Back to Imaginary Network Basics

We need to talk about recent lower-level effort submissions. r/ImaginaryWarships is a subreddit for professional or near-professional level artwork from various media sources which includes real or fictitious warships.

  • r/ImaginaryWarships is not the subreddit to post incomplete art or practice artwork that contain doodles or text on crumpled lined paper. While that may be considered an admirable effort by some, the results are a low-level aesthetic that is not in keeping with the subreddit’s original spirit and intent.

  • Images that contain too much background clutter, text, or advertisement may be removed.

  • We are not here to showcase AI-generated artwork. It’s not permitted on the Imaginary Network Expanded including this subreddit. Instead try /r/aiArt.

  • Multiple images submissions and/or detailed text in a submission image are not appropriate for this subreddit.

Let’s review: It is the goal of INE to share, inspire, discuss and appreciate static image paintings, drawings, and digital art while maintaining artist credit and source links. Simply stated, that’s accomplished by submitting quality images.

For a complete overview of INE submission requirements, please click on the following link:

Original Content Leonardo da Vinci if reconstructed at around the same time as her sisters

After being refloated in 1919, there were plans to repair her or convert her into an aircraft carrier but there were no funds and she was scrapped in 1923. So, I waited about 10 years and reconstructed her together with her sisters (same new bow, machinery, torpedo defense system etc.). For some reason I ended up merging a pair of Zara's turrets to get those quadruple main turrets but they have less elevation/range because the flight deck is in the way (probably they'll eventually get removed to carry more planes anyway).

Ship made in NavalArt using this hull by the user Vader: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3301957601.

The superstruture and weapon loadout is done by me.

HFS Dragonborn is a super battleship I have been on and off working on for the better part of a year and a half.

This ship meant to represent a battleship of the very late 40's early 50's in a wider lore that covers the fictional mercenaries that built the ship.

I made 2 versions, the original layout and 1985 layout.

In both configurations Dragonborn has 4 quad 18 inch turrets, 20 twin 4.5 inch guns

the 1950 layouy a mix of single, staag, MK 5 and sextuple 40mm bofors mountings totaling to a number I have forgotten round out the firepower.

The missile age refit removed most of the 40mm bofors keeping only 4 sextuple and 4 single mounts.

In place of some of the mounts are O.T.O 40MM CIWS and 4 Sea Dart launchers.

Also added are Exocet missiles on the turret roofing and centre superstruture and in VLS on the quarterdeck.

Also on the quarterdeck is VLS SAM's in the form of in lore more sea dart but in game sea sparrow.

Original Content Modern heavy river gunboat concept (update)

I’m thinking about a modern river gunboat.

Armament:

155mm heavy-armored turrets ×2

Sky Ranger 35mm ×2

CPWS Gen2 equipped with M230LF ×4

120mm twin-barreled mortar ×1

Quad Loitering Munition Launcher ×8

Armored VLS equipped with PGM2000 Centaur cruise missiles ×10

Mk41 VLS Sea sparrow ×12

High power microwave ×1

I’m assuming the armor will be modular, but I’m unsure what material would be best for the internal armor.
