Discussion Coming Back From Trip To Italy and Greece AMA

I know a lot of people on this subreddit expressed fear over going to Italy due to a viral fat shaming incident. My husband and I are on the plane back to the US from our two week trip, and I have a fear of flying so I thought it would do me good to answer any questions you have or about any fears.

For background, we were in Rome, Sicily, Pompeii, the Amalfi Coast, Santorini, Mykonos, and Tuscany. My husband and I are both plus side, probably not mid sized but not super fat either.

Ask me anything about how the people were, chair situations, accommodations for tours, etc.

Fashion Discussion Jack Stillman Cape

Hi all

I exist in a larger body (UK 28/30). I also have lipoedema and lymphoedema, so have issues with swelling.

I am looking at the Mon Ange Cape by Jack Stillman.

I was wondering if anybody in a larger body had any experience with this brand re: size and fit?

TIA

Recommendations Cargo pants

I work in a class for children with special needs, I need extremely durable and preferably a thicker material (denim/canvas) cargos for work.

I am curvy weighing in about 230 and 5’2, hourglass figure my waist is much smaller than my hips!

I prefer the look of men’s cargos (baggy, loose on the ankles, a little bit long) rather than women’s (tend to be skinnier/jogger style)

The more pockets the better

Anyone have any recommendations? I’m willing to buy men’s! But can’t find any that have my size with the baggy legs!

EDITED CUS I PUT THE WRONG HEIGHT LOL!

Fashion Discussion Is Victoria’s Secret plus sized friendly?

I have only purchased body spray from Victoria’s Secret. I keep seeing plus size women talk about their sequins collection. I love pink and everything sparkly. I just wonder how plus size friendly is Victoria’s Secret. Have any of you ever bought the clothing? I just bought a hoodie on clearance for 24.99. I was just wondering if any of you ladies have had any personal experience with the brand.

Discussion Fabletics scrubs

I am looking to revamp my work wardrobe. I am a nurse in a clinic and have lost 70 pounds after having cancer/diabetes/high blood pressure over past few years.

I am still in like a 22/24 depending on size. I am busty with a lower belly, hips, thighs and butt.

I am also trying to ball on a budget and scrubs got expensive af in the last few years.

Fabletics is offering sets for $15. I would love to get a budget option like that. But hear that you have to size up. The biggest size I see for the styles I am interested in are already kinda borderline.

Anyone have feedback? I could possibly skip the shirts and just get the pants.

Fashion Discussion NEED HELP FINDING. Looking for help finding pants for Major Formal Event (Talking Conference/Wedding Degree) Very High Waisted Pants

hey there. 26yo NB here, usually size 28wide womens in pants, and i... basically only wear really high waisted pants, like stuff that sits on my belly button at LEAST. Its my style, its what i'm known for, i even pair it with tucked in shirts, suspenders, cinched belts, even corsets sometimes. I love the whole look and we really made a mistake leaving them in the 70s.

Back when i was pretending to be a man, like, 10 years ago or so, it was as easy as going to a store like DXL and getting some REALLY nice plus size formal wear pants.

Here's the problem. Anything you'd find at old navy, torrid, stuff like that, its not "formal enough".
Its not a high enough formal-type fabric, if that makes sense? This is the type of fabric i wear every day, whereas i am looking for the stuff you would see on full fledged suits.

Where. Where can i find this. Help. Please.

Fashion Discussion How to style a vest

I bought a handful of different style vests and am having a hard time putting an outfit together that doesn’t make me look like Pippin from LOTR (no shade if that’s your thing, but it’s not mine lol).
Does anyone have suggestions? Thank you!

Personal Advice for dating apps

Hiii I'm going to start this off by talking about me. I'm 30 weigh 300lbs and have never posted on here, even then I have no social media and have never used a dating app, never had a boyfriend never even held anyone's hand. I only hear negative things about dating apps but I have had 0 luck meeting anyone irl and I only hear bad things about dating apps honestly. I have such low self esteem and I'm scared to even start and just hoping for some pep talk or positive stories or how do I even go about it. Or if there are better places to meet people IRL?? I'm in Florida if that helps at all. I'm honestly scared to even start what are some positive stories or just good advice??

Thank you for any advice. And sorry if this post is all over the place

Venting Coach Korea

I’m new here and I couldn’t attach any images, but while checking the Coach Korea website, I came across this size simulator.

The maximum weight it allows for someone who is 165 cm is 73 kilos 👀. (approx. 5’55”/161 lbs)

This simulator seems to have been developed by a company called “tangiblee”.

No wonder body image issues are so pervasive in Korea…

Recommendations Downstairs Sweat on Chairs

This has been a problem my entire life, but not much of an issue because it wasn't a musical chair situation.

