Blues jams around Tucson ?

Hello Amigos

Im curious if yall have any blues jams around town. The kind where there’s a house band that plays for a bit and then the folks in the crowd sign up and plug in and jam.

Or are there any good music secrets around ?

What’s the music scene like in general

Thanks so much for sharing any information

Best Resort with Dining, Spa, Pools

The search I pulled up in the community was a bit dated on this topic and I was wondering if there were any changes within the last year or so. I'm looking for the best resort for a staycation with my spouse. Nice, updated rooms, amazing dining, top notch spa services, pools, etc. Price is not an issue. We went to Talking Stick over the weekend and it was nice, but made me wonder what was closer to Tucson. I know I can google this but I really value the feedback from the community and google reviews don't always provide the truth.

The Retreat at Speedway

Has anyone lived at or is currently living here? If so, how much do you pay for rent after all the extra charges? This is at the top of my list but I wanna know what I can expect financially.

For reference, I lived next door at Somerpointe, which I did like the area; I didn’t care for the manager at the time. I liked that area and I want to move back on the east side. I was paying just under $1,500.00 for a two bedroom two bath while I was there. I moved out because I was gonna move in with an ex and when those plans fell through, I scrambled to find a place.

I’m currently living on the south west side paying $1,130 for a one bedroom one bath 🫠 the listed price was $895 but after all the extra charges it went up to $1,070 then I renewed my lease and the rent was bumped up $50. It’s not a bad place but it’s not worth paying $1,130 total and definitely not worth another $50 if they’re going to bump my rent up again. My lease is up next July but time will fly which is why I’m looking.

I lived on the south side for the majority of my life except those two years I was at Somerpointe. I’m kinda sick of the south side.

I’m open to other suggestions though. Thanks in advance.

Heads up y'all! they’re moving forward with an ICE detention center in Marana. Council meeting is tomorrow night

I was on Instagram and saw that PRICE is asking people to show up at the Marana council meeting tomorrow, so passing it along.

Basically, there’s an old private prison out in Marana (Silverbell Rd) that they want to turn into an ICE detention center. The company, MTC, already signed the contract with DHS. Reports say anywhere from 513 to 775 beds, depending on which document you look at.

Tucson’s council voted 7-0 against it and so did Pima County, but Marana’s council hasn’t. They are acting like their hands are tied but PRICE says that’s not really true, since MTC still needs a business license and construction permits from the town. So they want people there tomorrow to tell the council not to approve them.

Details:

  • Tuesday 10/20, 6 PM
  • Marana Town Council, 11555 W Civic Center Dr
  • Get there by 5:30 if you want to speak, you fill out a speaker card
  • They’re asking people to wear orange
  • For more info: priceaz.org

If you can’t go, maybe send it to someone who can.

Borrowing/renting bouldering pads for climbing

Hi Tucson people,

I'll be visiting Tucson from December 20-30 this year (2026) with my partner and some friends. We're climbers and we're hoping to do some outdoor bouldering while we're there, but we're unable to bring our own pads with us. We're looking into whether we can rent boulder pads from the BLOC climbing gym while we're there, but this may be difficult right around the Christmas holiday. So I'm just curious if anyone could recommend any other possible ways to get a couple of boulder pads for a couple days while we're in town. Obviously it would be fabulous if someone was willing just to lend us a few pads for a few days, but we're also happy to pay for rentals from other places or just from other climbers in town who aren't going to be using them then.

We'll have a car with us while we're there and were thinking of going to Cochise Stronghold, but also curious to hear other bouldering area recommendations.

FYI I created this Reddit account just to post this question. I barely even look at Reddit normally so I'm not sure what the norms of posting are around here - forgive me if I've posted this in the wrong place or the wrong way!

Thanks so much everyone!

Anyone in Tucson work for HopSkipDrive?

I keep getting their recruitment ads on Facebook. My quick search on Reddit shows experiences very widely in different areas. So, first I want to know is this even active here in Tucson ?

If you worked for them, how long did it take for fingerprints and background check to go through?

Is the pay different for drivers than for rider companions?

Thanks for any info. Seems like a good side hustle if it's active here

Strange Siren Alarm Sound around the Amphi area?

Did anyone hear that super strange siren noise from last night around 11:30pm? It was like a deep, unusual, rising-and-falling howling siren that lasted about five minutes?

I was on my way home on Glenn around 5:45 and the sky was gorgeous. But alas… I got absolutely potato pics.

I told my wife, who actually knows how to take a good picture, but she went out about 5 minutes too late.
