Worried about my boy with new baby on the way

Post image

I’ve had my boy Rocky for just over a year now and he’s the light of my life. We’re expecting our first baby in a few weeks and we’ve starting moving furniture around, buying baby things etc to prepare for baby’s arrival.

Rocky has his own room and we haven’t touched anything in there we would like for him to have his own space still when baby comes so he has his safe, quiet place to go to if he’s annoyed by crying/loud sounds.

We started rearranging stuff earlier this week and we’re getting our backyard landscaped as well so Rocky hasn’t been able to go outside which he normally loves. What’s worrying me is he hasn’t been eating properly for the last week. He’ll nibble then walk around the house then nibble then stop. He goes for walks with no issue and takes his treats still and all other behaviours are normal.

I’m feeling quite sad and worried that my boy might be feeling stressed and anxious about all these changes. Does this warrant a vet visit and if not what can we do to make it easier for him? Photo of my boy included for tax.

Personal Mr. Reeves - My Black Grey

I’d like everyone to meet Mr. Reeves, our ex-racing greyhound! Getting a greyhound is genuinely one of the best things we’ve ever done.

Seeing the difference in him now, from how much he’s come out of his shell and simply learning how to be a dog is amazing. He’s made friends of all shapes and sizes and is honestly just the best boy.

He’s four and a half years old now, and we’ve been lucky enough to have him since January.

He was actually "disqualified" from racing after a huge accident that required over 60 stitches. Amazingly, he didn’t break a single bone and only has the scar left to show for it now.

I'm a bit surprised how smooth it went but the outcome is what I had in my mind.

We got ourselves a little kitten, the name is Cooper and Stip seems to take care about his new packmember.

He's watching, washing and they sleep together

Has anybody else experienced this issue??

We rescued Twiggy about 6 months ago and she has really adjusted to the home life. The one issue we are having however is her peeing inside. It seems to be random but there are a few key things to know.

  1. It seems to only happen when we leave her alone. It is not every time we leave but that seems to be the common factor when she does.
  2. She has a an extra skin fold over her vagina which the vet knows about. We have talked about surgery to reduce it but in the mean time we were told to lightly wipe/dab her everytime she comes in from peeing to get rid of the moisture.
  3. It seems that every single time we wipe/dab she has some sort of brownish discharge. It varies on how much though. She also will occasionally get long strongly clear/yellow discharge. We have taken her to the vet but she comes back negative for UTIs or bacterial infections. It should be noted she IS spayed.
  4. Anytime she pees inside it tends to be on our guest bed. This is her absolute favorite spot on the house which is confusing.
  5. Sometimes when she pees it’s cause we are out late (which we get, cause it’s not her schedule) but other times, like today, was only 2 hours after we left mid day and we had taken her out right before we left.
  6. She is able to sleep through the night and hold 9-10 hours when she wants to.
  7. She is not a big eater but is ABSOLUTELY a big drinker.

[EDIT] Additional thoughts. She absolutely has shown behavior that proves she knows not to pee inside. Even when she really has to go she is very good at alerting to us and understands outside is where it needs to be done. So it’s not like she doesn’t know better.

Just need some help!

We had to put down our Lou today. It all happened suddenly after a growth was found in his spine. He had just passed the year mark after amputation for osteosarcoma which had made it all the more painful. We really thought we were in the clear.

He loved stale bread and high grass. Really fucking hated flies. He would leave the room if there was one.

Anyway I just wanted you to see how great he was. I'll miss him forever

Advice Training advice - he’s too clever!

Looking for some advice on how we can approach this annoying habit that Ben (4) has developed!

We live on a ground floor flat with steps down to the garden level from a communal stairs.

Whenever we’re going out into the garden, he goes up the stairs to the upper floors because he knows that he'll get treats to come down. He’s not drawn to anything, it’s not that he’s smelling something or has a friend up there. It seems purely driven by the knowledge that we’ll fold and give him treats to come down.

If we avoid treats and wait it out, he’ll gradually go up more floors. He ears go deaf to recall. He just looks at us and the only way to get him down is either to carrying him or to throw treats on every few steps.

