Hey guys,
I am the EIC of RelyOnHorror.com. I had the random idea to pitch our new Discord to the mod team here as an official server for this subreddit, and they were all up for it! So, if you look at the subreddit home, you will now see a direct link to our Discord server -- where you'll be able to talk about the genre with fellow fans. We'll hold general and spoiler discussions, the occasional giveaway and let you know when new content from us has (or will) drop.
Thanks to the mods for the love. Happy to offer a Discord community for you all as fellow fans of the survival horror genre. Here's the Discord link: https://discord.gg/fXCKMer.
Quick background on Rely on Horror - we're a horror gaming site that originally began as REHorror.net. I joined after closing my own horror gaming site, HellDescent.com. We post news, reviews, articles, previews, videos, etc. Happy to chime in if you're curious about the site or Discord. Thanks!

I assume this is a glitch since this i the first time it happened but after fighting the slug thing in the peep show I went back to the store to resupply and it's empty of ammo, recipes, weapons etc other than the bare basics.
I do have multiple saves, usuaully ona rotation so always oversaving my oldest file. And even on my oldest file, the store is fucked... so the glitch seems to have happened when I first accessed it and got the assault rifle.
Will the store reset and start selling shotgun shells and assault rifle ammo, or has this fucked my game?

I've created a new game similar to P.T. games. Will it be successful? + This is a preliminary image

Hey everyone! I've been developing Nightmare Exorcist: Escape from the Nightmare Realm, a gothic survival horror game inspired by classic handheld aesthetics.
The core loop focuses on navigating shifting corridors using a lantern, managing item resources, and surviving turn-based tactical encounters.
I'd love to hear from fellow survival horror fans: what are your favorite atmosphere or tension-building mechanics in retro horror games? (Happy to share a link in the comments if anyone wants to check it out!)

We've been getting fed this year.
Requem was amazing. SH Townfall was good (not my favorite because of the focus on stealth, but a solid game overall). Silver Pines is an absolute gem and might just be my favorite game of the year. I'm currently playing through Hellraiser Revival and loving the creativity.
Planning to play Tenebris Somnia next, it looks dope.
What are y'all's fave survival horror games of the year? Any hidden gems?

Silent Hill had its piano puzzle, RE had its own timed moments. Where do you draw the line between tension and frustration?

Neil Druckmann, the mind behind The Last of Us, once called the original 2003 release "the scariest kind of experience in any medium." Not just the scariest game, but the scariest art piece in existence. That claim holds because of how the game weaponizes Mio and Mayu's relationship, translating codependency into one of the best horror stories I've ever experienced.
The game starts with the comfort of being with your twin companion only to rip her away after the first chapter. Rather than just having the horror of isolation take over, the game constantly forces you to chase apparitions of Mayu slipping away just barely missing her at every turn. What begins as Mio's debt of protection slowly contorts into something agonizing: control. And the deeper the sisters sink into the village, the clearer it becomes that the "people" they encounter aren't just reflections of themselves but warnings. The Amakura sisters are biologically and spiritually destined to repeat a generational cycle of ritualistic murder. Every step you take to save Mayu only drags both sisters closer to completing the ritual. Mio becoming her sister's executioner, and walking away forever marked by that guilt, is one of the cruelest resolutions in gaming history.Â

Hey survival horror fans! Hope you are well.
Just wanted to share my new game trailer that I released a few days ago about a horror game that I am creating by myself which is mostly inspired by a Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Outlast and also a real life location in Mexico!
The game is a survival psychological horror game, mixed in with some Mexican Folklore as well.
Do let me know what you think of the new trailer! Mostly in this trailer I just wanted to show off the environment and ambiance that I am going for, as in the game I am currently focusing on ambiance horror rather then jumpscares and such so it's going to be a bit different then what I usually do.
It would mean the world to me as a solo developer if you can wishlist, share the game and tell me your feedback as it really helps me out a ton! :)

Thank you all so much and do let me know what you think, appreciate you all!

Quick background: I've loved CDDA for years, but every friend I've tried to get into it bounced off the controls and the learning curve. So this year I started making Rotland, a 2D zombie survival sandbox inspired by Cata, with pixel art, modern controls, cleaner menus and a proper tutorial. The goal is to keep that ridiculous depth while making it easier to actually get into.
What's in so far:
- An Earth-sized procedural world with towns, cities, railroads and airports
- 229 building types, 2,400+ items, 500+ pieces of clothing
- Limb damage, bleeding, infections, illness and dismemberment
- Crafting, farming, fishing, construction and skills
- Vehicles built part by part, including mobile bases, plus trains, boats, helicopters and planes
- Fire that spreads, weather, scent, noise and zombie hordes
- Data-driven and built with modding in mind
Would love to hear what you think!
The Steam page will be live next week.

Developer disclosure: I’m posting on behalf of the SILVERPINE CREEK team.
We have updated our released PS5 survival horror game with an even more aggressive Witch Korana. Voice-sensitive gameplay uses the DualSense controller’s built-in microphone: speaking can reveal your position.
You investigate missing tourists in an abandoned village through bodycam/VHS-style found footage. There are no weapons; awareness, timing and a camera flash are your means of survival. The update is about making the witch feel more threatening while your own voice becomes another risk.
This post is about the PS5 title. Official PlayStation Store page with screenshots and game details:

Just was recently rewatching it for the lead up to halloween and couldnt belive how much h it reminded me of silent hill. I dont want to spoil for those that havnt healed with it but it deals with themes of limbo, guilt and death. It also mentions at least 2 names from silent hill 2. If this movie was a silent hill game it would fit perfectly. I'm suprised I didnt see any connection between the two online already! What does anyone else think that has seen over and played silent hill 2?
