Hi All,
I’ve been referred to an ENT at Barnsley Hospital and I’m wondering if anyone’s had any experience with him?
Context - I’ve been back and forth a few times for several different issues, I’ve only really found one consultant to be absolutely lovely straight off the bat when I got an urgent referral about a suspect mole on my finger.
Main issue is I’ve been back and forth to cardiology outpatients. I’m not complaining about the cardiologists general manner here, no one made me feel intimidated, but more the handling of the whole situation. Ultimately one of them said to me ‘there’s nothing pathologically wrong with your heart so there’s nothing I can do.’ whilst being passed backwards and forward between cardiology and elderly medicine (I’m 32f btw) for my orthotic hypotension diagnosis. Both the outpatient cardiologist and elderly medicine team outright refused me to try any medication and insisted on management alone (salt and water..) it wasn’t until I went to their PALS service to ask for a second opinion and eventually got seen by Dr Robson who was also excellent.
Now I’m trying to get to the bottom of why I am like I am and I’ve finally started to address my RCPD (no burp syndrome) as I’ve been doing my own research and maybe this could be contributing to everything. But I don’t have a formal diagnosis. It isn’t hard to diagnose, give me a can of Fanta and see how I don’t burp 🤷🏻♀️ but I’m worried they’re gona instantly send me for an endoscopy which I just cannot do. I’ve had countless rounds of therapy to get me where I am today with my emetophobia (fear of vomiting) which may be caused my not being able to burp. But who knows?
I see him on the 5th November and just wanted to know what he was like? I can’t find much about him on the internet and just says he has a patient led approach, but so did the others and they didn’t feel very patient led. I just wana know if the guy is nice or whether I need to go into the appointment a bit on guard.

Hi,
Barnsley rock band Class Zero are looking for a new bassist. The band currently play covers but are moving into writing their own material.
They are a gigging band, the last lineup has notched up 30 gigs and have played Barnsley Live 3 times.
Band members are all 15 years old, and are looking for somebody of similar age. They rehearse weekly in a studio in the town centre. Bassist must have their own equipment. Parental involvement is encouraged (as far as 15 year olds will allow - diary synchronisation, getting gigs, free roadie services ...)

They have a Facebook page:

Please get in contact via the fb page if you' or your child is interested

Would be pretty awesome to chat with more fellow horror fans. And maybe make more friends who are into horror. I love horror stuff whether it's movie or games. I just want more people to talk to about these things :)

I live in Penistone and need to travel down to London regularly soon.
Looking at Wakefield and Sheffield but wondered if anyone from round Barnsley drives a bit further to any other stations for favourable prices, travel convenience and so on?
Seen some suggestions for Retford on the Sheff forum but it’s a bit of a treck from here.
Thanks!

I'm working with the Work Foundation at Lancaster University, a research organisation, and we are researching the challenges facing young people trying to get into work in Barnsley and South Yorkshire.
We're currently speaking to major national TV news outlet, who would like to hear from a young person aged 18–24 in these areas who is currently out of work and not in education or training.
They're interested in hearing about your experience of looking for work – for example, how long you've been searching, the jobs you've applied for and the barriers you've faced.
This would initially just be an informal conversation so you can find out more before deciding whether you'd be comfortable taking part in any interview. Filming will take place on Wednesday 7 October near or at your home.
If this sounds like you, please send me a private message or email me at info@theworkfoundation.com. I'm happy to answer any questions and provide some more information.
Thanks for considering and have a good evening,
Jon
PS. Thanks to mods in advance for approving.

Hi, we’re four friends and we’ve put together Barnsley’s restaurant scene in an app called Vota.
The idea is pretty simple: you’re shown two restaurants and choose where you’d rather eat. For example, The Secret Italian or Favela Brazilian Grill? All the votes then create a ranking that hopefully gives a better picture of where people in Barnsley actually like to eat.
We’ve tried to include every restaurant in Barnsley and clean up duplicate or outdated listings, but locals will always spot things we’ve missed.
iPhone:
https://apps.apple.com/app/vota/id6744969212
Android:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.vota.app
Full transparency: we’re not from Barnsley and live in Gothenburg. There are four of us building this independently. We don’t collect or sell personal data, there are no ads in the app, and we don’t use AI-generated content to describe restaurants.
Any honest feedback is welcome, especially if restaurants are missing or something is listed incorrectly.
