Mod Post New Rules: No AI, No Unnecessary Politics

Hi everyone.

We've added two new rules to the sub:

No AI

Pretty self explanatory. No posts or comments that have been AI generated or "enhanced", and no AI images.

No Unnecessary Politics

Political comments and posts that aren't strictly on topic and related to T-Mobile will be removed. I think we all get enough politics elsewhere online and in our lives right now, so try to keep it out of the r/tmobile sub.

Thank you!

Appreciation Retention offer included moving me to grandfathered Go5G plus plan and a 20% ‘lifetime’ discount

TL;DR
After T-Mobile forced my 10-year business account into a rate hike to $244/month, I used a $170 month competitor quotes from AT&T and Verizon as leverage to negotiate. After multiple attempts with frontline care and T-Force, a really nice rep migrated all four lines to the grandfathered Go5G Business Plus plan and manually added a ‘permanent’ 20% Discount based on our decade of perfect payment history. That dropped my bill to $176/month all-in (saving $68/mo / $816/yr) while adding 50GB hotspot, unthrottled premium data, 15GB Canada/Mexico roaming, and top-tier $800–$1,000 phone trade-in eligibility. Don't take the first "no"—persistence with T-Force and real competitor leverage can still unlock backend discounts on existing accounts as well as access to old plans. Shoutout to T-Mobile and the rep that went above and beyond!

BACKSTORY:
I’ve had a 4-line T-Mobile Business account for 10 years. We were originally on a grandfathered ONE plan until T-Mobile migrated us without consent onto Business Unlimited Advantage TI, pushing our bill up to **$244/mo**. While the features were decent such as Netflix and triple a, the forced price hike rubbed me the wrong way and we never got access to top tier phone trade in offers.

I priced out switcher promos on AT&T and Verizon, which came in around $170/mo. I prefer T-Mobile’s service as they have always been fair to us prior to these few hiccups, so instead of jumping ship, I first used the competitor quotes as leverage to negotiate a retention deal and try to moved onto the grandfathered Go5G Business Plus plan.

Process:
It took four attempts across standard business phone reps and T-Force (X and Facebook) to get through the usual pushback:

**Rep 1**: Claimed Go5G Business Plus was retired and zero retention offers existed. They appreciated my loyalty and tried hard to switch me to a current plan.

**Rep 2**: Located and Offered Go5G Business Plus at the standard $220/mo (with AutoPay), which barely touched my bill. But it atleast showed me they can find this old plan in there system and are willing to offer it in certain situations. That was a plus but I still was trying to also save money.

**Rep 3**: Insisted T-Force has no retention tools for business accounts as the system won’t let them and that I would need to reach out to the business side . They once again offered to move me to the Go5g plan and tried to talk me into other plans that I didn’t have interest in and telling me that I already am getting a lot of value by being swapped to a no longer “existing” plan. Essentially by opening the door for top tier value trade ins.

**Rep 4 (The Win):*\* She first repeated that the plan wasn't available, I pointed out that previous reps had already offered it to me. She checked the notes, put me on hold for about 10 minutes, and came back with the ultimate fix: she migrated all 4 lines to Go5G Business Plus ***and*** when I pushed back that the price was still an issue she applied a permanent 20% Discount to the account. I was very surprised at that offer. At best I thought I’d possibly get 10-20$ a month credit for the next X amount of months. She said she was willing to offer it to keep my business and that it was due to us also having perfect payment history for the last 10yrs. Judging from what I’ve read on here I think I got very lucky I’ve seen people say the 20% discount can’t be added to existing plans and that they are not given out easily. So i am extremely grateful for the women that helped me.

The Breakdown:
Old Rate: $244/mo (Business Unlimited Advantage)
New Rate: $176/mo all-in with autopay discount (Taxes & Fees Included)
Savings:$68/month ($816/year)

Perks gained: 50GB high-speed hotspot per line (up from 40GB), Microsoft 365 or Netflix included, 15gb data for Canada and Mexico up from 5gb , full flight streaming vs 4 flights a year , 4k video streaming instead of 1080p, Unlimited premium data, and full access to top-tier device trade-in promos ($800–$1,000 off).

While Go5G tiers don't have the new 5-year price guarantee I was told, but for me still locking in Taxes & Fees Included at $176/mo with top-tier trade-in values blows away any current plans that are offered from T-Mobile or elsewhere.

