is this normal (pt 2)
photos . i’m no animal rights person. i’m really nihilistic and let be kinda guy. i know we murder millions of chicks every day to munch on. i wasn’t gonna post anything until i saw all the kids playing with dead chicks there. most posts in other thread are immediately calling me a whiner. i’m not whining. literally my thread title is “is this normal lol?” so im not whining. i did report it to the city tho via email because i am allowed an opinion even if its wrong. and to me seeing kids playing around dead animals after 8 hours in the sun in a box was enough for me. i have lived in tokyo for 10 years and this was a first for me.

Has anyone encountered this person filming and verbally harassing strangers in Tokyo?
Hi everyone,
As a Turkish person, I feel uncomfortable watching the videos posted on this Instagram account, which appears to feature interactions with strangers in Tokyo.
Instagram account: https://www.instagram.com/hakan_karabulut58/
Example video: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DeRo3vxT9cp/
I understand Turkish, so I can recognize the insults and vulgar language being used in these videos. In the example linked above, the person approaches a stranger and asks where he is from. When the stranger asks who he is and tells him to go away, the person responds with an aggressive and extremely vulgar insult in Turkish.
What concerns me is that the people being filmed may not understand Turkish and therefore may not realize that they are being insulted. From what I have seen, this does not appear to be an isolated incident; the account contains multiple videos in which the person approaches strangers who may not want to interact with him and directs Turkish insults or abusive language at them.
As a Turkish person, I find this behaviour disturbing, especially because the people being targeted may not understand what is being said about them. I believe people should be able to go about their lives in public without being subjected to unwanted interactions and verbal abuse.
I am not trying to encourage anyone to harass, threaten, or attack this person online. I would simply like to raise awareness of the behaviour shown in these publicly posted videos and find out whether it can be reported to the appropriate authorities in Tokyo.
Does anyone know the appropriate way to report repeated verbal harassment of this kind to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police, or whether this behaviour may violate Japanese law?

Anybody who has experience losing a wallet, how long did it take for it to be located and returned, or picked up? I lost my stuff Sunday morning and after calling today it still has not been located within tokyo metro or JR.
Supposedly items logged can be 0-2 days then it will go the central lost and found after 3-7 days.

Beginner/English friendly Climbing Gyms - Tokyo
Beginner Bouldering/Top Rope Gyms?
Hi!
I recently moved to Tokyo and I’m interested in getting into top rope / bouldering, but I’m very beginner.
Does anyone have any recommendations for gyms in Tokyo that offer English speaking courses or have staff that can give lessons?

Where to buy used drum cymbals?
I'm looking to buy used cymbals for my drum kit, fair quality but less pricey than something new. Which shops should I check out?

Looking for recommendations for a sports orthopedic / physiotherapy clinic in Tokyo (L4-L5 disc herniation)
TL;DR: Looking for recommendations for a good sports orthopedic or physiotherapy clinic in Tokyo for L4-L5 disc herniation. Been dealing with back and leg pain for 5–6 months. Traction and electrical therapy haven't helped, and surgery isn't necessary at this stage. Prefer exercise-based rehabilitation, ideally covered by Japanese health insurance, but open to reasonably priced private clinics. Not looking for bone-setting clinics (整骨院 / 接骨院).
I've been dealing with an L4-L5 disc herniation for the past 5–6 months, causing persistent lower back pain and pain in both legs. My symptoms were gradually improving, but a recent long flight caused them to worsen again.
I've been seeing orthopedic doctors and undergoing rehabilitation, mainly using traction machines and electrical stimulation therapy. Unfortunately, these treatments haven't helped much.
My doctor recently confirmed that surgery is not necessary at this stage and recommended continuing physiotherapy. However, I'd like to find a clinic that offers more hands-on, exercise-based rehabilitation rather than just machines.
I'm looking for recommendations for a good sports orthopedic or physiotherapy clinic in Tokyo, preferably one with experience treating lumbar disc herniations.
Ideally, I'd like somewhere that accepts Japanese national health insurance, but I'm also open to private clinics if their out-of-pocket fees are reasonable.
My doctor has specifically advised me against going to bone-setting clinics (整骨院 / 接骨院), so I'm looking for a proper orthopedic or physiotherapy clinic.
I live in Adachi, but I'm willing to travel within Tokyo for good treatment.
Has anyone had a similar experience or can recommend a clinic that actually helped them recover?
Thanks in advance!

