I live in the US Southeast and camp mostly around the Appalachians. As more of a curiosity, would green tip 556 be enough against black bears in the area? While it's extremely unlikely to have a problem with one, we've seen them around over the years so chances are never zero. The two legged predators are the main concern, but I'm curious about defensive ammo choice here.

I remember the video of the guy who shot the bear in his home with his AR so it's definitely possible, so my question is mostly around green tip or if there's a better ammo option. At this time I'm not really looking to buy a different upper or rifle, just looking to use what I already have. AR is a 16".

Also for whatever it's worth I also have some 9mm Luger +P 147gr Flat Nose Black Cherry Coated Hard Cast for my ccw I usually bring along too.

If the average standard bun length hotdog with all the fixins weighs about 4oz then 42 of them would equal the 10.5lbs that my rifle currently weighs. Not sure if anyone needed to know this but now you do.

Just threw this lpvo with a top mount red dot on a new 11.5" build to make sure it runs and damned if I didn't start liking it better than my standard red dot/magnifier setup. 🤷🏻‍♂️

It's pretty good.

Now my question is should I do a more premium and more compact lpvo (primary arms plxc 1-8 with like a Steiner top mount)with a better top mount than this spare setup I run on random guns? Or stick with the red dot and magnifier?

Anyone put these to use. Just got one.

All 223/556 .. really need to get one that is a different round.

Due to its eye relief I can't use the ACOG unless I put the rear sight in front of the optic. I don't like how it looks but it's the only way I manage to aim comfortably.

Mostly factory, with added sights, optic, light and sling. I replaced the factory safety with a Radian Talon because the right-side lever was too long and dug into my trigger finger.
