Advice πŸ™‹β€β™‚οΈπŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ Gonna be without a place to stay from 9pm - 3pm, where to go?

I booked a room for the Cambie Hostel on the 29th, I arrive late and they won’t check me in late ): they say my check in time is 3pm so I’m at a bit of a loss as what to do until then. Are there other hostels that would check me in late? I’m thinking I’ll arrive somewhere between 9-10pm. And if not, is there any 24 hour food places I can go to in order to just have some food/somewhere to sit inside? Let me know thank uuuuu

Edit: I’m dumb as fuck, I accidentally selected 9-10am lmaooo I hate my life thank you everyone for the suggestions tho!!! I rlly appreciate it <3

ive been a registered nurse for about 5 years now. i still have a line of credit i have to pay off which is bothersome but ill get to it.

the cost of living in Vancouver is really messing with my psyche and i find that i have unnecessary anxiety about it. am i the only one experiencing this? any nurses going through this also?

Oddly Specific 🎯 Vancouver: Is your worksite missing some big rolls of copper wire today?

β€’ Upvotes

I have pics of the wire and the metal strippers if you’d like them. Cops let them claim the obvious stolen metal as their own.

Oddly Specific 🎯 Sex shop recommendations

For context, my partner and I have chosen to break the ice sexually by spending around $100 at any sex shop and then present our interests to one another and our friend group. Because of this plan, my friend and I are visiting Vancouver today, since I expect more options here than in my hometown. I would like to know which locations everyone recommends for us to explore.

** Please note that this post is not meant to be a thirst trap or anything of that nature. I genuinely want answers to my questions only lol

Food πŸ˜‹ Spongiest Sourdough in Vancouver? (2026)

I know there are probably a million posts asking about the best sourdough in Vancouver, but I have some pretty specific criteria! I’m looking for sourdough with:

- A super spongy, moist interior. This is my biggest priority!

- A fragrant, flavourful crust. Not sure how else to describe it, but I want that delicious, almost nutty, toasted bread aroma and flavour from the crust.

- Prefer less sourness, but doesn’t really matter.

I live close to Livia which I know is a popular mention. While I do like their’s chewy moist interior, I find the crust a little lacking in fragrance and flavour.

Nelson the Seagull is my favourite so far. The interior is slightly less spongy than Livia’s, but I find the crust much tastier.

Any recommendations? Thanks in advance!

Oddly Specific 🎯 Extremely well-done costumes around Trinity, surrounding area last night?

β€’ Upvotes

Hi there,

new to the neighbourhood. Did anyone go for a walk after dark/later in the night and notice large numbers of people walking around the neighbour, in extremely well crafted costumes/illusions? I enjoyed it and some costumes/streets scared the crap out of me.

Others I have talked to who have lived in the area longer are telling me they have never heard or see anything like it before Halloween.

Anyone else...?

Events and Activities πŸ±β€πŸ Places to visit outside the city

I've been in the city since july and have bravely explored the city alone on the weekends. By now, I feel like I've visited every main city spots in Vancouver, Burnaby and New West.

Where would you recommend for someone to go solo? Where in Metro Vancouver is a must-visit? I don't drive and depend 100% on public transportation, so places too far are a little complicated for me. A day trip to Nanaimo or Victoria is worth the transport time? Do you recomend any hidden gem in Vancouver?

Oddly Specific 🎯 Toyota/Lexus mechanic?

Looking for a reasonably priced Toyota mechanic to solve an oil leak and some other problems with my engine. We realized Destination Toyota goofed up when they fixed it last but it's been too long so now we cannot complain.

Also they were expensive.

Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Hey everyone, I am looking for a specific vodka from Poland called Ε»ubrΓ³wka/Zubrowka which is infused with bison grass but it seems to be out of stock everywhere I look.
So far I have checked in store at The Gull and Edgemont liquor store.

Fashion and Beauty πŸ‘— Hair stylist specializing in men's long hair?

My experience with "styling" my hair is getting split ends cut off once every 2-4 years. I've recently decided to start dating, and I'm looking to clean up the look a bit while still ideally keeping some/most of that part of my identity.

Does anyone with experience in the matter have a stylist or salon they'd recommend?

Willing to travel anywhere in the Lower Mainland or Fraser Valley.

Advice πŸ™‹β€β™‚οΈπŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ Where do people in their 30s go?

I’m newly single after being in a relationship for nearly a decade and I want to meet new people and feel alive again. I’ve outgrown clubs and bars. Where do all the folks in their 30s go to meet people?

My hobbies include Lagree, going to the gym, cooking, gardening, and I’m just getting into running. I tend to do all these on my own and don’t really belong to a community so I find it difficult to meet people.

Any advice?

Advice πŸ™‹β€β™‚οΈπŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ Need recommendations on buying a car

β€’ Upvotes

Hi All,

I've been in the lower mainland for almost 2 years and mainly use transit to get around, or rent from enterprise, modo or similar if needed. I wanted to get a car something reliable and fun to drive. I started looking at the new Civic but the insurance for me is very high ~480/month (no accident history, only 1 year in BC with license and 6 years outside BC, never owned a car). That seems a lot to me (not sure if that is normal here). Total was easily going around 1000 for insurance and car payments. Then I was thinking to get something around 20k probably 2020 or newer, insurance will probably be lower here. I can drive a manual as well so open to those options as well. Looking at Hondas, the price is around my range but I'll have to go around 2018, I think that's a bit high for an almost 9 year old car. I can see some Mazdas that fulfill my mileage and model year requirement.

Just wanted to ask here for recommendations, is it a good idea to spend 20k on Mazda around 2020 or maybe newer, or a Honda that 2017-18?

Anything will be really helpful.

Usage: Mainly Road trips and daily driving, rear leg room not a deal breaker. Should be good on gas and should be reliable.

MAIN question: Are my expectations even realistic??

Food πŸ˜‹ Best lumpia in Vancouver?

I want to pick up a tray for a work potluck with non-Filipino coworkers, so ideally I show them the best we have to offer 😁 I see that there are at least a few options around the city. Also I know many of you may say lola or mom makes the best lumpias but I don’t have any family here lol. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!!

Oddly Specific 🎯 Do you drink tap water?

As a Canadian I’ve always just drunk from the tap my entire life β€” including the hose.

I am meeting more and more people lately that many don’t do this.

They either use a carbon filter first, bottled water, etc.

How do you get your water? How much do you drink a day?

Medical πŸ’‰ Runner-Friendly Podiatrists?

β€’ Upvotes

Looking for a podiatrist who won't just tell me to stop running πŸ˜…

I like long-distance running, but have been struggling with plantar fasciitis this year. I've done lots of physio, RMT, shockwave therapy, dry needling, I stretch, foam roll, small ball rolling, do yoga.

But I also have a recurring corn on the ball of my right foot that I'm starting to worry might be where a bone spur is.

Advice πŸ™‹β€β™‚οΈπŸ™‹β€β™€οΈ Rewiring European light fixture - recommendations

I have this beautiful mid-century chandelier type light fixture that I bought while living in Sweden and I would like it rewired to use here in Canada.

I can sort out the logistics of adding a long wire with it because it will have to hang from the ceiling later but looking for recommendations on who can do this!

I did email one place a couple weeks ago, but have not heard anything back (rewire pro)