Takeaway: Never take the first "no" from frontline care. If you have legitimate competitor pricing, stay polite, keep pushing with T-Force, and if you get the right rep be thankful that they are willing to go above and beyond because many aren’t. Shoutout to T-Mobile and the awesome rep that helped fix our relationship issues! **Here’s to another 10 yrs** 😎

Question Costco Inventory vs T-Mobile Retail Stores

So does Costco have its own inventory that isn't managed by T-Mobile or perhaps a subset of T-Mobile inventory that is dedicated to just purchases made through Costco?

I noticed it this morning, the iPhone Duo 512gb black was showing ship date October 22 a whole 4 hours after pre-orders opened on the T-Mobile Costco portal, but the general T-Mobile website was showing late November delivery. Still now, Costco has it for October 28 - Nov 3 and general T-Mobile standard site has it Nov 25 - Dec 8. The T-Force rep I was talking to did say they have different inventories but it didnt make much sense to me, but it seems like that has to be the case unless someone thinks otherwise. Kind of worried it is a glitch and I wont get my phone until January, so if you seen this with other iPhone pre-orders please chime in

Discussion How a Prepaid Family Plan SHOULD Actually Work in India

How a Prepaid Family Plan SHOULD Actually Work in India

We finally have prepaid family plans, which is a great step. But let's be honest - the way data sharing is offered right now doesn't make sense.

With Wi-Fi everywhere and 5G unlimited, most of our daily data just goes to waste. The current model of "share data twice a week" with a fixed discount is not a real family plan. It's just marketing.

If telcos really want to make it useful, this is how it should work:

  1. Two Clear Data Buckets
We need to stop mixing everything. There should be:
    a) Daily Expiring Data (e.g. 1.5GB/day)
    b) Validity Data / Rollover Data (with full plan validity)

  2. A Common Reserve Bucket - The Game Changer
Don't limit us to 2 shares a week. Give us one common Reserve Bucket.
If I want to share, I transfer my data to that reserve bucket anytime I want. My family members can then use from there.
    • If I transfer daily data, it expires the same day at midnight.
    • If I transfer validity data, it stays valid till the plan expiry.
And please add Automation. Let me auto-share to selected numbers when they run low.

  3. Make it Affordable for Family Members
To keep using shared data, family members should not need a full Rs. 299 plan.
Just a minimal Rs. 99 rental plan where incoming is free and they can consume data from the shared reserve bucket.
For calling, let them recharge with small minute packs as needed.

This way, a family of 4 doesn't pay for 4 full recharges where 70% data is wasted. One or two primary members recharge fully, others stay connected on Rs. 99 and use the shared pool.

Simple, no wastage, truly family-first.
What do you guys think? Would you use this model?

Question Are experience more and beyond the only options?

I'm considering adding a line to my t-mo account which only has a watch line on it. When I go to add lines, there are only 2 options - a 105 line and a 90 line both which can be discounted 5 with autopay.

Are these really the only options? Or, I need to call in, or go into a store?

Even with a discounted phone (over 36 month installments is crazy work), the math aint mathing. What am I missing?

Appreciation When in doubt, write to T-Force!

Last week I posted about a phone not showing up as eligible for a yearly upgrade. As suspected it was purchased through an EIP before I changed the experience beyond, so technically it didn’t qualify.

T-Force went ahead and closed the installment plan, so I was able to use it for my yearly upgrade and take advantage of the $1200 off the z fold 8. I can’t promise it will be like that for everyone but they were genuinely super helpful.

Question Sim protection stuck on for all 4 lines, any advice?

We enrolled 4 lines with Tmobile 48 hours ago. Only 1 out of 4 lines work. Customer service in store and corporate says its due to SIM protection.

We spent 3 hours at a Tmobile in a Costco, and another 1.5 hours at a standalone Tmobile store, they both called corporate, got bounced back and forth between customer care and technical support and fraud and no one was able to figure it out. After a bunch of holds and transfer, the stores closed and we had to leave.

Aside from 4.5 hours spent in store we also spent about an hour on the phone at home too, until they told us to go into a store

If I call at home, they tell me to go into the store. If I go into the store, they call corporate and the cycle repeats, we've been without any service for a whole day now.

