I want to stop, but I can’t despite giving up mentally
I know how it sounds but it’s not what you think. You can never guess what it is until you read this.
So for years, I have been trying to enter a relationship, go on a date, or just have a connection with a woman more than being friends. Well that never worked, like not even being able to go out on a date (it’s pathetic, I know, at least I tell myself that). A lot of instances, it was my fault, I will be honest about that. But like you know the ones that we all say “it’s what it is” because we don’t want to just say that “Im not gonna be even considered an option, what’s the point”. But like at some point, you kinda do start to believe that.
I had a lot of reactions to experiences that I thought was too much and overreacting, but this summer, I come to find out Im actually neurodivergent (confirmed ADHD and suspected ASD but we’ll never know since there are barely any resources for Adults with Autism unless you have $5k just laying around), so my reactions weren’t overreactions, just how Im neurologically wired. Growing up in unstable household with all those chronic rejections for years and being undiagnosed, just lead to developing disorders and my dysphoria becoming really severe. Worst part is that deep down, I still want a genuine relationship despite giving up well idk logically/mentally whatever it is. It’s just too much and the physical pain like chest tightness and stomach pit that follows with these rejections are just too much and they genuinely put me in agony, but the again my dumb*** just goes for it again because the desire won’t go away. It’s like Im purposely putting myself through pain.
Im tired with this.
Any neurodivergent with similar conditions and/or experiences, can you drop some advice? I don’t know like if you were in my shoes and it worked out for you, how? If it didn’t work out for you but still you managed to silence the pain, also how? If you managed to get rid of this desire, please tell me how??? Idk, I guess this is my last desperate attempt to get some help lol.
P.S
I like to just to leave some notes here to tell you all that due to my condition, most of your advice will not only help, but actually make me trigger. The main thing is positive words which actually trigger me. I know you people have good intentions, but just letting you know that it will hurt (literally).
Common phrases people said to me are:
1) You will find someone eventually. They’ll come to you.
That doesn’t work for me, because I have to be positive and im anything but that, and I cant “just” stay positive. That’s like telling a depressed person to not be depressed.
2) You don’t need to find someone right now. Enjoy the single life while you can.
That’s the worst one so far. Reason being is that I actually tried. I went on hikes on my own, traveled on my own, ate at restaurants on my own, went to cinemas on my own, etc. You know what they all had in common? I was miserable because all my mind could think about which i have no control over it either was “I should have shared this with someone else” and that just triggered the worst episodes for me. So that’s actually like the worst backhanded words of affirmations out there for me.
Thanks I guess for anyone for reading my venting. I hope nobody experiences what I do and if you do and/or it’s even worse, Im really sorry to hear that. I would try to cheer you up, but that doesn’t help me, so I don’t know if it will help you either.
Have a nice night. Good luck to people who still have midterms and those who are done, hope it went well.

WHO TF TOOK MY AUDRINO KIT FROM THE LAB TODAY
I'm fucking frustrated like lowkey I need to use it for my fucking projects but some low life decides to ruin my future like what the actual fuck
And before anyone asks, I am almost certain it wasn't mistakenly put on the bookshelf because me and my groupmates checked the whole room three times. My other belongings were still there. Other people's Arduino kits were STILL ON FUCKING TABLES. YOU THINK YOU ARE TUFF HUH like bro respect to you for stealing it in broad daylight but like I have actual deadlines to meet, and now I am wasting my time here because the prof stated he doesn't really respond to emails and NO ONE FUCKING READS PIAZZA like why would a low life who commits robbery even confess
If you picked it up by accident, PLEASE RETURN IT. THE LAB DOESN'T HAVE MANY PEOPLE TO BEGIN WITH ANYWAY SO PLEASE DON'T MAKE THINGS HARDER. I KNOW YOU ARE FROM COGS 300 LAB SECTION L01 FROM 3-5PM SO DON'T PRETEND YOU'RE SLICK
Anyway, if anyone stayed behind in the COGS 300 lab today and saw anything, or if anyone has found an Arduino kit with a small capybara storage bag, please let me know. I will treat you to boba.

What the hell is wrong with Walter Gage North Towers Elevator 1.
For context, the elevator has been broken almost 20 times already, And I wish I was exaggerating but I'm not, this elevator has been broken so many times it's unreal and the other elevator feels sketchy as hell sometimes

Should I drop MATH 100?
So im lowk flunking math100 n w the midterm coming up im NOT confident at all. Im taking 5 courses both terms n if i drop math 100 this term I’d take it during summer session instead. Im in first yr sciences n im mainly just worried about how this will impact my 2nd year specialization as I wNt to major in neuroscience (top choice) i feel like if i take it n thug it out if i work rly hard ill be able to do decent but w/ balancing my other classes im scared itll cost me my mental health and gpa. However I am also pretty sure if i no life the next few months i could do pretty well overall. Is the W on my transcript going to impact anything at all? What will dropping math 100 n taking it in summer cost me? I also do plan on going to med school and I know evb says j focus on good GPA so ugh idk im j so stressed out abt MATH 100 rn.

dsci 100 mt expectations
the midterm is same day as bio 200 (wednesday) and i’m struggling to gauge how much time i should permit to this class. i do the readings every week and complete the worksheets and tutorials as needed. haven’t found the worksheets or material challenging at all but certain tutorial questions def get me thinking yk.
based on this, would u guys say it’s ok to just go thru the textbook and redo the worksheets? idk if i have time to redo tutorial assignments which are def the only somewhat hard / substantive things 😢

Course Question 0 information on POLI 101 midterm
I’m taking POLI 101 with Gerald Baier and there is nothing on canvas or the syllabus explaining what is on the midterm on Wednesday. I have no idea if it’s multiple choice/essay/mixed, and I also have no clue what we’re supposed to study from.
Do I need to remember every date mentioned in the readings for the textbook? I looked online and people say that reviewing the textbook is the best way to study, but there is so much information and dates and specific section numbers of the constitution mentioned that it feels unlikely that we’re supposed to remember them all.

Discussion why is psychology so hard?
why is it so hard to do well on psychology exams?
this is my second term taking psychology classes, and honestly, i’m starting to feel really disappointed in my grades.
i don’t think i’m particularly smart, but i know i’m not stupid either.
throughout my third year of university, i’ve consistently gotten b+, a-, and a grades in my art and commerce courses.
i’ve never scored below 70% on an exam, but ever since switching to psychology, i feel like my gpa has been taking a hit.
i just got my midterm 1 grade back for one of my psychology classes this term, and i was genuinely confident going into it because i thought i’d studied enough. so you can imagine how disappointed i was when i found out i scored below 60%.
now i’m starting to wonder if switching to psychology was the right decision, especially since i still hope to pursue a master’s degree in the future! 😭

UBC RA Preparation?
Hello! I was hoping to become an RA next year and heard that you had to do an interview where they ask how you would respond?
I was wondering if any RA's who did this process could reply with their case study and how they answered it as well as any tips when applying, or anything to note. I know the applications aren't up yet but I just wanted to be prepared.
Thank you for reading!
