Hey guys!
I'm a Dwarf Paladin main most of the time. I really like the fantasy and aesthetic of Dwarves, and I've always loved the Paladin fantasy of being a warrior of the Light: someone who protects the weak, stands up for others, and follows a code of honor.
However, for WoW Forever, my friends are going Horde, and I'm having a bit of a hard time getting into the Undead Paladin fantasy.
I've looked into the lore, played through the Undead starting quests on the beta, and I'm currently playing through the new Warcraft III campaign to get more familiar with the Forsaken and their story. I'm actually finding the concept pretty cool, but there are still a few things I'm struggling with. They might seem a bit silly, but they're things I keep thinking about, so I figured I'd ask for some opinions from other roleplayers.
Fishing and Cooking as an Undead Paladin
Yeah, this is one of my main issues. I find it a little strange to imagine an Undead character being a master chef at the same time.
As a Dwarf, it just makes sense to me. I'm an adventurer exploring the world, fishing and cooking to sustain myself along the way. Dwarves have that cozy tavern culture, enjoy their food and drink, and have a strong sense of exploration and adventure. Fishing and Cooking feel like natural extensions of that lifestyle, and they give me more ways to engage with the world and develop my character through roleplay.
With the Forsaken, though, I have a harder time connecting those same activities to the character's lifestyle. They don't need food in the same way the living do, and their culture seems much more pragmatic, especially given everything they've been through.
So how do you reconcile the idea of an adventurer who takes time to explore, fish, and cook with the Forsaken's pragmatism and lack of a need for food?
More importantly, how would you justify Fishing and Cooking for a Forsaken Paladin without making the character feel like a living human in an undead body?
I'd love to hear your thoughts and how you would approach this kind of character. Thanks!