Are there any gaming clubs or meetups for kids in Tokyo?
Hi everyone!
I’m looking for gaming clubs or communities in Tokyo for my 10-year-old son.
English is his dominant language, and he loves Roblox, Minecraft (especially Hypixel PvP), and gaming memes.
I’ve found plenty of coding classes and educational gaming programs, but I’m looking for something different — a relaxed place where kids can enjoy gaming together, talk about their favorite games, and socialize naturally.
Ideally, it would be a place where English-speaking kids around his age can meet in person, rather than just play online.
We live in western Tokyo but are happy to travel to central Tokyo.
Does anyone know of any existing clubs, gaming meetups, or family-friendly gaming communities in the Tokyo area?
Thanks in advance!

What happened in Kichijoji this morning, around 9:40am??
I was exiting the train station when a few people, one of whom was carrying their small child, dashed past me. At first I thought it was just a family in a rush, but as I got out of the station (the North Exit), I realised that EVERYONE was running away. A hoard of people were running away from the station and across the road, and the police (there’s a koban right there) made some kind of announcement but I couldn’t catch it. I was so scared that there had been an attack or that there was an emergency so I also ran down the road a little to get away from that area.
I’ve been searching online throughout the day to see if there was an incident or an event, but nothing is coming up. Apparently there was a small fire about 10 mins away from the station, but it can’t have been that. No one was screaming, so maybe they could have been running to get somewhere instead? But again, I can’t find any events that I think would have made crowds of people run as fast as possible to get there!
I’m just wondering if anyone knows because I’m so puzzled about it!

Japan to fall to 6th in world GDP rankings behind India, Britain: IMF
BANGKOK (Kyodo) -- The International Monetary Fund projects that Japan's nominal gross domestic product, measured in U.S. dollars, will be overtaken by India and Britain in 2027, falling from fourth to sixth place globally.
Since 2023, Japan has ranked fourth behind the United States, China and Germany. The IMF's GDP projections were released earlier this month, amid the yen's continuing weakness against the U.S. dollar and sluggish Japanese economic growth.
According to the IMF's World Economic Outlook, Japan's nominal GDP is projected at $4.3419 trillion in 2026 and $4.4676 trillion in 2027. For both years, the calculations appear to have been based on an exchange rate in the range of 158 yen to the dollar.
Meanwhile, India's GDP is expected to reach $4.5211 trillion in 2027, jumping from sixth to fourth place globally.
In the key quarterly report released in April, the IMF had projected that Britain would overtake Japan in 2029. However, it is now forecasting British GDP at $4.4889 trillion in 2027.
While Japan's real economic growth is projected at 0.7 percent in both 2026 and 2027, India's economy is expected to expand 7 percent on a fiscal year basis in both years. The report said that "India remains among the fastest-growing major economies," driven by "resilient domestic demand and robust services activity."
The report said Britain's economy is likely to grow 1.3 percent in 2026 and 1.2 percent in 2027.
Japan had long held the No. 2 spot globally, but following China's rapid growth, it fell to third place in 2010 and was overtaken by Germany in 2023, slipping to fourth place.

Specifically I’m looking for spanner wrenches / suction cups. I saw some in Yodobashi Akiba but they were quite expensive. Is online the only alternative?

What are your thoughts on foreigners/tourists wanting to date or hook up with Japanese women?
Do you think it's inherently wrong? If so, why? For example, some dude who moved to Japan for work seeking dates or hook ups with locals, or some guy on a trip to Japan doing the same.

Is there a neighborhood for car stuff?
I’ll be in town briefly, and I would like to find shops that sell old car memorabilia or parts like steering wheels etc. Is there a neighborhood where I’m more likely to encounter this sort of thing, like you can find old video games and electonrics in Akihabara for example?

Looking for a pastry chef in Tokyo to help with some recipes
Hey all, me and my brother are working on opening a little matcha café here in Tokyo. We want to have some small squared pound cakes on the menu (like French quatre-quarts) with a few original flavors that go with matcha but none of us know much about cakes.
So if you’re a pastry chef and that sounds like something you’d be into, send me a DM! We’d pay for your time of course. I speak English, French and Japanese so whatever works for you.

Quieter areas to look for apartments in Tokyo
Hi all! I currently live in Ikebukuro, which is already on the outskirts, however I am trying to find very quiet areas to live as I have a hearing disability. I'd appreciate your ideas! I've already tried going to places closer to Minato and Kichijoji etc but maybe I've missed something?

A little help
I’m a skater here in Tokyo and I get kicked out of places within 10 minutes. Can anyone recommend me spots within the Shinjuku and Shibuya area where I won’t get kicked out so fast!?