We've tried every thing in the T-life app and sim protection is stuck on, no one can help us

Question Work Perks (15% Off) Questions

Wondering if I would even qualify. I work in public school transportation as a contractor. I do have a work badge issued by the school district but I am not technically a district employee. Are there certain days and times that are best to try calling the Work Perks number to verify?

T mobile employee or customer who has experienced this, please tell me: Based on the current "Get a 3rd line FREE" promo, if I signed up for Experience Beyond 2.0 plan for 4 lines at $215/mo right now, say two months later, if I cancel 1 line, will I pay $170 for the remaining 3 lines or still the same $215 for the remaining 3 lines?

And if I don't cancel or do any change, will the free lines remaining free forever?? Thank you.

Question Protection 360 Mechanical Failure

Today I noticed that my phone which has the Protection 360 on it is no longer charging which seems to be caused by an issue with the charging port. I file a claim through the mytmoclaim.com website and it is closed stating that this is considered a mechanical failure, and this is responsibility of T-Mobile and I should get ahold of their customer care to get my device repaired. So, I go and contact them, and the agent tells me that I should contact Assurant, who just tells me again to contact T-Mobile. I am honestly lost for what to do, should I try filing another claim or going to the T-Mobile store like the one agent on the phone suggested doing claiming they may be able to help me better.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am at a loss for what to do.

Thanks

Discussion Upgrade promotions for Go5g plus?

I’ve got an iPhone 15 plus and I’m on the go5g plus plan. I missed the upgrade opportunities in the past, and I’ve been watching the past few months and each time a new phone is released, that trade in value T-Mobile offers me gets lower and lower. To the point now, that that the duo just released, they’re only offering me roughly a $400 discount off the 18 pro max ($37 a month for 24 months cost to me).

I realize I needed to have upgraded every 2 years in order to make the most of this plan, but what can I do now to best remedy this? Do we think T-Mobile will bring back the $800-1000 promotions for older phones for the 18 pro or pro max?

Question Question about T-Mobile port-in promo?

I'm on Go5G Plus plan and planning to add two lines with BOGO promotion. I also want to take advantage of port-in no trade in promotion on iPhone. My question is can I get phone number from AT&T Build-A-Plan and port in? Would that qualify for the port-in no trade in promotion on iPhone? If not, what are the best ways to get numbers for port-in promo?

How much of "any condition" is acceptable. I'm curious bc it doesn't say anything about cracks in the back, but it does say that for front screen accepts superficial damage that hasn't caused a crack. Asking for the $1000 off duo promo

Question Can anyone tell me what our PTO caps out at?

I got about 250 PTO hours in my bucket. I was actually back-paid 150ish hours due to tenure not sticking when rehired. My manager was trying to have me take time off so I don’t lose PTO as we cap out but wasn’t sure the number. I’ve heard anywhere from 280-320. Does anyone know?

Edit: forgot to mention I live in CA

Question Trade in with a financed phone

I have an iPhone 17 pro max that’s being financed with t mobile. It only runs me like 2 bucks a month, and I’m 13 months in. They won’t let me upgrade without doing paying off the full amount, but the question is would I be able to trade in the phone at Apple for an unlocked on and keep paying the monthly as if I still had it?

Question How do I get my Simple Choice plan fixed?

Had my plan changed but was misinformed by rep about it so had it changed back to simple choice. Noticed my data wasn’t working properly / super slow and they claimed to fix it. Turns out they added a $10 a month extra North America Family Feature to get the data working which doesn’t make sense.

I’ve had simple choice for 13 years and I believe in 2024 they swapped everyone to unlimited without paying extra. Somehow that got lost.

How can I get them to fix it so I can pay my old cost?

I have 4 lines, should be $100 a month not including tax :(

Question Assurant question

I filed a claim for my S21 Ultra. Yes, I know it's old. Claim was approved. Today, i received my replacement phone, an S24+, is it an upgrade, yes, but at the same time no. When calling assurant, they tried to advocate that it is an upgrade with better features. And while I dont disagree that it is better in some ways, it does lose the S-Pen capability. After telling them that they transfered me to T-mobile. Who then transfered me back to assurant. They state that if they don't have an exact replacement, they will replace the phone with something with the same pecs or better. Am I wrong to expect a flagship model as I have been paying insurance on a flagship model?

Question Can I Change My Trade-In Device?

Hi there. I want to change my trade in device for bill credits. Is that a problem to do in store or does it have to match the IMEI I put in when signing up?
