Work Discussion Instructed to separate ballots from outgoing mail?

The only instruction I have gotten about handling ballots just came in the late afternoon on a scanner message. It said "please make sure we are not putting any local ballots in the outgoing mail. Please hand them to a supervisor or clerk to keep them separated from outgoing mail."

This seems very strange and potentially problematic. What do y'all think?

City Carrier Discussion Amazon delivering pkgs with usps barcode

I recently see that Amazon is delivering packages that only have usps barcodes on them and they are leaving them all over the apartment hallways in the apartments I deliver to. My question is, if I scan the package delivered and leave it at the customers door or in the customers box, will usps get paid for delivering the last mile? I have not done this. Just asking before taking any action. A few customers think it’s me misdelivering.

Work Discussion How would you handle being threatened at work by your steward for following instructions?

I was asked to double case, even though I was removed from the overtime list. So I just followed instructions. All I kept hearing was smart sarcastic remarks, which is nothing new from him talking about he’s gonna file grievances Etc. Yet he never follows through when you need him to follow grievance. Anyway, I said something about I didn’t know what time I got done yesterday and I started getting caught a pussy bitch Etc so I said it back and then I was threatened. He would beat my ass and I told him to do it and he says oh I’ll do it off the clock. I said that that’s what I thought. I feel I am working in a hostile environment and I’m always singled out. Anytime I ask work related question through text message They all get in their group chat and gossip about me. God forbid I ask something about my time card. The whole office needs to know.

Work Discussion Steward not stewarding

If me and my squidward isn’t seeing eye to eye, and they also turn my concerns (PSE) into grievances for them (Career Clerks), while also not addressing/correcting what was brought to them, what’s my next best route of representation if needed?. And also handling this matter itself? They never filed grievances on my behalf, or spoke up for me in times when I was CLEARLY wronged. It’s always thrown back on me in some way.

they literally have a questionable disliking/vendetta against me for some reason that I can’t pinpoint. Former management and them were best friends before they (manager) got transferred out.

Mail Handler Discussion Mail Handler Assistant vs Amazon

I got an offer for a Mail Handler Assistant. I've been working at Amazon for the past few years and wondering how the two jobs compare? Amazon can be a pain the ass at times but overall its the easiest job I've ever had. Pay, time off and benefits are decent. How does the MHA job compare? Is it a typical warehouse job?

Work Discussion Not much to be happy about in this career, but let's list what makes us happy as carriers.

  1. When large packages fit in curbside boxes 1a. When a customer has a large package, or multiple packages and they're already half way to your truck to grab them from you.

  2. Customers not being able to sign, due to religious reasons so you just fill out a 49 and drive away.

  3. When a pick up is either at the curbside, or in a curbside box.

  4. When an entire CBU doesn't have mail so you can just keep driving.

4a. Parcel lockers!

  1. The birth of my kid.

  2. I'm closer to retirement then when I was hired.

  3. When the front door of a house is 1 foot over the limit so you can leave them a 49 for any packages that don't fit in the box.

  4. When a customer picks up their hold mail, instead of having us drop it off.

  5. December.

  6. The freedom of being in an LLV.

Edit: added 1a forgot how happy that makes me.

Work Discussion USPS with a Bachelor's degree?

I'm in my early thirties and am about to begin as a PSE clerk at a plant, Tour 3. However, before this I tried for a little over eight years to build a career for myself as a freelance video editor editing movie trailers -- I did manage to work for some clients. I applied to numerous entry-level government jobs in my city, -- San Diego, -- but ultimately couldn't land any. I have a Bachelor's of Science in film studies.

My current plan is to work as a PSE clerk and work on directing my own films in my spare time from feature-length screenplays that I've written years ago. For the sake of keeping me creatively fulfilled, if nothing else.

For those of you currently working at USPS with Bachelor's degrees, do you enjoy your life overall? Are you mostly content with the work you do, or do you feel regretful or frustrated, like you're losing out on something better of yourself?