EDIT:

Coming back in, he also then waits on the threshold of our door. Same at night when he waits at our bedroom door threshold. He’s learning that his stubbornness gets treats - but his stubbornness seems unbeatable any other way!

Personal Any US people in need of HoundTees?

With winter approaching I placed an order for some HoundTees for my guy. It’s his first winter in my care and I misjudged the sizing on HoundTees and now have 3 items from them that do not fit my greyhound. Because of tariffs and such I had to spend a minimum amount to get that covered and returning them would be another large expense.

They are all size large and I would be willing to ship to someone in the US if you can cover shipping costs, I just don’t want them to sit in a drawer if someone else has use for them. I can post pictures if anyone is interested, I have a tweater, a sweater, and a sweater with arms.

TLDR-size large HoundTees up for grabs for US folks.

ETA- ALL ITEMS HAVE BEEN CLAIMED. US people who can’t justify HoundTees expense (I don’t blame you the prices are pretty crazy) I’ve also ordered from speed noodles co and duds4buds on Etsy, they are US Etsy shops and are really awesome quality too, not quite the sweatshirt material that hound tees is but they do the job :)

Advice Greyhound people I call upon you, jumper fabric reccos!

Hello! I come in peace. I have a four year old borzoi whose spine is causing him some trouble. While we manage this and perform diagnostics/consider surgery, I'm looking for something to keep him cozy as per the recommendation of our vet.

Thing is, he's quite a coated boy and I feel polar fleece would be far too warm for him, but cotton would be too thin also. Any manufacturers on here that could chime in?

My dearest idiot sends his snooty regards.

She’s 4 months old and mostly house trained. Please help…she wants my duvet as her toilet. I’ve had to wash and dry it three times this week, with bicarbonate of soda and vinegar. Nothing seems to stop her, but I still need a duvet this winter! I feel like I’m going out of my mind. What am I doing wrong?

Advice Help! Greyhound Struggling with Potty Training

Hello! We recently adopted our sweet boy about a month and a half ago. He is a 3 year old male ex-racing greyhound, and we love him so much.

He is very confident, goofy, and energetic for an ex-racer this early into home life, but with that being said we’ve been lucky that he’s taken almost everything about this new transition in stride.

The only thing that we’ve continued to struggle with is him peeing in the house. He didn’t have a history of potty issues with his fosters, but in his first month with us he had 6 accidents inside. We quickly remediated and got super tight with belly banding and keeping him close to us in doors, and all had been well (no accidents) for almost 3 weeks - until now.

We anticipated some potential “marking” behavior - but this is just him full on peeing in the house. Whenever this happens, he doesn’t give us any indication that he needs to go out, just kind of starts peeing and doesn’t make any attempt to wine or go to the door (like he often will). It has happened twice that he’ll eat his dinner and then run immediately to pee somewhere in the house. He is usually happy afterwards and doesn’t seem to understand that he did something wrong (which is good in a sense that he’s not scared/ nervous, but knowing that going indoors is bad is the goal).

Our walk schedule is usually 5 10-30 minute walks a day (wake up, around breakfast, lunch, home from work/dinner, before bed). We also have a dog walker come on days when we both go into work to make sure he never has to hold it that long.

We did get him checked for a UTI and he is perfectly healthy🙂 if anyone has any experience with this behavior please chime in! We just want to better understand what’s going on and how we can prevent it.

Thank you all!❤️

Advice Advice on walking a senior

Post image

I’m on vacation and I don’t get to see my brother‘s dog a whole lot. But whenever I’m here she always wants to go for a walks, she only gets one once a day and it’s for about a kilometre and a half. When she gets back home, she’s always excited to go back out again whenever somebody leaves the house. Since I’ve been here, I’ve been going on walks on the trail that is according to my phone 4.8 km long. When she sees me go, she wants to go with me. She is young at heart but at age 13 is a near 5 km walk maybe too much for her? Her hind leg can get a little sore, but other than that, she is a very healthy dog.
