How did they do that? How do I make this blue effect in After Effects?
I looked for tutorials on YouTube but couldn't find any. I'm familiar with AE but new to this form of editing.

I applied for a job on YTjobs and they told me I needed to go to this discord server to do a trial edit. Does anyone have more info on this, because I'm assuming it's a scam?

Hi everyone. I create One Piece manga animations entirely on Android using Alight Motion, as I currently don't have access to a laptop for editing. My biggest bottleneck right now is manually isolating character parts (like hair, hands, etc.) in ibisPaint X, which is incredibly time-consuming. If anyone has tips, efficient mobile workflows, or general advice to speed up layer separation and improve my animations, I would really appreciate the guidance
r/VideoEditing • u/OkamiJ7 • 1d ago
I had this problem with several videos before I was able to notice and fix it, and it pains me to lose so many recorded memories. A large number of frames were lost during the bottleneck, but I wanted to know if there’s any way to improve the video—even just a little—or if those frames are gone forever, leaving nothing that can be done. Alternatively, has anyone else experienced this and found a trick to recover any part of it? I’ve already tried using the "Remux" feature in OBS Studio and attempting to stabilize the frame rate using HandBrake, but the result remained the same.
!martiniThanks in advance.

This is probably due to my non-existant experience in editing but I though it was worth a shot asking here.
(Tried posting on r/editors but they removed due to me not being a professsional)
I am not an editor. My girlfriend is a growing content creator and I'm helping her by making simple video cuts, and image here or there, some sound effects, just basic. (I don't take a dime)
I do get though very frustrated by things like having to listen and cut a long section only to realize that this entire section got scrapped and she started over again in the next video file lol
Just simple workflow things like that.
Does anyone in a similar spot have good tips for these situations? Things I can ask of her that are easy for both of us to implement that make my job easier.
I am brand new to this world so I don't really know where to look for.
I will gladly take any videos, articles that talk about these problems
Thanks a lot!

Hello Editors,
I am Marius, the creator of keibidrop.com and want to share with you the open source tool I have created that lets you instantly access video sets between your devices.
Here is a 2 minutes Video showcasing it is here (with DaVinci Resolve): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8b_6quIqx0
Where I got a keibidrop docker running 400 kms away with the files I instantly open it on my mac and scrub through it.
And even more fun, you can use it from the web.keibidrop.com (for example you connect the web to the desktop), and you play on-demand straight from your machine or hardware on the web. (In order to preview the data), or access instantly from the Desktop (DaVinci, Premiere, etc.) what the person drops from the web.
The fun part is that it is a generic filesystem, thus it works with any program. There are no accounts, nor email/ phone sign-ups, and minimizes the data sent over the network.
The source code is here: https://github.com/KeibiSoft/KeibiDrop

For the past 2 weeks I've been building SHDW, a desktop video editor (Windows + Mac) with Claude Code running
inside it.
You open the agent panel (Ctrl+K), type something like "make a 15s Apple-keynote-style sizzle for my app, dark, one
blue accent", and Claude:
- writes each scene as an HTML/GSAP file in your project
- puts the scenes on a real multi-track timeline with transitions, a grade, music and SFX
- renders frames through a local API and looks at them to check its own work, then fixes anything that's clipped
or broken
- exports MP4, ProRes with alpha, GIF and more
Everything stays editable afterwards. You can drag clips, change keyframes, or just say "make the intro punchier."
Things this sub might like:
- Your installed skills just work. I have design and motion skills installed, and the agent loads them before
designing (screenshot in the repo). Fonts, spacing and the "no AI slop" rules all came from the skill.
- It works with Codex too, if you want to compare.
- Each project gets a CLAUDE.md that teaches Claude the project format and the control API.
The editor itself was also built with Claude Code.
Free and open source: https://github.com/d4niel-fr/shdw-video-editor
You need FFmpeg plus the claude CLI logged in. The Mac build isn't notarized yet; the README has the one-line fix.
Happy to answer anything about how the frame-verification loop works.

Every time I download a free LUT online and throw it on CapCut or Premiere, the skin tones get ruined immediately. I just want a simple, clean cinematic look for my videos without having to become a full-time colorist. Where do you guys find good, clean LUTs that actually work well with mobile/iPhone footage? Or do you just make your own?

My boss is asking me to handle video editing of his contents. He provided a screenshot of the preset to use on his videos (1st pic). When I was suppose to try the preset on my end (2nd pic), I discovered that the sliders on my Retouch option are incomplete. Some of missing are:
Sparkly Skin slider
Dewrinkle slider
Facelift slider
*some of the Makeup filter options
*others that I haven't checked yet
I've tried:
-updating the software to the latest version
-uninstalling then reinstalling the software (relogged in the Pro Teams account in the process)
-checked my DNS server (just in case)
Can you guys help me?

Hey everyone! I run an aviation company that is virtual, and I’m looking to bring in a video editor for ongoing aviation clips that I film at a rate per hour of $20/hr.
I’m looking for someone with some experience in video editing, and is trainable. My style is upbeat, fast-paced, and with lots of visuals/sound effects.
I am currently very backed up with work, so I haven’t posted on social media in about 2 weeks and it’s stalling my business. I’m looking for someone to take over the short-form video editing that I’ll post on social media for my business.
I will be shooting about 30 videos per month, and I’d like to have them made in advance. If it’s a good fit for both of us, there will be consistent work.
What I’m looking for:
- Familiarity with CapCut and short-form content creation
- Understanding of social media clips that go viral with visual hooks
- Adding background music
- Videos to be made in advance with minimal delays. I’d like to have it where I’m “one month ahead” with videos in the backend
Shoot me a DM if interested. Thanks

I feel like this is where editing is headed. Upload your footage, let AI organize the clips and make a rough cut, then review and edit from anywhere, like on your phone. No need to carry a 4lb laptop with me all the time. any thoughts?