Well... now I go to a monthly event and we circle through chairs multiple times in a couple hours time. I get up and see sweat stains of my cooch and booty. It is super embarrassing and I am mortified other ladies see it and they have no choice to sit on it. It is plastic chairs so imprints stay.

It doesn't matter how many layers. Today I had three! Undies, leggings and a skirt. It still went through all of that and I wasn't even sweating actively.

Is there any way to prevent this? 🫠

Recommendations Under belly rash?

I have had the most obnoxious rash since May. First, I was given nystatin powder and a fluconazole tablet. Rash then moved from one place to another. Kept using powder in original place, but powder makes new place (under belly fold) work. I was given another dose of fluconazole and ketoconazole cream. The cream/tablet combo manages it decently but hasn’t gone away. It’s now October; I’ve been on 3-4 rounds of fluconazole (twice just single tablets and twice 4 tablets for 4 weeks), hydrocortisone cream and keto cream together, nystatin powder, ketoconazole cream on its own, lotrimin, an antiperspirant and keto cream at the same time. I have been seen by urgent care, dr on demand, and my dermatologist. Dermatologist can’t see me again until end of November.

I was daily with sensitive skin soap, dry the area completely, and then apply cream. I work in retail so sweating it just a part of my life. My underwear sits in the fold on the rash because if there’s no barrier, it chafes and is even worse. The nystatin powder makes it worse, so cream is my go to. Lately, nothing seems to help and I can’t get more fluconazole as they’re worried about long term side effects.

I am desperate to get rid of this. Please. Any tips and tricks would be greatly appreciated.

Recommendations Sweat Ughhh 🥵💦😰

Hey gorgeous ladies! 🥰 I need some advice!
I’m four months post knee replacement and have just started gym rehab with my physio. Today was my first session and OMG, the SWEAT! 🥵😂
I was absolutely mortified when I stood up from the leg press and left a sweaty patch behind. Then, to make matters worse, I sat on a plastic chair in my physio’s office and left another wet patch when I got up! 😭
I’m plus size and I know sweating is normal, but I’m honestly so embarrassed that I’m dreading going back!
The funny thing is, another plus-size lady was working out and sweating buckets, but when she stood up, her seat was completely dry! I wanted to run over and ask what the hell she was wearing! 😂
So ladies, what’s the secret? Is there special underwear or clothing that stops you leaving sweat patches on seats?
I’m too embarrassed to ask anyone I know, so I’m hoping you lovely ladies might have some tips! ❤️

Venting Frustrated/Don't Know If I'm Plus Sized

EDIT: Whoever is down voting this is weird as hell 😭

Hello girls!

I'm making this post with the intent to vent and/or maybe receive some advice.

I'm a tall girl, always have been, but never considered myself traditionally plus sized until more recently.

I was a very late bloomer, was always super tall and super skinny until about 17-18 I finally began to fill out. I loved that I finally filled out because I was starting to feel confident in my body and more like a woman. I finally as an adult feel sexy and secure in myself rather than an awkward lump. And I still feel so confident and comfortable with my body!

However, growing up, I used to by larger clothes so I could keep them for years rather than get all brand new ones the next season, a thing my mom started doing for me by the time I was 7 because I was too tall to stay in kids clothes. Partially because of my height, partially because of fashion and beauty standards of the 00's. Once I filled out, I couldn't do that as well anymore. I started getting fitted and measuring myself and I'm in the 1X range and I'm a size 18. But I don't "look" the way other plus sized women do.

I can't help but feel almost out of place again. Because I know what communities like these mean to women who have been bullied for the weight, who have dealt with the horrible beauty standards over the years, who have fought against these companies for trying to fit them in clothes rather than make clothes that fit. And I feel as though calling myself plus sized is almost like mocking those women or diminishing their experiences.

However, I'm not exactly a size medium or large anymore either. I don't fit most clothes in most stores because they don't make them for my body. They make them for other types of women. I struggle to find clothes in my size all over again just like when I was a kid.

I love my body and the idea of being plus sized doesn't bother me because I find all women and all people beautiful, but I've been criticized in the past for not looking a certain way when using these sorts of labels.

Am I plus sized?

Am I just a victim of big fashion?

Is it both?

Or do I just suck?

Thanks for reading 💕

Recommendations Ankle Brace Recommendations

**This was previously auto-removed, I think because I had listed my height/weight or maybe the link to a brace I was looking at, so I'm reposting. If this still isn't appropriate I apologize and I won't post again.**

Hi, I’m not sure if this is the right sub, but I’d appreciate any help or guidance.

