Got the interior and chassis mated to the body, underside touched up with black where needed, grille detailed and installed, rear lights in, and currently working on the ratchet straps and bars that will hold the spare wheels in

An old Protar kit from the mid 1980s which is also essentially the Revell, and now, Italeri kit. The kit assembles very well and has working steering. The build is box stock.

I made this from one of the many old Monogram kits I have in my stash and used Power Slide decals from Mike’s Decals. I really like this livery and it’s unfortunate that it only ran one year. I used some rubber jewelry band to make roll bar padding which I showed off on my last SATT post.

For the paint I used Kaleido gloss black primer, which is amazing and looks like freaking obsidian once it dries. It was actually way smoother and shinier before I put clear on. I’m gonna have to use it by itself on a build that doesn’t have any decals.

This was a fun kit. Went together easy. Lots of customization options. Decals were really nice. It came with a lot of decals. I did the old dnd version. There are ones from newer art as well.

What other color variations should we tackle next? Would love to hear your thoughts on how the finish turned out.

Got some paint laid down and let it cure for a week before clearing it today with Krylon Maxx. The blue is createx pearl blue then Splash paints candy blue over it. The dark fade part is a custom black mixed up with a little gold in it.
This kit I’ve been taking my time on and it’s turning out so good. The hood I did a little darker on purpose so it resembled real carbon fiber (used drywall mesh screen over it and lightly sprayed the black/gold mix I had made)
Really fun kit! Can’t wait to grab up another one.

I have been loving their stuff and use it for basically every thing I can, i still have some surfacer black and Tamiya lp5 but otherwise theyve become a go to,

Which brings me to my question for you folks.. what do you do with a colour matched paint once you’ve finished your build.. cause my drawer is starting to groan under the weight of everything in there 😅
