DISCUSSION Still Wakes the Deep

Gave this game a try since it is free on PS+ right now and its very well reviewed, LOVE the vibe/atmosphere but the gameplay is realllllly boring, does it get any better in the 2nd half? Im just over 2 hours in which is about the halfway point since the game is 4-5 hours long and as much as I enjoy the story and setting the "gameplay" is pretty much walk in a straight line and follow the yellow paint. Even with the yellow paint turned to reduced (cant fully turn it off) its EVERYWHERE which feels extra unnecessary since the game is basically a straight line, could not get lost even if you wanted to. What did others think of this game? It feels more like a rollercoaster ride or interactive movie to me, and its been a cool ride so far but I am pretty surprised to see it so well received when theres really no gameplay or exploration at all you kind of just walk around while the story happens around you.

PC What's the appeal of Visage?

I wanted to give this game its chance but it's never scary and more tedious. I'm still at Rakan chapter and is trying to push through cause the other two chapters are apparently great, like eating the veggies first before steak.

Controls are insufferable, opening a door felt like John Visage is trying to use the force, focusing hard just to slide open a door like c'mon bro. Hoping that the other two chapters turn to a massive improvement, both in flow and puzzles.

I see alatta folks sayin they can hunt real life Wendigoo and not feel fear but apparently, this game made them keep one eye open in their sleep.

Hope my horror game binge ends up with a bang in this game despite the slow start, played DS: Remake, SH2: Remake and Alien Isolation for the first time and didn't feel too scared. Except the Alien nest and Toluca Prison šŸ˜…, those two made me lock in

INTERVIEW Questions for a game I’m making

I’m making a psychological horror game and would love your help by answering some questions, or just picking one that you’d like to answer.

  1. What was something from a psychological horror that you still think about today?

  2. What is an everyday object that you have an irrational unease about?
(For example, the oven in my house has hooks that help it stay closed, when the oven is open the hooks point directly up, they make me nervous around them)

  3. What do you think is essential in a haunted house?

  4. What terrified you the most about your favorite horror media?

  5. What’s one thing that could change about where you live for you to be uncomfortable living there?

Guys I absolutely love horror games

My favourites are

1) Silent hill 2 Remake

2) Alan wake 2

3) Resident evil 8

4) The Evil within 2

Apart from them I have played

Mostly all the re games , alan wake , evil within 1

I don't like games like outlast, amnesia where i can't fight back so please don't recommend me games like them

I like games where I can fight back doesn't matter by guns or in a stealthy way or melee

Recommend me some more games like them ?

Thanks in advance for recommendation

What horror games can I play with a group of 5?

Hi so recently a few friends and I decided to try horror games.

At first it was 4 of us in total and we played pacify. We had alot of fun and really enjoyed the indie style of the game. Once we completed it we wanted to play another game and another friend asked to join so we played backrooms. We enjoy the scary horror style but now its like we want to play more horror games but it needs to allow 5 players. BTW we all play on ps5.

Your recommendations will highly be appreciated.

CONSOLE What horror games should I get into on the ps3?

I’m looking to get into more horror games on the PS3. I’m currently playing Condemned 2: Bloodshot and want to know what other horror games are worth checking out.

Also actively looking for a hard copy of Silent Hill Downpour but the market is insane prices right now, it’s the only game you can’t get digitally on the Xbox store, well also Town-fall but it’s because it’s an exclusive for ps5 I believe

When I completed it a couple of months ago I found this game amazing. I am in love with the atmosphere and this damn feeling that you're completely helpless cuz you're in the middle of the ocean and you can't explain wtf is happening to y'all

End of Abyss was really fun and you should give it a shot

Gameplay: the awkwardness of the twin stick controls makes for that classic feeling of being an untrained and unprepared normal human. Missing crucial shots as the enemies slowly lumber towards you made combat tense no matter how improved your kit was. Also blindly firing through a door at a noise you hear followed by a body slumping on the ground always made me smile. The enemy respawns were slightly tedious but with all the backtracking the game requires it does at least keep your brain occupied. The exploration is great. Game has stellar environment design.

Sound: it’s amazing. Maybe the only place it falters is the weapon sounds. For a game inspired by dead space it saddened me that the weapons didn’t get noisier with upgrades. But the music stings, creature noises, and ambient hum of the abyss more than make up for it. The music will also incorporate themes of the monsters you will encounter in a particular area

Story: it’s there guess and it’s enough to keep you chugging along. I wish the notes and journal entries you found were longer. Most are only a sentence or two in length.

Visuals: incredible. So many environmental details. Every single frame has a story to tell of what went wrong and how the people caught up in it tried to react. And oh my god the containment sector is going to go down as one of the coolest and most visually striking levels I’ve ever played.

Overall vibes: this is harder to materialize but something I liked is just how oppressive this game is. From the way the characters interact and speak to each other, the nature of the abyss, and the vagueness of your mission in it I get the vibe that this is not a pleasant world to live in. It gives me a similar vibe to Cronos where the world is hell and you just exist in it long enough to die horribly and be immediately replaced.

The Hunt For The Wampo

I wrote a little tactical horror game. I’m not sure if it’s a proper horror game, but it managed to scare me.

It is complete finished and released for free. I would be happy about a every comment. Ā

Inspired by the original Wumpus Game from the late 70s, mixed with Minesweeper tactics in a first person 3D enviroment.
