Take my word, this is not a smoky picture. It’s the dust blowing upward from the side door. As I drive on the shoulder, road dust is flowing up like smoke. It floats all over inside and gets sucked out my open window. It coats all the packages, my watch and scanner. I wish I could show a video here

If my sup or any big wig related to my office is on reddit: go f yourself.
For the decent folk:
So my postmaster is retiring soon, and they (I ain’t telling lmao) and the little underlings beneath them have been absolute hell in our office. On any given day, it’s constant shouting for us to work faster, be out of the office before a certain time, and God help us if they catch us talking to each other. I’ve been here for 10 years, and I swear it just gets worse and worse.
I’ve taken my fair share of verbal abuse from my sups, but today was just the worst kind. I do what I do every morning: start casing my mail and make quick rounds to say good morning to my friends (but only on the rural side because we can’t even look at the city carriers lest we hear the banshee screech). For some reason, this morning, someone must’ve pissed in my sup’s cereal, because they (also ain’t telling) were up my azz from the moment I clocked in. Sometimes I case my DPS (usually on advo day), but mostly I pull my flats down into my DPS and run out. I’ve been great about getting out before the “deadline” and coming back right at or a little before my evaluation time.
Today, apparently I talked a little too much, because I was brought into my postmaster’s office with the underling in tow. I was scolded for talking to “everyone” and told, verbatim, that “no one wants to talk to you. They don’t care about what you have to say”. I was also told that “the new postmaster isn’t going to put up with this mess”, which is crazy because us carriers think we do a damn good job. Now, we don’t get anything for morale, get yelled at for taking “too long” to perform our end of tour duties (have you seen that list?!), and just get scolded in general. I’ve worked there for 10 years, and I can’t remember a single time that I’ve been praised. It just sucks.
But the way I was spoken to today kinda messed me up. I was on the verge of tears for the rest of the time I was in the office, and I know I definitely made mistakes on the street that I’m gonna have to fix tomorrow. The people that run the place make me want to just hand in my resignation and walk away from it all. There’s no morale in our office anymore. I’m really starting to just not care about my job anymore. I’m so glad that I don’t depend on my job for a morale boost because it provides me with nothing. The only thing I look forward to is payday. It’s horrible. I used to love my job, but it’s getting ridiculous. I’m fed up.
I don’t even know what I want from this post. I’m just gonna leave it up, make a drink or 3, and go to bed. Thanks for reading, y’all

I worked at Target for a few months before becoming a CCA. Target made it a point to NEVER call people “customers,” but rather “guests,” and honestly it made sense.
A customer came up to me on my route and had some questions that I was happy to try to answer, but I had to call a supervisor to clarify. It felt odd having that person standing next to me while I said “I have a customer with me that has a question…”
I suppose “resident” works, but not really if that person is receiving mail at a business? Wanted to hear if you guys have any thoughts about this (not that this will ever change anything lol)

Today I heard my mailman loudly laughing and telling my next door neighbor “She gets 30 packages a week!” while delivering my package to my doorstep. I’m really embarrassed that he was laughing at me to my neighbor. Was he judging me?

Besides Canada which has equivalent international prices (at least to USA) we have the cheapest international letter of developed countries. Since IRCs aren't accepted anymore (or won't be past 12/31 can't remember), we just put a couple USD for international replies to our card we send confirming contacts with international hams. The standard is $3USD. Just thought I'd share since IRCs aren't accepted but we keep international letters going. I'm probably the biggest customer of $1.79 international stamps at my smaller to medium post office. Also, I get international letters weeks before I get a ground advantage package from the lower 48 to Alaska. It's taking 5 weeks for most GA packages but I'm getting letters w/n a week from Europe or Asia.
I just got fired lol, looking to sell the RHD I bought or else I'll have to sell my actual car.
I bought it from Japan Direct Motors in South Carolina, it starts, runs, and drives well. Honda CRV, 1997, 72k miles. Comes with RCA magnets, expanded cig charger, and rooftop amber+white light. Great tires. Looking to get 9k from it, I bought it for $12,500. Please DM me.
If this post breaks the rules sorry but I'm kind of desperate. I was not aware I would be getting let go a week and a half into the job or I wouldn't have bought a vehicle to be an RCA!

