Strong petrol like smell in Al Nahda 1?
I was just in my balcony and there’s this strong petroleum smell in the air. Anyone else who smells it? Or someone who knows the cause?

Hello everyone,
I'm an Indian B.Tech AIML student graduating in 2027. I want to build my career in the UAE, but I don't want a software development job. I'd prefer fieldwork in infrastructure, industrial operations, inspections, or similar technical areas.
My biggest concern is that most site engineering jobs require civil, mechanical, or electrical degrees. I don't know which roles I can realistically pursue with an AIML degree.
I'm a fresher without a driving licence. My target is AED 5,000–8,000 per month, although I'm open to realistic starting salaries.
For people working in the UAE: If you were in my position, which 2–3 specific job titles would you target, and what skills would you learn before graduating?
Your advice could genuinely help me avoid spending months preparing for the wrong career path. I'd especially appreciate advice from people who have hired freshers or moved to the UAE from India.
Thank you.

I was literally just walking near my office, minding my own business, when this uncle-type guy goes, “Assalamualaikum.” I was like, “Whattt?” 😭 Then he asks, “Malayali?” I was like, “No, whattt?” And he goes, “Oh, I thought you were Malayali.”
And No he didn't need any help I am KINDD and I definitely know he didn't need an address or anything.
Likeee, WHATTT? 🙄Idk, I don’t even look Malayali, nor am I Malayali, so what was the point of this whole interaction? I just hit him with my favourite line, “Mind your own business,” and walked awayyy.
WHAT THE HELL DID HE EVEN WANT? 😭 Why do I keep running into these types of people? I’m literally just trying to exist in peacee🥲.

I’m asking on behalf of someone whose employment in the UAE is being terminated. Their employer notified them late, so they will receive 1.5 months’ salary as compensation for the delayed notice. This is separate from their end-of-service benefits.
They have a personal loan with ADCB, with monthly installments automatically deducted on the 27th.
Will ADCB deduct only the regular monthly installment, deduct two installments, or potentially freeze the funds or demand full loan settlement due to the job termination?
Has anyone experienced a similar situation with ADCB? Any advice would be appreciated.

Hello! Just wondering if anyone can smell gasoline around Qasimia Mahatta Area?

Hi
I hear across many groups and I could even smell it outside my home , wondering what this is? I asked friends around and it seems like a leak.
Do you smell it too? Feels like the petrol station just evaded the city ?

I wanted to share my experience with Fixology. I engaged Fixology Technical Services for a substantial home renovation in Jumeirah Village Triangle, Dubai, and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience.
I paid over AED 180,000 for renovation works and consultancy/approval services, but was extremely dissatisfied with the quality of workmanship and overall delivery of the project.
Several items included in the agreed scope were not completed, and I had concerns about the standard of finishing and whether certain materials used matched the brands and specifications originally quoted.
Fixology subsequently refunded AED 20,000 for incomplete works. However, this did not address my concerns about the quality of the work that had already been carried out.
I also incurred an additional AED 10,222 in consultant, Nakheel and Trakhees fees following issues with the planning permit documentation. I am seeking reimbursement of these additional costs.
Based on my personal experience, I would strongly recommend that anyone considering this company carefully reviews the contract, confirms all materials and specifications in writing, and independently checks the quality of work before making payments.
Unfortunately, my experience fell significantly short of expectations, particularly given the amount spent.

Salam everyone! Does anyone know the best way to find working coupon codes for online shopping in the UAE?
I've noticed that alot of discounts listed online are expired or come with conditions that aren't mentioned clearly. Would be helpful to know where you guys find codes that actually work on regular orders.
if you've recently used any good discounts codes or cash back offers, feel free to share your experience in the comments.
Also curious whether these offers usually work for existing users or are mostly for new accounts.

Hey guys,
Has anyone here dealt with Maxim Immigration in Business Bay for visa processing or PR?
Looking for genuine reviews on their service, transparency with fees, and if they actually deliver what they promise. Appreciate any feedback from personal experience.

