Oddly Specific 🎯 Witnesses Needed for Accident on Vine and West Broadway last night.

Hello, my fiancΓ© was in a car accident last night around 7:00pm. The accident occurred at the intersection of Vine and West Broadway. He was in his car and was T-boned by another car while going through a green light. We are now dealing with a totalled vehicle and medical issues.

Due to the nature of the accident, we are seeking witnesses that may have seen what happened. Also, if anyone may have dash-cam or any security camera footage on that corner, that would also be helpful! Please let me know!

Medical πŸ’‰ Treatment centres for people with severe depression

Dealing with a family member who’s suicidal dealing with depression. We’re unable to keep full attention on them and are seriously concerned. Are there treatment centres we can take them to? Private, costs, not an object. We just want to be able to them the help they need immediately.

New to Vancouver πŸ‘‹ First day in Vancouver from China, any advise?

Heard from last post so I chose Richmond as my first temporary stop in Vancouver. Surely there are a lot of Chinese people but it is not that familiar feeling when I was in China. Most of the people there are Cantonese or HKnese actually, I am not used to the food there (I am from Northwestern Chinese so I prefer bread and beef/kebap more than such as bubble tea dim sum or grilled pork). Actually previously in Shanghai I enjoyed the diversity of food or life there, I don’t expect that diversity comparing from Shanghai but I am still searching for a more diversed place to leave in.

My company will start RTO soon so I have to choose a place where is convenient to DT. Any suggestions? Shall I just find a 1b1b or studio which costs more or find a private room with bathroom?

I also find that Chinese people sociality seems to be parallel with other communities so I am also asking where to find friends not only in Chinese communities? I love Japanese musics, gaming, photography and walking which is quite not Vancouver style. I am trying to integrate and maybe it is harder than I thought.

Food πŸ˜‹ Best chocolate chip cookies in Vancouver?

β€’ Upvotes

There’s someone I’m interested in who’s coming to visit me in Vancouver, and they LOVE cookies! I’m hoping to surprise them with cookies every day while they’re here.

Their favourite flavours are chocolate chip and white chocolate macadamia. When I asked them what makes a cookie special, they said, β€œI like when they’re firm (but not crunchy) around the edges and soft on the inside. They also can’t be too sweet or too bland. The chocolate chips have to complement the cookie dough, too.”

Does anyone have any recommendations for good cookie spots in Vancouver?

Advice πŸ™‹β€β™‚οΈπŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ Women of Vancouver, what’s your thoughts on men approaching you in public?

I was having a lunchroom conversation with 2 single female colleagues today and both of them said they are absolutely flattered and appreciate when guys approach them in public. Obviously it has to be done in a respectful and courteous manner, but they both said men are too scared of rejection these days. I always thought women absolutely HATED being approached in public and thought men were creeps that did public approaches. What’s the consensus here?

Oddly Specific 🎯 ATTENTION: VANCOUVER SUN COLLECTORS

Hello everyone,
I’m hoping to find a physical copy of the Vancouver Sun from April 25, 2026. It contains the obituary of a family member, and having an original copy would mean a lot to me.

If anyone collects old newspapers (specifically the Vancouver Sun) or knows someone who might have a copy, I’d be grateful for any leads. Thank you so much for your help!

Oddly Specific 🎯 How to enjoy Vancouver on a budget?

I just moved to Vancouver (and Canada) less than 3 months ago. I like it here, and this post isn’t for complaining about the cost of living.

The thing is, I’ve lived in several countries and will probably move to Europe in a couple of years. Meanwhile, I’m also at the age where I want to start thinking about retirement and saving, so I’m trying to figure out a way to enjoy Vancouver while I’m still here without spending too much money.

But if it’s great experience that you can only have in Vancouver, I’ll more than happy to pay for it. I also enjoy hobbies like going to musical theater and opera, so if you have any shows that you’d like to recommend, please let me know. The same goes with food.

Thank you!

Travel πŸš— ✈ How do you decide whether a monthly Compass Pass is worth it?

β€’ Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I'm a CS college student in Metro Vancouver, and since I'll be finishing my studies this December, I won't have access to my U-Pass anymore.

With my U-Pass ending, I'm trying to figure out whether a monthly Compass Pass or paying per trip would be cheaper, especially since my commute varies with work schedules, travel times, and fare zones.

I've also been thinking about building a small, free tool that could help calculate this based on someone's regular commute routes and the days they expect to travel each month.

But before getting into development, I'm curious how other people approach this:

Do you manually calculate your expected trips before deciding whether to buy a monthly pass?

Have you ever purchased a monthly pass and later realized that paying per trip would've been cheaper?

Do changing work schedules, travel times, or fare zones affect your decision?

Are there any existing tools or methods you use to make this calculation easier?

I'd love to hear how other commuters handle this, especially those with irregular schedules or those who've recently transitioned away from a U-Pass.

Thanks!

Events and Activities πŸ±β€πŸ Trivia nights for 20s folks

β€’ Upvotes

The rainy season is upon us, and as a busy grad student, I'd like to do some weekly indoor stuff like trivia nights in Vancouver. I found a list of them in Vancouver's BEST Trivia NightS , but was wondering if any of them are suitable if I just drop by myself, do they put me in with other teams?

Plus, if anyone in their 20s also wants to tag along, feel free to let me know here or via dms. I'll try to create a group of people that are into it (either on whatsapp or instagram)

Food πŸ˜‹ What's a decently priced date spot before going to a show at the Vogue?

Going to see Josh Johnson tonight at the vogue and we and want to go out for food/drinks beforehand. I don't really know the area and the restaurant search brings up a million choices that are hard to parse through.

Preference to somewhere that has good appetizers or tapas as I eat smaller portions. Affordable drinks is top of the list. I'd be fine with South Granville too, doesn't have to be right in the vicinity. Not too loud so we can hear each other talk.

Thank you!

Edit: would prefer to give our money to a locally owned place vs a franchise β™₯️

Advice πŸ™‹β€β™‚οΈπŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ Where to buy basic cable modem?

I’m not sure if I’m failing at looking or if modems aren’t really for sale? I checked canada computers and they only have one cable modem but it’s sold out online and 0 in Vancouver stores… checked staples and Best Buy with no luck… where do you buy a basic cable modem for lightspeed internet? a friend gave me one 10 years ago and I figured the technology has changed so much it would be good to update, having issues for a few years and finally getting around to it :)

Medical πŸ’‰ Septorhinoplasty recommendations

does anyone have any recommendations for a good surgeon for septorhinoplasty? I broke my nose years ago and am looking to get a septorhinoplasty, Ive booked consults with Dr Denton, Dr Buonassi, Dr Valenzuela. Im wondering if anyone has experience with any of these surgeons, from what I've heard online theres good reviews for all of them, however it seems that sometimes these surgeons pay for reviews. Right now im leaning towards Dr Buonassi due to his many years of experience. My nose is crooked and has a hump, im mainly looking to make it straight and reduce the hump a bit.
