Iโm newly single after being in a relationship for nearly a decade and I want to meet new people and feel alive again. Iโve outgrown clubs and bars. Where do all the folks in their 30s go to meet people?
My hobbies include Lagree, going to the gym, cooking, gardening, and Iโm just getting into running. I tend to do all these on my own and donโt really belong to a community so I find it difficult to meet people.
Any advice?

As a Canadian Iโve always just drunk from the tap my entire life โ including the hose.
I am meeting more and more people lately that many donโt do this.
They either use a carbon filter first, bottled water, etc.
How do you get your water? How much do you drink a day?

Seems like the only only one that isn't in the East End is the Moose. What gives? You guys don't like the dark?

Hi iโm not sure if this is the right subreddit to post in but this is the one iโve been lurking in before my move here haha!
so Iโm coming from far away for a 6 month work contract here, I signed a sublease a few weeks ago after 3 months of non-stop searching, ghostings and AI listingsโฆ.
But when I finally landed in Vancouver, after inspecting the place after the previous tenant left,
The place is filthy. It's dirty, dusty, hoarding hidden behind big furniture, broken heater casings? To top it all off black mold in the bathroom poorly hidden with tape and possibly some next to the windowsโฆ..
Iโm not from here and with my contract starting and multiple freelance gigs I will be busy full time
And I have a very tight budget and honestly donโt have the option and flexibility to move around much๐ฅฒ
I'm not sure the guy is mature enough to handle this as he thought he did a great job โcleaning up the placeโ to greet me. If thatโs his definition of a deep clean, I'm not sure how he lives every dayโฆ. and heโs pretty close with the landlord so I'm not sure if this is a losing battle.
Anyways, I'd just like some advice on what I can do to make this situation more livable without risking ending up on the streetโฆ..
Thank you,
( new to reddit tried to post pictures to go with the post but couldnโt figure out how to )

I went to Bruno Mars last Wednesday and had such a good time that Iโm now chasing that feeling again. The energy, the live band and the crowd singing along were all amazing.
Iโd love to catch something similar in Vancouver over the next few months. Let me know your thoughts.

I donโt think I give off inviting vibes at all in public and yet I get approached atleast once a week by a man. It genuinely annoys me and creeps me out. Last week I was walking home by myself at 11pm from a concert and a man followed me around the corner to hit on me. Today I had headphones on and a man stopped me to ask me for a coffee. Is this normal in a bigger city? Can any women give me some advice for feeling more safe when I am walking alone or tips to not get approached .

My daughter is in her first year at UBC and feeling very homesick and has yet to really connect with a good group of friends. Sheโs far from home and I hate not being able to help her out. That said, I wondered if anyone knows of any cool things happening on or close to campus for students away from home and struggling to connect socially. I know there are other quiet kids out there!! How do they find each other??

I'm staying in the city until the second week of january and am looking for seeing snow for the first time. Where should I go? What should I do? Honestly, I'm not really interested on spending a lot of money in ski gear or anything like that... just wanted to check the life list of seeing snow at least once in my life lol

Visiting Vancouver for the first time and planning to do a self-guided food crawl in Richmond. Should I plan to bring cash to Parker Place and Aberdeen Centre? I normally never have cash on me, but if I should come prepared because some vendors donโt accept credit cards, Iโd love to know before flying out.

Considering applying to rent here but my gut is unsure. They are cheap (red flag) but the studios seemed decent and love the area.

Iโve been wanting to try new activities and meet new people, but Iโm looking for activities that donโt revolve around drinking or going to bars/clubs/lounges.
What activities have you tried that youโd recommend? Thanks in advance.

I found a few threads from 4-5 years ago where it seemed people were DMing good recommendations! Instead of randomly DMing someone based on a 5 yr old comment, I'll give it another shot - does anyone have recommendations for a good realtor for a buyer? We are looking for probably a detached property somewhere in Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, or North Van.
From previous advice, it seems we should stay away from the bus ads and big names, and rely on word of mouth recommendations. However, we're the first in our social circle to buy, so I'm humbly coming to reddit in the hope of recommendations! Would also welcome any tips anyone has for FTHB.

Wife and I have some viewings coming up for 2 apartments in this building(tall newer building at Joyce Skytrain).
Location seems good and price is decent for the current market.
My main concern is it is owned by Westbank and seeing them in the news over the past few years does not fill me with confidence this is not a dud.
From laying off staff to being in serious amounts of debt makes and seeing people online compliants about them cutting corners in construction has me worried about the quality of the building itself, future repairs and lack of a contingency fund to help pay for any special levy down the road.
Anybody live here, worked on the building itself or have any experience with Westbank properties?
Cheers!

hi I dropped my black pouch and keys on the bus at around 6:08pm today on the bus around sasamat stop. It was on the 14 heading downtown and it has my student ID, work keys and other keys. Iโd really appreciate it if anyone knows about it to let me know. Iโve contacted the lost and found by submitting a ticket and will have to call the helpline in the morning so hopefully it works out. Just wanted to cover my grounds and post on here just in case :)
