Heads up y'all! they’re moving forward with an ICE detention center in Marana. Council meeting is tomorrow night

I was on Instagram and saw that PRICE is asking people to show up at the Marana council meeting tomorrow, so passing it along.

Basically, there’s an old private prison out in Marana (Silverbell Rd) that they want to turn into an ICE detention center. The company, MTC, already signed the contract with DHS. Reports say anywhere from 513 to 775 beds, depending on which document you look at.

Tucson’s council voted 7-0 against it and so did Pima County, but Marana’s council hasn’t. They are acting like their hands are tied but PRICE says that’s not really true, since MTC still needs a business license and construction permits from the town. So they want people there tomorrow to tell the council not to approve them.

Details:

  • Tuesday 10/20, 6 PM
  • Marana Town Council, 11555 W Civic Center Dr
  • Get there by 5:30 if you want to speak, you fill out a speaker card
  • They’re asking people to wear orange
  • For more info: priceaz.org

If you can’t go, maybe send it to someone who can.

Did anyone get a (good) picture of the sunset today?

I was on my way home on Glenn around 5:45 and the sky was gorgeous. But alas… I got absolutely potato pics.

I told my wife, who actually knows how to take a good picture, but she went out about 5 minutes too late.

Groomer for nervous dogs/tips for care

Hi everyone, happy Monday!

My dog is 65 pounds of silliness and sweetness. She loves people but unfortunately was abused before we rescued her. This leads to her being nervous about basically everything to do with grooming, but especially with nail clipping. She is strong and just pulls away, whimpers, or runs away and hides.
We try our best to do it as often as it should be done because she deserves the best care, but it is a lot to keep up with because it is such a struggle every time.
We have tried everything recommended on Google and elsewhere to do it at home successfully. I apologize if this is a naive question, we have never taken her to a groomer. Are there any things that groomers do to make the process easier? Is it worth taking her to a groomer and having someone else do it?
Another thing to mention is she has dog reactivity. Unfortunately when we found her, she had scratches and bite marks on her from other dogs. does anyone know of a vet that could ensure there wouldn't be other dogs at the appointment, even if we need to pay extra? I know there are mobile groomers available, are they worth the price? Any recommendations for groomers that have helped owners in similar situations?
Thanks in advance everyone.

Where in Tucson to get a tailored men’s suit in under a week

I need a business suit for an interview and need to have it in hand by this Sunday night. It needs to fit well (i.e. be tailored) and be in a conservative color palette. Don’t have the chance to drive to Phoenix in the meantime, so where might I start looking in Tucson for this? Thanks in advance!

Pima/Alvernon Shell Gas

I decided to check out the cheap gas at the Pina and Alvernon Shell. My gas light had just come on which is my usual cue to fill up my tank because I know there's about a gallon or so safety. Normally, that usually takes about 13 gallons to fill the tank unless I really push it and sometimes it takes 13.5. At the Shell today it took 14.5 gallons to fill what I'm pretty sure is a 14 gallon tank, so I'm wondering if the gas there is cheap because they are scamming everyone. I'm not positive, but it seems pretty suspicious to me. Anyone experience something similar?

Tucson-area pain doctor recommendations - prescribed opioids and cannabis

Burner account for privacy and such.

I’m looking for firsthand recommendations for a pain management doctor in Tucson or within about 60 miles who accepts Humana.

I have significant well documented back issues among many other medical problems.

My pain still isn’t adequately controlled, and my current doctor has said several times that she expects I’ll need substantially higher opioid doses. Her practice caps treatment at 50 MME/day for patients who use cannabis, and I’m essentially at that threshold.

Cannabis helps me with more than pain. It also helps with nausea and PTSD symptoms, and I want to preserve those benefits as my pain treatment changes.

Has anyone worked with a doctor who will consider opioid treatment above 50 MME/day while cannabis use continues, based on an individual evaluation? I understand that any treatment decisions would require reviewing my records and assessing my situation.

Specific doctors or clinics you’ve personally dealt with would be helpful, especially if you know their policy on using both. I’d like to clarify that before paying for an appointment and transferring records.