I sprained my right ankle and was given a DJO DonJoy Stabilizing PRO Ankle Brace, right, size XXX-Large. It has too much play around my foot and the bottom of my ankle, but digs into my lower calf/top of my ankle and started poking in certain spots. It’s also too bulky to fit comfortably inside a shoe. Even with the fit issues, it has made walking more bearable, so there is a benefit to wearing it.

For fit context, I wear a women’s 9.5, and have wide feet, a very shallow arch, and very wide calves. I don’t wear boots that go over my ankle because I’ve only ever found one pair that worked at Torrid. Urgent care said a hard walking boot is another option, but I’m less interested in that.

I’d prefer something slim enough to fit inside a shoe. I’ve been looking at compression-style support, they look almost like socks with straps around them. I’m wondering whether that kind of support would work for a sprain on a person my size, given my fit issues.

Discussion Afraid of freaking guys out.

Please let me know if anyone else feels this way. Normally I'm a very outgoing and confident girl. I'm a people person and I have no trouble striking up a conversation with anyone. However once in a while I feel like I have to take a step back with men because I dont want to give them the wrong impression that I like them "that way" and not because I dont want them to crush on me but I dont want to freak them out. Just today one of my favorite male colleagues was having a pretty crappy few days and I wanted to cheer him up. So I picked up some of his favorite Halloween candy and surprised him in his office, the interaction was well received and all good. When I went back to my desk I started to overthink and second guess my actions. I like to do nice things but I was afraid that maybe he thinks I like him "that way" and I didn't want to freak him out and make him back away so he dosent string me along. Its an awful feeling to think this way. I mean do other women feel this way?

Recommendations Recommended way to carry water for hiking?

Hello! What do y'all find the most comfortable way to carry an easily accessible water bottle while hiking? I have a big nalgene bottle and a cross body bag that I'm using right now but I feel off balance while walking and sometimes it shifts and presses against my neck uncomfortably. Should I just get a camelbak? I haven't used one in a while but I remember them tasting kinda gross and hard to put ice in. Thanks!

Recommendations Where are we buying wide calf boots?!

Yall it’s fixing to be fall and I’m wanting some tall boots that’ll fit my chunky calves. I had some yeas ago from a store that’s no longer around, but am having a hard time finding any that are wide calf and also somewhat affordable. Would love if the store has them in person to try on too rather than online only.
Any help is much appreciated!!

Fashion Discussion Seeing Dita in Vegas Nov, dress too hot?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Any Vegas locals here? I am going to see the Dita Von Teese show the first week of Novemeber. I have this Starlet dress by Vixen to wear but wondering if it will be too hot? I prefer longer sleeves regardless of the weather. The fabric is heavier, velvet. I run hot all the time but usually only in humid climates. Long range forecast seems reasonable. I want to look nice and not sweaty from walking to the venue haha.

TW: Fat Shaming Abuse I'm about to give up

I will couch this by saying it's likely going to have more self-deprecation than "normal". Mostly because this is how I truly feel, and my autism doesn't sugar coat things.

I would not consider myself the cute-version of overweight. Some women carry their weight in such a way that - while plus size - they're still attractive. I, on the other hand, am avocado-shaped, at best, due to lipedema.

I turn 40 next month, and have several other disabilities on top of the lipedema, which mean that going to the gym, working out, etc are basically off the table for me. I already tried gastric sleeve surgery and - while I lost about 70kg/150 lbs of weight - it all came back as soon as I wasn't starving myself. I still can't eat a whole happy meal in one sitting.

I realize that I don't look my age, which doesn't help either, as it feels like the only people who are interested in me are in their 20s. that is, when I can find someone interested in me.

So often as soon as someone sees my picture either they fetishize me (boobs or butt) or ghost me. In one day I got 10 people message me on a dating at (which listed that I was curvy and didn't work out). More than one stopped talking to me after I sent the pictures. Without even a goodbye / reason.

So, I'm about to give up on dating. I tried all the apps, tried posting on reddit, tried a few websites. Same issues on all of them.

I'm to the point where I've contemplated a matchmaker.

Venting Crop tops 🤬🤬🤬

I just went shopping and i am so angry. Every top i can find is cropped to either the belly button or just below the bust and its so aggravating. Even the clothes marketed toward the plus size crowd don't have any non cropped options! Im not saying there shouldn't be *any* cropped but it would be nice to have a fall/winter sweater that covered my midriff! I am just starting to love my body again for how it looks and I wanted to find some nice new clothing that actually fit rather than being overly baggy, but I am nowhere near confident enough for a crop top yet so I have 0 options for new tops :( I'm going to check out some other stores tomorrow but this is my third try and im just so frustrated