If a clerk doesn’t feel safe serving a customer, can they refuse service?
Obviously there is a lot to this story but that’s the bottom line. I refused to serve him and the postmaster threatened to “send me home, due to refusal to work, with understanding my leaving as my resignation”
So I get a lot of APWU and USPS stuff in the mail so my mail carrier has to know I'm a USPS employee.
A lot of people in my neighborhood Facebook group complain that they will often have a package marked delivered but it won't actually arrive until the next day. I have never had this happen.
Am I getting special treatment?
And what is even up with that? How are they marking stuff delivered if it's not? Are they trying to fake metrics so it doesn't look like they have a lot of late packages?

I'm a window clerk and the customer is paranoid delusional... I've had three encounters with this customer. One week ago the customer said their last postcard got sent back to her for postage due, so I decided to sell her a forever stamp for $0.82 for her postcard, partially because her postcard was on the thick side, and I don't know how thick 0.016 inches is (max thickness for postcards). She came back today and waited in line to inform me I charged her $0.17 too much for her postcard. She then promptly left.

I've only been a regular for about a year and a half, so this is my first route adjustment. They told me I would have a consultation later. But right now all I have is paperwork that shows every swing on my route has been removed and assigned to other routes. So what will happen to me? Do I have to become a UAR again, until there is a new route available? If anyone knows, I'd really appreciate it.

at the time of my separation from usps I had a negative AL balance of -5.13, that’s the number that was on my final check. it took them 3 weeks to process me out of the system which they didn’t even process my resignation?? they processed it as a removal. besides the point, i received two blank pay stubs since my final check. since they did not process me out of the system until three weeks later it was saying LWOP in lite each day I was scheduled.
I’m assuming that has something to do with my “AL earned YTD” balance decreasing from 24 hours) the amount stated on my official last check) to now 20 hours and now I somehow have a negative AL balance of -9.13. I hadn’t used any AL or even worked since my last day which was before the pay period had concluded. sorry if this is confusing, but can someone please help me make sense of this?

I received a letter from the IRS mixed in with my mail addressed to a completely different person and address 40 minutes away from me. My mailbox doesn't have a flag, would it be okay for me to just drop it in a blue collection box? Should I leave a note on it or anything? Since it's from the IRS I just want to make sure I handle this correctly.

So. We have three newbies at my office. There's always something with newbies. It's part of the learning process. We correct and move on.
Thing is, you can't correct what you don't know is happening, yeah?
So one of our newbies comes in today, we're shooting the shit, getting our routes ready to go. And he says to us, "You know, I was doing the route the other day and I had a certified letter for this house. I go up, knock, leave the 3849, and go back out to put the rest of the mail in the mailbox. There was a 3849 already in there so I took a peek to see if it was from the same sender out of curiosity. Except, when I picked up the slip, uh, in the sender field was Josh's name" (not his real name for privacy reasons)
This other RCA has been putting his name in the "sent by" field... I suspect he also isn't knocking on the door for certifieds but that's another issue on its own.
We had a good laugh over it and now on Friday when he's back in we get to have a little chat about it, but like. My guy how are you putting your name as the sender I'm dead lmfao
What are some of y'all's "the newbie did a silly" stories?
I have a uniform allowance I need to spend. I am an AMT so I don’t need the shirts and pants. I already have the mid weight and heavy weight liner. Is the all weather parka worth it? I mean yes it is stupid expensive but is it good at all? Thanks!

