REVIEW I would like to spread some love for Hellraiser: Revival
I made a video reviewing Hellraiser: Revival. I thought this game was a dream come true for Hellraiser fans and I hope it leads to more games like it.
Feel free to let me know what you think of the video if you decide to watch it, but I really wanted to get other people’s thoughts on the game.
I believe this post is within the guidelines as an analysis video, but my apologies if you’re sick of YouTubers on Reddit.

Condemned needs to come back!
Just replayed it. This game needs a return, or at least a spiritual successor. Please god if there’s a dev out there or anyone who’s thinking about making a horror game, look at condemned.

DISCUSSION Silent Hill f hit an all-time low in my country (just under 25 bucks converted directly). Should I buy it? Is the game any good?
I recently came from the Silent Hill 2 Remake and thought it was a masterpiece. I'm fully aware that this won't top it, but can I expect it to at least be a good game for the price of a AAA title?

REVIEW I loved Silent Hill Townfall
First of all, I was worried that *Silent Hill: Townfall* wouldn’t turn out to be a good game. Most of the reviews I read were negative, but I decided to give it a shot anyway. And honestly, I loved it.
Before getting into what I think this game did right, there’s one thing I want to mention. I played *Silent Hill: Townfall* on Story Mode difficulty, and I think it made the overall experience much better.
From the very beginning, I loved the vibe and atmosphere. The sound design is fantastic, and the town feels both unnerving and strangely peaceful. The graphics are great too, but what caught my attention first was the audio. I played with both speakers and headphones, and it sounded great either way. The deep bass and unsettling noises really added to the experience.
The use of color also helps create a world that feels completely different from anything else. It makes the game even more unsettling. The characters are decent too. They’re likeable enough that you genuinely want to see them succeed.
Now, let’s talk about the enemies.
I think they look genuinely frightening, and the way they behave makes them even scarier. The stealth sections can be frustrating at times, but playing on Story Mode meant I didn’t mind them too much. I can understand why some people find these sections annoying. Especially towards the end of the game, where things can get a bit excessive. Still, the enemies are interesting, fit the game’s atmosphere and aesthetic perfectly, and do their job well.
Of course, not every part of the game is perfect. Some sections drag on a little too long, and certain gameplay elements can become repetitive. I understand why this might bother some players, but for me, these issues only affected a relatively small portion of the experience.
The story isn’t bad either. However, the game sometimes feels like it’s building towards a huge revelation, only for the ending to arrive rather abruptly. I would have liked a little more payoff after all that buildup.
Overall, I think *Silent Hill: Townfall* is a very interesting addition to the franchise. Despite its flaws, it delivers an experience that I genuinely enjoyed. The great atmosphere, memorable moments, interesting locations, fantastic sound design and music, frightening enemies, decent puzzles, and engaging story more than make up for its weaker parts.
I’m glad we get to wander through another foggy town.

PC looking for a disturbing RPG horror game disguised as a slice of life i played some years ago
Copypasta from a post i made on tipofmyjoystick, had no luck there and i'd really want to find this game so i'm coming here to see if maybe someone played this game and can give me the name/download.
I remember playing this game some years ago (like 2019-21), i think it was near the start of the pandemic but i really can't remember when. I'm sure i didn't download it from steam, and it looked a lot like an rpg maker/ wolf rpg game, though i'm not really sure. The game is divided in days, you play as a student by day and have dreams at night, during the day you go to school, go to the convenience store, take out the trash and bla bla bla, at night you have dreams (like for example i remember the first one you just walk around a small farm and explore it a bit). I remember vividly that this game felt really off.
it lasted a while, had a big map and loads of npcs, which were unusually well coded (they would change position and move around depending on the time of day), and you could explore a lot of the city and find little secrets or even routine stuff. Around day 4 you started experiencing light glitches (like the audio freezing or looping, the dialogue box opening randomly, or i remember clearly a random error only saying "?") and sometimes you could click on paintings or photos, like for example a photo on the table, and get a real polaroid photo of like a dark forest or of an empty parking lot with weird text on them. still, these events were really rare
Around this time the NPCS would start randomly (but also real rarely) get corrupted and say weird things instead of the usual lines. I also remember some people disappeared (and you very well could miss it, because they often change locations so it all depended on you exploring and finding some random npcs who were gossiping about disappearances, if not, you could probably go hours without noticing). I also remember that if you looked in some parts of the city while exploring you could find hidden a black figure (like a silhoutte of an NPC) that just stood still, and when you talked to it the game would just say "No one".
Towards the 7/8th day the dreams kept getting more weird and the real photos stared looking like really pixelated/edited gore (could be scenes from movies or heavy editing though, these images flashed on screen really fast when looking at those paintings/photos and it was really rare and random) until the last dream, where you look around inside an abandoned house, and i really have that part impressed in my mind. Basically while you explore you find a photo, you look at it and it's two black figurse who look like a couple holding hands, totally black with only 2 realistic eyes open wide looking at you, and the text "then one day, my world was shattered". you spend like 10 seconds stuck on that photo, the audio loops and gets really loud, then it stops and you hear a loud scream from a woman (it sounded REALLY real), then the PNG of what looked like a realistic dismembered torso (kinda like the one from Utahonotatari) appears and starts chasing you. I stopped playing the game right as that happened as 1) i was young and scared shitless and 2) i was terrified of the thought of having gore on my pc.
Anyway, the game started out looking like a normal SOL for the first hour/two depending on how much you explore, it looked really chaotic but also strangely well made, especially for such a hidden game. I remember some scenes and details mostly because they had a big impact on me so ask if you have any questions. I don't remember the title at all but i'm pretty sure it was something in English with a subtext in Japanese (not sure if it was a Jrpg though or just trying to look like one)