I'm in a vote by mail state and my station has a ballot dropbox on site. Am I allowed to put outgoing ballots in the ballot box? ( Especially a few days before election day ). I want to ensure everyone's vote counts

An office I saw said the base pay for PM said 71k, is this what they start at or do they go into this office at a rate depending on the various raises they get from the office performance?

Work Discussion Left being a cca for ptf

I obviously know being a ptf is way better than being a cca, anyways. I’m 20 and I started this job when I was 19 last year so I’ve been working at the post office for a year and 1 month. When I came back from my 5 day break I was looking to transfer to my hometown which is a ptf installation because I was still like 6th in line to convert to regular but we just had route adjustments happen and routes got cut and 4 cca’s just converted so there were 10+ uar’s so I know it was gonna be awhile until I was able to convert or I had to wait the full 2 years. The office I was at was ghetto, the people and the city I was in and it was depressing and I felt trapped because I was tried applying to a different office in the beginning of the year but my post master denied it because they wanted to keep me there. Anyways something happened and my post master was out and I saw my hometown was hiring and I applied and I was just expecting disappointment because I didn’t think I was gonna get accepted but I did and I was so happy, it felt surreal. I start at my new office monday and I’m happy but also nervous. Did I make the right choice to start over even though I never had any seniority to begin with? I also which I would’ve known sooner that if I stayed at my current office and converted as regular there and I tried to transfer to my hometown then I would have to start over as a ptf since that’s a ptf office/installation and not a cca office/installation. Is the saying true “better late than never”?

Work Discussion PTF Clerk to Carrier?

I want more hours, less stress, and carriers seem to have a chill time and all the hours I could want. I'm worried about not being able to transfer positions easy, if at all. I'm only 6 months into USPS right now, but can I switch to PTF RCA, or do I have to start non-careerl or anything? I don't have a right hand drive vehicle so if I bounce around, I may be out of luck regardless.

I don't understand the process for trying to go to another position or post office with USPS. Going to dozens of different post offices, each one has different opinions/processes so it's difficult to come to a decision.

Have any of you been clerks and switched? I kind of don't want the class to be for nothing because it was an awful experience I don't wish upon anyone.

Work Discussion Odd scenario

I work as a PSE at an RMPO, a little while ago I was subject to an unannounced inspection by my supervisor and a random clerk. First one at my RMPO in over 4+ years(asked previous employees they were never inspected in their entire 2 year tenure and I’ve been here 2+). My supervisor and another clerk came to my office, my supervisor stood in the corner and flipped through a binder, while this random clerk from my primary office went through my entire desk, bathroom, random drawers, and nit picked my entire office. I’m talking random stuff like “your trash can is in the wrong place”, “your 3849s don’t go here”, “why do you keep sticky notes here?”. Mind you neither this clerk nor supervisor have worked a singular hour in this RMPO ever.

My main question is, why is another clerk at my office doing this inspection instead of my supervisor or PM? Is this how these inspections are supposed to be done? Both my union steward and PM have completely ignored me when I asked them the same question, so I’m coming here to ask.

City Carrier Discussion Transfered to a new city

I recently just transfered to a new facility and it's my first day and within the first hour I have stepped in dog shit 4 times while being on the sidewalk. It probably is just the route but I am hating these dog owners

Rural Carrier Discussion Kicked me off my route and told me to go to another office.

Hey all RCA of about 3 years here. Today I reported in at 7:30 for a route I was scheduled to run at my home office. I had just finished casing and was about to pull down when 204b told me I need to go a city(shitshow) 48 miles away. I know they can ask me to go if within 50 miles but my main gripe is that my fellow RCA's will now have to split my route and the fact that I was ALREADY scheduled and unavailable. It boggles my mind that they're getting away with this even after a grievance. I was just wondering if anyone has had to deal with this BS and how to get them to cut it out.

Thanks all.