I’m a USPS career city letter carrier, and I’ve been dealing with ongoing management problems for several months.
I have an active EEO complaint, and now I’ve had three Pre-Disciplinary Interviews (PDIs) in one month, including two on the same day.
How It Started
For several months, I felt singled out by management because of repeated monitoring, unwanted shoulder tapping, and what I believed was unfair treatment compared with other carriers.
I eventually filed an EEO complaint because I was concerned about discrimination, harassment, and possible retaliation.
First PDI — Vehicle Allegation and Emergency Placement
Management accused me of leaving my postal vehicle unlocked with a window open.
I disagree with that allegation. I maintain that I locked the doors and left the window cracked open slightly.
When I returned from delivering mail, the vehicle was no longer where I had parked it. I contacted management.
I was placed on Emergency Placement for two days and later participated in a PDI.
Second PDI — Returned Mail
On October 21, management questioned me about bringing mail back without submitting PS Form 3996 beforehand.
I honestly expected to finish my route but ran out of time. I completed PS Form 1571 as my union representative instructed.
Third PDI — Emergency Placement and Sick Leave
Also on October 21, management questioned me about my previous Emergency Placement and recent absences while I was hospitalized.
I had already provided my supervisor with doctor’s paperwork explaining my medical absence.
Another Issue on October 21
Both PDIs took approximately two hours of my workday.
I had a meeting at 4:30 PM and couldn’t work overtime, so I submitted PS Form 3996 requesting assistance.
I suggested giving one section of my route to a CCA while I completed another section.
My supervisor denied my request and told me that management decides which work gets reassigned.
We disagreed, and the discussion became heated.
My Concern
Three PDIs in one month feels excessive to me, especially with my pending EEO complaint.
I understand management can investigate legitimate workplace issues, but I’m concerned about whether I’m being treated fairly.
My Questions:
Has anyone else experienced three PDIs in one month?
Can management conduct two PDIs on the same day?
Can repeated PDIs potentially support an EEO retaliation complaint?
What should my union investigate regarding these incidents?
How should management account for two hours spent in PDIs when reviewing a carrier’s PS Form 3996?
I’m looking for constructive advice from experienced USPS carriers and union representatives.
Thanks for reading.

Music isn’t cutting it. I’d like to try podcasts or audiobooks, but I don’t know where to start. What apps are good? What are you listening to podcasts about? Needing some good ideas to cut the monotony because some days my own thoughts are just a lil lonely lol

Eta: I'm a ptf city carrier.
2nd eta: got off work and could dig through the contract. Page 12-44 has this "An employee must have at least one-year of service in their present installation prior to requesting reassignment to another installation". LiteBlue is hot trash for even allowing people with a start date less than a year ago to have access to eReassign.
I haven't met the 12-month lock-in (my start date was 11/1, so I'm damn close) for a transfer to a non-adjacent district, so I'm not too salty about getting rejected. But the email said I'm being rejected because I had only been with the PO for 8 months when I submitted the request. Does that mean all 70 other transfer requests I've submitted are automatically going to be ineligible even if they aren't considered until after I hit my year?
I followed up via email with the person from Workforce Planning, but I'm my experience they don't really reply- so hoping someone here can help clarify. Thanks, y'all.

I just received my postal uniform snow pants and the quality is absolutely terrible. Definitely not worth the 300+ dollars I had to spend on them. The brand is USA Line. I am contacting the uniform vendor to exchange them for a different brand. Is there one specific brand of postal snow pants that tend to be a better quality than the rest?
r/USPS • u/NachielAshmoon • 23h ago
With your paycheck changing every six months is it worth even working at the PO anymore? When I become regular a couple years ago my route dropped from a 46K to a 40H. As it grew it went to a 42J (grievance said it should have been a 44J which they still owe me in back pay since May). Now its a 39H which is lower then when I started the route and I have add 80 new houses onto the route. I would need to work 8.25-10hrs overtime every pay period to make up the lost income. So is it worth staying? I am actively looking but no jobs pay the same hourly rate so I am stuck in this abusive relationship of a job.
Edit: I do every scan, more then most carriers and all by the book, I don't pad my route with load times, nor taking every package to the door.