Bear with me guys. I’m beginning a video series on basic investing topics. It’ll include my dogs and will be very silly. I’ve used ChatGPT to create situational images and plan to intersperse those with footage of me, which I will of course record live. I also plan to generate a couple of short videos of them talking to cut in. Since the photos are already in the ChatGPT library I’m considering just adding plugins so I can do everything (generate the dog videos and create the entire video) in one place. Does this sound like a solid workflow? Other suggestions? Couple photos of the canine advisors for added entertainment value.

Hi! As you can see above, my top clip won't land properly aligned with the middle clip to align the audio together. Same thing if I try to move the middle and bottom clips. I've never had this happen before. All shot on the same framerate. I'm not moving to fast. Where the top clip moves to is the very next "acceptable" position.
And apparently, I can't free-range edit. It has to line up with the timeline's frames. But everything was shot at 4K 30 FPS. I don't understand why I am experiencing this problem.
Running on 2021 Macbook Pro 15 inch, 16 GB RAM. Final Cut Pro X version 12.3.
iPhone video: MPEG-4 AAC, Timed Metadata, HEVC Dimensions 3840 × 2160
Osmo Pocket 3 Timecode, MPEG-4 AAC, HEVC Dimensions 3840 × 2160
Edit to add more context, based on this incredibly helpful discussion: I think is the main issue here in terms of why the half-frame feels so off may be a speed-of-sound issue. When synced at the half-frame off, I'm sometimes getting an echo from the guests with both audio sources turned on, and sometimes I don't. This is why I've been trying to perfectly sync it to a 0-frame discrepancy.
I had four subjects: Myself as host, Man, Woman, and Young Woman. Man suggested using his own set of two DJI-style microphones on Woman and Young Woman. I agreed. Dumb idea that I should have known better, but we were in a time crush and I thought it would make the audio better in the end.
Initially, I was going to have the guests pass my second DJI mic around. But I got excited at the prospect of having everyone mic'd up. Man and myself were on my DJIs, synced to my Osmo. The transmitter for the two secondary mics, on the women, was plugged into the iPhone.
So, we were in a situation with 4 mics transmitting to two receiving sources, and the camera-to-mic transmission is not 1:1. (My mic attached to the Osmo facing the 3 guests, one guest mic synced to my Osmo , and two guest mics synced to my iPhone.) I did not even think about this being such a pain until I sat down to edit.
Rookie mistake. We were in a Rush and if I had to do over, I would just pass one mic. I've been doing this long enough to know better so I did a lot of head-to-wall banging today, lol. ALL OF THIS TO SAY that it's this echo that is the reason I care so much about that half-frame difference.

Title: Where do video editors get their meme clips, sound effects, and reaction videos? Is there a shared library?
Hey everyone!
I'm getting into reels editing, and I've been wondering how editors manage to find all the memes, funny clips, reaction videos, and sound effects they use in their videos, i don’t know if you know AlbinoVEVO style of editing, really unhinged memes and sound effects at random times.
So I wanted to ask:
Are there any websites or databases where you can easily search for and download these kinds of clips?
Do most editors build their own personal libraries over time?
Are there any free meme/SFX packs or shared Google Drive folders with collections already organized and ready to use?
And if anyone happens to have a collection of meme clips, reaction videos, or sound effects that they're willing and allowed to share, I'd really appreciate it!
I'm mainly looking to make short cooking content with funny edits, memes, and sound effects while commenting.
Thanks in advance for any recommendations or tips!

We've seen an uptick in people gatekeeping in this community, often being not decent humans.
One of the easiest things you can do is to report somebody's post or comment if it breaks one of our rules, especially around "Don't be a Jerk"
It's totally fine to disagree. Do so politely. Behave as an adult. Name calling, doxing etc is not okay here. Try not to be caustic. Life is hard enough.
Treat everyone "as if" they're having a bad day and you'll be fine. Disagree if you like - just don't be disagreeable. Remember there's a human being on the other side of the keyboard
Any time we get a number of flagged items, it automatically gets pulled, and a moderator manually removes it.
Thank you for your attention to this community service note.
We return you to your regularly scheduled program.

Hey everyone,
Where does everyone find their voiceovers? I’m referring to vlog/travel style videos where there is a voice talking at the beginning, saying something poetic or nostalgic sounding.. for example a soft voice saying “they always tell you that time moves fast. But you don’t really feel it.. not while you’re living in it” and then the music starts.
Editing a video of the home and village I’ve lived in for four years, and looking for a short audio to throw in at the beginning, just not sure how to find it!
Thanks in advance

I've been editing UGC Reels and DTC ads since many years. Sometimes I add the background music while editing, and other times I use trending audio directly from Instagram, TikTok, or Facebook.
Honestly, I haven't noticed a significant difference in engagement just because of where the music was added.
But copyright is another concern. On YouTube, I sometimes get copyright claims when music is embedded in the video. Instagram and Facebook usually haven't been an issue for me, although I've heard of claims appearing on Instagram much later, even years after posting.
So I'm wondering what works best in the long run:
- Should I avoid adding music during editing and use audio from each platform's library instead?
- Or is it better to add properly licensed background music during editing and upload the same video everywhere?
The downside of using platform audio is that sometimes the trending tracks don't fit the vibe of the video, and sometimes I simply can't find music that matches what I have in mind.
For me, background music is a huge part of a Reel's overall feel. The wrong track can completely change the mood.
For those of you editing UGC, DTC ads, or short form content, what's your workflow? Have you noticed any difference in engagement, and how do you handle copyright across platforms?
