some enemies will genuinely catch you off guard. The platforming is well-designed, with instant respawns that keep things flowing. You can really feel yourself mastering the tools at your disposal as you progress through the game. That said, the whip pull attack, certain abilities, and some weapons can become a bit OP once you figure out how to exploit them.
Music: 3/5. A mixed bag. Some tracks are absolute bangers, while others are pretty mid.
Fan service: 5/5. Konami has finally managed to resurrect Castlevania like a vampire rising from its coffin. Hopefully, they'll remember what made their other franchises great too.
Edit: After giving it some more thought, I've decided to lower my score from 9/10 to 8/10. I think I was too generous with my initial rating. It's still a fantastic game, but an 8/10 better reflects my overall experience.

Art Just a watercolor Rose I did this morning.
Nothing too fancy in balance of the other arts we can see here but I wanted to share anyway.
Belmont's Curse is so good and I am so happy to see another Castlevania getting the light in the medias.
I play Castlevania since Bloodlines so it has a special place in my heart.
Hope you like it.

Art Prayer for the future (Castlevania Mini Fan-Comic)
First and foremost: I made this BEFORE playing the game, so there are inconsistencies. This is very rushed, because wanted to get it out before the game release but I didn't manage, so the art is not my best : , )
Okay, that out of the way- Castlevania 3 is so important to me! It's my most finished Castlevania game after Castlevania 1; I like that Trevor doesn't have to face the night alone and has a ending for all his companions. For me all of them are canon if you tweak here and there.
And I am In love with Belmont's Curse! I'm just 10 hours in and out of those 10, 6 I spent just playing around, so got to the castle and got the bad ending just yesterday. I love Rose so much TTATT
Hope everyone have fun playing it too!

Fluff An updated Belmont Family Tree
4 years ago I made a post with the Belmont family tree up until then, including me making some revisions based on members' feedback. With the release of Belmont's Curse I've added the new info to it as well as added a Netflix specific section.
EDIT: I've made some adjustments based on feedback!
EDIT 2: Updated... Again! See here for the edited version, or if you have trouble seeing on Reddit.

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse (2026) Muscular Rose mod is up (repost)
Sorry for the repost, but my other post announcing the release only got like 15 likes, after my initial reveal of it got over 1K, and I think that's due entirely to the fact that the other post didn't have an image to catch people's eye. So I'm just gonna post this one more time and leave it at that.

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse (2026) And with that, I have fully hunted the night!
After 16 and a half hours of playtime, I've finally completed Belmont's Curse fully. My personal take after fully clearing it out is that this is easily one of the best Metroidvania entries in the series and was everything I could've hoped for and then some. I understand this might not be everyone's cup of tea, particularly if you're an IGAvania diehard, but there's just so much to love here.
I should preface this with my general tastes when it comes to the franchise and in general. Platformers are my favorite genre, I generally prefer Classicvania to Metroidvania and my favorite of the latter is Circle of the Moon, a game that's notoriously difficult, has some egregious save point placements and a very vertical map that requires a lot of platforming finesse. So when the game throws tons of platforming challenges at me, I'm not bothered, I'm in my element. I loved that platforming really got a chance to shine in this game even if it is closer to something like Super Meat Boy or Celeste than Castlevania. That being said, fuck Notre Dame and its lasers, those genuinely sucked. Timing always felt inconsistent and adding waiting elements to sections with crumbling platformers that require you to go go go is terrible.
I should also say that I've never really cared about the RPG aspect of the previous Metroidvanias (and that starting two paragraphs with the same two words is bad writing). I don't hate them, but they're not what I come for the games for. I like, well, the Metroid aspect. Interconnected maps, ability gated progression, backtracking to old areas to uncover new ones with new abilities, all that is the main draw for me and Belmont's Curse is great about this. I love the maps in this game and found them a joy to explore. Going for 100%, I really appreciated how the actual map was colour coated to indicate if an area still had any secrets and how certain things, like crush blocks, would be automatically marked on the map so you'd know where to go back when you got new abilities without always needing to make your own markers. For someone wanting a great sidescrolling action-adventure title, they nailed it.
It's hard to say how I'd rank this game in the series overall, since there's obviously a lot of games in the series and I've basically played every 2D entry except The Adventure Rebirth and Vampire Killer MSX. But I can rank all the Metroidvania entries, including Simon's Quest fairly easily. My rankings are as follows: CotM>SotN>AoS>BC>DoS>HoD>PoR>SQ>MoF>OoE
Hopefully this game marks the start of a long term partnership between Evil Empire and Konami leading to many more games to come. Or they could get M2 to make more Classicvania titles like The Adventure Rebirth and Haunted Castle Revisited. I'm down for that too. Maybe a Rebirth Collection while we're at it?

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse (2026) I want to start playing a Castlevania game for the first time, is Belmont's Curse good for a first game ?
It would be my first Metroidvania game, but I'm used with video games.

Games Konami, please make a 1999 demon castle war game
I want to play as Julius Belmont and seal Dracula away in the eclipse over Japan. It would be awesome to see how powerful he really is in a modern game.

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse (2026) Just arrived at the castle!
Genuinely I'm hella giddy walking through these halls!!! The music is bumping, the enemies look beautiful, and dear God the game really makes me want to move forward in the environment!!! I want to explore it in a 3D space!!!
I'm having such a good time with this game and I don't understand all the "clunky" and "bad music" takes that are happening. To each their own I guess, but I personally don't see it.
Hope everyone else is having a good time!!

Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse (2026) This was by far the hardest Castlevania Boss Fight in all the Franchise Spoiler
After 42 tries, I finally beat him. It took all my willpower, skill and high-tempo precision control to master this intense battle. I think its safe to say, that Brauner from Castlevania: Belmont's Curse will go down in history of the castlevania lore as the hardest boss ever created. Insanity, pure insanity.
How many tries did you guys take?
