hi everybody! I wanted to open a discussion regarding smoking lounges. I recognize this post will probably not be appreciated, but I feel it’s a conversation worthy of having.
I utilize cannabis for medical purposes; I have severe chronic illness and lots of allergies to medication, leaving cannabis the only safe option that works for me. With my chronic illness, I have virtually no digestion, so edibles are not an option, and vapes are not strong enough.
I utilize smoking cannabis to be able to eat, and to mitigate my pain so I can function for the day.
With this said, I am someone who likes to follow the rules, who enjoys building community, and who absolutely does not want to be a nuisance to anybody. I feel guilt walking on the street smoking when someone passes with their child; I try to switch sides of the street, I’ll avoid a block if I see a stroller, I try to be very careful. It seems impossible to be able to consume here without being a nuisance though. In my apartment search, every place was no smoking, and I could not afford a balcony.
The local dispensaries seem to be blocked from making any kind of controlled-smoking spaces such as a smoking lounge for people to consume and relax without worrying about bothering others. I was wondering if anyone has insight as to why a controlled, low-key consumption lounge option (such as a study space that allows smoking) is banned from Hoboken? I feel like this seems like the perfect option for both getting smokers off the street/making cleaner air for families and allowing people to consume cannabis without worry of being a bother. With winter coming it also is getting difficult to smoke outside, but I would never want to bother my neighbors. So I feel like a consumption lounge would be even more beneficial to allow people to smoke somewhere inside in the winter instead of trying to make it work but smelling up the apartment complex regardless?
Does anybody have solutions for how they deal with smoking, or how they wish others dealt with smoking here? Is there general support for a consumption lounge?
Edit: if you’re anti consumption lounge, I want to hear your thoughts! I can get behind something if I understand why. But right now it seems like something potentially beneficial to everybody is being blocked?

Anyone else experience a car break in within the past week on Monroe St between 9th-10th near ShopRite? Our car was broken into and papers were everywhere but nothing missing or damaged.

Has anyone taken the bus during rush hour since they’ve closed the ramps into PABT? How has it been?

No word in any of the sources what resulted in the "difficult decision" to cancel the parade

Are there any groups similar to run groups made for people looking to get into triathlons within the area?

I've been in a fully remote data analyst role for a while, and I've realized I'd rather be in a hybrid or in-person setup where I can work closely with a team and keep growing.
My background is mostly Salesforce and Health Cloud, SQL, ETL and data migration, data mapping, validation and reconciliation, QA/UAT, integrations and API work, and client-facing technical projects. I've also done some healthcare AI testing (chatbots and voice bots). I'd like to move toward data engineering, analytics, AI, or healthcare tech.
I'd love to hear from anyone who has made a similar switch:
Which industries or types of companies are strong for data and analytics work right now?
What skills are most in demand at the moment?
I've mostly been applying through career sites and rarely hear back. Is there a better approach?
Happy to hear general advice or experiences from your own job search. Thanks in advance!

This happened around 4PM - 5 PM on Saturday, October 17th.
My lanyard snapped without me realizing while I was biking on my route home. It contained a good amount of items that I needed: keys, my school ID and a pokemon card in a plastic id holder.
My route home was long and spanned a wide area. If I have time, I would draw a route, but I know it spanned from Hoboken through Jersey City (around 2 miles). I crossed through
If anyone has seen this or knows anything, please let me know.

I run a small business and we currently have a receiving PO Box in Franklin Lakes, but our Bergen County representation is retiring so we’re looking to move our box closer to Hoboken. Does anyone have any experience with PO Boxes in Hoboken, and would you recommend them based on price/customer service? FWIW I do have a car, so it could be outside of Hoboken, but there’s also a non-zero chance I move into NYC eventually so it may be nice to have it near a PATH/NJ Transit stop.
Any recs or thoughts are greatly appreciated!!!

what's the general consensus? Do you guys like Qdoba? I used to eat it all the time when I was in college and loved it. This is my second time going to the Hoboken location and I'm disappointed. Its nothing close to what I remember!

Sharing in case anyone is looking for a 2BR/2BA at Juliana in Hoboken. I’m moving and looking for someone interested in taking a new lease directly through the building.
The building has a great gym, courtyard, concierge, kids’ area, and excellent maintenance. Light Rail is a 2-minute walk away, with coffee shops and restaurants nearby.
Interested? Comment or DM me, and I can share pictures or more details.

I’m looking to host a super affordably priced engagement party in Hoboken. Would love to have food included and we can BYO booze. ~45 people or less, mid-November, ideally in Hoboken or the immediate surrounding area commutable from NYC. Also open to art galleries or other event spaces but would like to keep costs super low if possible, $1k or less preferred.
Thanks in advance!

I’m sure this has been posted before so feel free to refer me to the right place to continue my…rant and frustration.
But wtf Hoboken. There now at least 3 new apt buildings / high raises popping up on Willow to Bloomfield near Observer - and where TF do you expect these people to go?
I’ve been a hoboken downtown resident for almost a decade now, and the foot traffic, cars, people, the fckin PATH and gyms are going to be ridiculous packed - it’s already getting bad trying to get out of the area and these things aren’t even fully developed yet.
And don’t even get me started on that apt building they’re building on the other side of Observer Hwy across from Washington intersection - like seriously wtf is the point of that? I thought it was gonna be an NJ transit office building until that shit kept going up.
Like honestly, who’s approving these and what was the thought process? I can’t be the only one.
Okay I’m done.

Since Ravi left haven’t seen any more chargers. All these new buildings on the upper west side (uptown west lol) and no chargers no nothing.
C’mon Emily - what the hell
