Help Please help me not losing motivation again
I had played the game about two years ago and made it to phase 3. Then I felt overwhelmed by what I’d built so far and what was required next, so I stopped playing.
Two weeks ago I started a new save file and have been having a lot of fun with it again so far. I’m currently in phase 2. But when I think about the more advanced parts that lie ahead, I’m afraid I’ll lose motivation again soon and quit.
What held me back back then, and the fear I’m already feeling again, is that the factories I’ve built so far for basic parts aren’t enough to produce the advanced materials. I’m really unsure how to handle the following situation, for example:
I’ll need to make modular engines soon. To do that, I’ll need motors, among other things, and those, in turn, require rotors. I’ve already built a factory that produces only rotors. This factory itself produces all the needed parts itself and does not get it from other factories.
Should I route the output from my rotors factory to the motors factory, and then route that output to the modular engines factory? But that would mean I wouldn’t have any rotors left to use for research, for example.
Or should I build a large factory where it produces its own rotors, motors, and then modular engines? But that would require so many iron resources that I’d need conveyor belts running from several mines in different parts of the map into my factory, and that doesn’t feel right either.
What’s the best way to approach this?
What’s your strategy for advanced parts that require basic parts, but without having all the basic parts go exclusively toward producing the advanced ones?
