Traffic, Trains & Transit A commercial flight flew directly over a large unknown object on Sunday afternoon above San Pablo
[r/sanfrancisco](r/sanfrancisco) had this post auto-removed by Reddit filters. Hope this one stays up. Haven’t seen this posted anywhere elss
Edit: sorry, I made a mistake in the title. This was on Thursday afternoon, 10/15/26, not Sunday the 18th. The 18th is when the video was posted, and I should have taken the time to check my work more closely.

Events, Activities & Sports Man [Chantz Rivera] walks 2,577 miles from The Bronx to San Francisco [KRON 4]
tl;dr - Chantz Rivera has averaged 15-30 miles per day. He expects to be in San Francisco before Halloween.
Kinda cool to see someone taking on a coast-to-coast walk.
Here's hoping he planned his trip around the South Bay though and doesn't get stuck on Treasure Island (we really do need Caltrans to get a pedestrian path installed between TI and SF).

Scenes from the Bay Does anyone else remember this
I, (43F) Grew up in Hayward. In 1989 I was 6 years old. I have vivid memories of being at a facility with open floor plan bed sleeping arrangements. There weren’t any rooms with closed doors. We were always around each other. It was an octagonal building near the Hayward welfare office and police department, near Southgate Elementary. The beds were arranged in a large octagonal and labyrinth pattern, so it may have created the illusion of the building being that shape. There were maybe 45 other Hayward kids there of different ages. The open sleeping/bed layout was also coed. They dressed us in certain clothing. I remember them not having quite small enough size underpants for me, so I must have been on the younger side of the group. I remember complaining that they were not my correct size. They had to convince me to use the wrong sized underpants. They fed us the standard Faire well- balanced institution breakfasts of biscuits, eggs, sausage patties and fresh made orange juice. Then they would transport us to another location. After we ate they put us all in large yellow school bus to transport us to another location, It was about a 40-50 minute drive away. There was some uphill driving involved. It was the warm weather season. I remember it was hot in the bus and stuffy. I don’t remember where we went or what we did there. I remember that after they fed us breakfast each day, we collectively knew that next we had to leave to go to the other place, and it made us uneasy and nervous on a full belly of breakfast. We were nervous about what were being taken to do. Not afraid or fearful, but nervous and uneasy. One kid threw up on the bus ride one day. I was sat toward the back of the bus, and I remember the breakfast vomit went all the way down the flooring of the bus when we’re were driving uphill. I can still see it, and smell the sour orange juice smell mixed in with the stomach acids and breakfast foods. It reflected in the bright sun and was malodorous in the heat of the bus. I knew one of the kids there, but not by name. I can’t picture their face anymore. Also can still picture one of the other kids, his face has stayed in my memory for the last 37 years. He was fair skinned with dark, deep red hair and dark brown patchy freckles in his face. I remember being apprehensive of him for some reason. I was there for around 6 days. I remember not wanting to leave, and feeling a sense of rejection. My mom was in and out of jail or hospitals during my childhood, so had other stints in actual foster homes as well. I tried to ask her about it but she has no idea what I’m describing. I must have been a ward if the court at the time. Did anyone else have an encounter like this in Hayward around 1989? I’m finding literally zero other accounts like mine, but there were a lot of other Hayward kids there, so there has to be others that have this same memory. This memory has been haunting me for decades. I often wake up screaming out and begging for help, and I believe this may be why.

Work & Housing Moving questions
I live in Idaho, I’m originally from the Bay Area but moved away when I was a kid.
Now that I’m an adult and have formed my opinions about what I like and don’t like, I can say with a high certainty that Idaho is NOT for me. I miss California, it’s IMO the best state, and I want to live in a place where the culture and values are much more aligned with me.
I’ve been sending out resumes, and my resume looks pretty good for what I’m applying to I think. Maybe I’m wrong.
But I can never get an interview, I always get rejected. And it makes me wonder what I did wrong.
I obviously need a job to move, but I’m wondering if the job market in the bay is horrible everywhere? I mostly would want to live in the Castro Valley / San Leandro area, or the Walnut Creek / Concord area, or maybe even San Rafael or Novato.
This would be easy if it was just me, but I would be relocating my wife and son as well. Does anyone have a good ideas?

Events, Activities & Sports Any Brighton fans?
Became a fan after that Arsenal game and went deep into learning simply everything. Was wondering if there were any fellow seagulls in the Bay.

Food, Shopping & Services Looking for an old school bubble tea shop, opened for at least 20 years.
I know this is a weird ask. But I’m feeling really nostalgic. I want an old school bubble tea joint that is in a dingy old shopping complex that been opened for at least 20+ years. Even better if it uses powder in its drink rather than fresh fruit. The kind that you would go to in high school, and give you nostalgic vibes as it played music like F4. Please give me your recommendations. I don’t want something fancy like mollytea, ume, bobaguys, etc.
Edit: loving all the suggestions! But loving some of the stories about the suggestions more. If you give a suggestion, can you also add a memory of your visit there too? For me, this whole thing started because I was visiting Vancouver last week and during the time there visited a place where I used to go to all the time. The owners were still there and the drinks exactly as I remembered. I wanted something to remind me of that feeling here.

Traffic, Trains & Transit BART delay in Hayward. Not sure what happened.
Anyone knows what's going on at BART Hayward? The green line to Daly City has been stopped for about 15 minutes now and there is apparently a "situation". Heard a lot of sirens.

Food, Shopping & Services Treatment for recurring calf muscle spasms in the Bay Area?
I've been dealing with bad muscle spasms in my calves, mostly at night time and in the morning when I just wake up. I've been drinking more water and did light stretching before bed, but it still happens sometimes anyway. Is there any good treatments I can try around the area? or maybe I need to take additional vitamins?

Work & Housing Raising a family in SF or Berkeley?
I currently live in the South Beach neighborhood of San Francisco with my dog and my husband. I work in the area, love the parks and I’m used to the gym, dentist and everything I have here. This summer, we just had a baby and are now deciding where to raise her.
Should we continue to live in San Francisco to avoid a commute and keep everything we love? The reason we’re doubting this is that half the city sends their kids to private school once they hit middle or high school and we really prefer public schools.
The other option would be we move to Berkeley for their schools, but then we’d be leaving everything we know behind. Anyone have experience in either or both places that can help us make a decision? Or maybe things we should consider that we haven’t yet?

Work & Housing HELP!!!! ISO SLP Medical Practicum Placement
Hi!!! I am a local licensed childcare provider who is also in speech pathology grad school at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, remote. I am currently struggling to find a medical placement to satisfy my clinical requirements for graduation. If anyone is working in a medical setting, acute care, home health… anything adult, medical related, and they are willing to take on a grad student for at least 50 hours, I would be forever grateful! I can begin placements as early as May 2027. I am located in Campbell, California. and I'm hoping to find a placement within 30 minutes or so. Drive time.

Food, Shopping & Services Are there washing machine and dryer deep cleaning services? Please help!
Hello! I recently moved into this place and it looks like not a single one of the appliances has been maintained over 7 years over the course of this lease and revolving tenants. I’ve been getting scrud nonstop on clothing and I feel so disgusted. Does anyone know of any washing machine deep cleaning services where someone knowledgeable enough is able to take apart a machine and clean it? I’ve been using tablets and stuff and the brown flakes seem non stop. My realty agency told me to just use Affresh tablets 😭😭 but I don’t know if that’s enough. To even give context into how gross this place is-I went viral for the state of the hvac filter which also hasn’t been changed in 7 years a few days ago
I feel so gross imagining it’s dirt and oils from past tenants please help!