I recently sold my car, and I still have AED 56 remaining in my Salik account.
Is there any way to withdraw this balance as a refund, or can I transfer it to another Salik account or use it for a different vehicle?
Has anyone gone through this process after selling their car? I’d appreciate any advice or guidance on how to recover or use the remaining balance.
Thanks in advance!

I've been trying to be more conscious of where my money goes. I've read a lot of stories about Israeli exporters disguising the country of origin, and dates seem to be a big case of this.
I found these dates at Viva. The box says "Jordanian Medjoul Dates," but there's no company name, farm, packer, or importer anywhere on the front, so I can't verify the source.
Does anyone recognize this packaging, or know who supplies it?
Any tips on how to trace the real source?
Photos attached.

Early 30s, moved to Dubai from Europe earlier this year. Back home my career went well: senior role in the creative industry, worked with big international brands, built a few things from scratch.
Since I got here, nothing has really closed, and not for lack of trying:
Pitched to a few big companies. Good meetings, then silence.
Applied to a lot of jobs. Hardly any replies.
Working on my own business idea with potential partners. They're interested, but everything hinges on one more step that keeps taking longer.
I've been putting in full-time hours for months without income, and my savings are slowly going down.
The money isn't the worst part yet, I still have some runway. It's the feeling that everything moves away right before it closes. Some days I feel completely drained, and it puts strain on my relationship, which I really don't want.
Today I spoke to a friend in the same industry who was fully booked last year. Same situation now, same confusion. Weirdly, that helped. Maybe it's the market and not just me.
So:
Is the creative and marketing market here just slow right now, or am I missing something?
If you went through a long dry spell here, what actually broke it?
How do you keep your head straight and your relationship healthy while you wait?
Not looking for pity. I'm still training, still getting up, still showing up. Just want honest input from people who've been there.

After seeing so many people affected w the seasonal flu, I’m planning to get the vaccine. I don’t have any issuance.
Are there any free vaccine options in Sharjah?
What are the paid options? And how much do they cost?
Did anyone experience any side effects from the vaccine?
Thankyou

Looking at the condition of the phone, I don’t think it can ever be fixed. It’s not one of those flagship phones, its not even entry level. But my mom’s really sad and I’m very upset about it bcz that was my mom’s first gift from dad in many years 😭

I’m an artist researching how people choose cultural days out in Abu Dhabi.
Thinking about the last time you considered a museum or exhibition on Saadiyat: what did you end up doing, and who were you planning for?
Where did you look for information? Was anything difficult to work out, or was planning straightforward?
If you chose not to go, what tipped the decision? If you went, what do you wish you’d known beforehand?
If it has never been on your list, I’d be interested to hear why too. I’m looking for real experiences, not feedback on a product.

Hi All, I wanted to prepare to apply for Golden Visa in future and most importantly regardless, prepare my Certificate and Transcript for any unforeseen future related requirements
I already have an Attested Certificate that I will later upload to DataFlow but...
My questions is : Do i need to attest my transcript as well before I upload it in DataFlow ? Does DataFlow accept unattested Transcript ?
Anyone with similar experience, please advise
Thanks

For the past few weeks I’ve been getting calls every single day about my e& home plan. Some come from unknown landline numbers, others from registered companies (one shows up as J M T Marketing Research, another as New Rising Marketing). I’ve even had WhatsApp messages from Indian numbers about the same thing.
The script is always the same:
“May I speak with [my full name]? Your Etisalat eLife plan expires on [date]. We’d like to renew it for you / transfer it to a new owner / get you a special offer.”
They know my full name and my contract end date, which honestly bothers me more than the calls themselves.
The timing is like clockwork: 9am, 10am, 2pm, 3pm. Minimum twice a day, different number every time. I’ve told almost every caller clearly that I’m not interested and to stop calling. Doesn’t matter, tomorrow it starts again.
Some context: I took the connection directly from e&, I manage it myself, and once my contract ends it simply continues month-to-month. If I want to change anything, I’ll do it with e& directly. I don’t need a middleman “renewing” anything for me.
I tried to register my number on the DNCR through the Etisalat, but after entering the OTP the page just keeps loading and never confirms. So I’m not even sure my registration went through.
A few questions for anyone who’s been through this:
Any other tips besides blocking every number one by one?
Thanks in advance.