Silver Pines and getting soft locked, how likely is it?
I heard from some reviews that it’s quite possible and even easy to soft lock yourself by being too trigger happy? Is this valid?
Wondering if I should bump the difficulty down to prevent this. I don’t mind friction in games but I do absolutely mind being unaware I cannot complete them Q

PC Hellraiser Revival
I’m currently playing Silent Hill Townfall and Fatal Frame 2 Crimson Butterfly Remake and while i love both of the games i’m wondering if Hellraiser Revival is worth it? How does it compare to these 2 games? Is it better? Thanks for answers :)

DISCUSSION What's your opinion on "Still Wakes The Deep"?
When I completed it a couple of months ago I found this game amazing. I am in love with the atmosphere and this damn feeling that you're completely helpless cuz you're in the middle of the ocean and you can't explain wtf is happening to y'all

DISCUSSION Does anyone have any recommendations for Horror Games with Witch / Salem type themes?
My wife and I are huge fans of paranormal / witch themes in horror media. I am pretty new to the steam store and don't know of any hidden gems. We looked at 1666 Amstedam but it looks AWFUL. Looking for something more horror oriented. We loved Luto and Visage and Madison but thought something more witchcraft oriented would be RAD. But am looking for recommendations for these type games across all platforms. Console and PC. Looking for something spooky for Halloween season. Thanks everyone!

Turning my digital library into a cassette collection
Haven’t owned a physical collection in a number of years and I can’t bring myself to buy physicals of games I have digitally, so I decided I’d compromise with myself and start putting soundtracks for my favorite games on cassette. I photoshopped the cases myself from images pulled from steamgriddb. Buying soundtracks from smaller devs is also a nice way to support the studio a bit extra. Ripped from digital onto tape. Thought I’d share.

DISCUSSION A little progress update on my horror game, Woodbound
I haven’t had much time to work on Woodbound lately because I’ve been traveling, but I wanted to share some of the stuff I managed to get done before leaving.
First, I got the oil machine working! The model isn’t finished yet, but gameplay-wise, it works. You need 3 wooden effigies to make 1 fuel for your lantern, and the process isn’t exactly safe.
I also added a mechanic where holding the left mouse button turns your lantern red and reveals hidden threats that you normally can’t see.
Another thing I worked on is the knocking mechanic. Your house is supposed to be a safe place, but sometimes you’ll hear someone knocking on the door. You can open it or ignore it, but opening it comes with risks. Ignoring it is usually the safer option, but what if you’re running low on lantern fuel and really need help?
I wanted these mechanics to create situations where the player has to think twice before making a decision instead of just following objectives.
One thing that’s important to me is that all of these mechanics are connected to the lore in some way. I don’t want things to exist just for the sake of gameplay; I want them to make sense within the world of Woodbound.
I’m still figuring things out, and there’s a lot left to do, but I’d love to hear what you guys think.
Does any of this sound interesting to you? Is there anything you’d change or do differently?

PC I made a boarding house where the landlady has 3 rules. Play it in the dark.
Hi! I’m a solo developer and this is my first horror game, made in Godot over the last 7 months.
The idea: it’s 1980, you rent a room in an old boarding house, and the landlady, Theodora, is the sweetest person you’ve ever met. She cooks for everyone, she knows every guest by name, and she only asks you to follow three simple rules. The game is about slowly realizing why those rules exist.
A few things I tried to do differently:
- No combat and no game overs that send you back. If she catches you, you wake up somewhere else and keep going. I wanted the fear to come from the house, not from replaying sections.
- Daily life first, horror second. You have dinner with the other guests, wash the dishes, take out the trash, sign the guest book. The scary parts only work because the normal parts feel real.
- The house changes at night. No flashlight in the first night, just moonlight coming down the stairs and whatever lamps you turn on. Turning a light on can also bring her to you.
- A film look from the late 70s and early 80s, with grain and a slightly washed out color, made with a custom post-process shader.
The hardest part so far was making her patrol feel believable: she stops, listens, checks hiding spots and talks to herself instead of just chasing you.
I’d love feedback on the atmosphere, especially the lighting at night and the sound. What makes a quiet horror game scary for you?

DISCUSSION Looking for general advise to get over my fear
I got the new Hellraiser game. I played for about an hour and I really like it but an important part of this discussion is I am extremely squeamish not by gore and body-horror but by horror in general. Creepy atmospheres, jump scares, etc.
I started a personal endeavor years ago to build up my horror tolerance and its worked so far but I've hit a snag, supernatural and first person perspectives. These reasons are why I couldn't fully enjoy the last three Silent Hill games and Resident Evil 7.
I've played most of the Resident Evil games, all of the Dead Island, Dying Light, and Dead Space series, and I'm really enjoying Alone in the Dark Remake. I've watched several horror movies too but I can't remember their names as they are foreign.
I really want to play Hellraiser but it has both my weaknesses. My usual exposure therapy isn't working in fact I think I lose all my tolerance when I try to play it alone at night. I live alone so getting someone to play it with me is not a reliable or consistent method.
I'm looking at where I can watch the Hellraiser movies but its not really the plot that bothers me so I don't think it would help much that I know the context and lore.
Anyway if you've gotten this far thanks for your patience and I would really appreciate some advice on this matter.

DISCUSSION Thoughts?
I'm really curious how everyone feels about Friday the 13th the game, I really enjoyed the game & the whole concept of it; it was so much fun & I was really heartbroken when the game was no longer available or letting you play online. I know they made a similar concept of the game but with Michael Meyers but its just not the same 😢
