Girlfriend Tossed My Stack

Eight years ago I was single and stacking slowly — a couple of 1oz gold buffalos, a 1oz PAMP bar, some 5g PAMPs, a few rings, and about $8k cash. No proper safe, so I did the smart thing and put all of it in an empty Quaker Oats cylinder in the kitchen cabinet. Taped it shut because it was stupidly heavy.
Then I got a girlfriend. One afternoon she decided to surprise me by clearing out my expired dry goods. She found a sealed, suspiciously heavy oat canister and threw it out with everything else. Trash day was the next morning.
I got home, opened the cabinet, and just stood there. Empty shelf. Spotless. I called her and asked, very calmly, what she did with the oats. Long pause. Then I explained what was inside.
She cried. I think I laughed, which was worse. She offered to pay it back. We worked it out, and honestly it's the reason I trust her — she never once tried to dodge it or blame me for storing bullion like a raccoon.
Anyway, gold was around $1,300/oz then. I've rebuilt the stack, in an actual safe, and I still flinch every time someone reorganizes a kitchen.
Anyone else lose a stack to a well-meaning partner?

I’m so proud of it, but every time I buy gold I get a kick on how tiny in weight the buys are compared to silver

I’m not self conscious of my AGE, it’s the perfect size she said, not too big, not too small

Wondering what ready thinks and can tell me about this coin, not a collector but was gifted this one a while back. Thanks! Curious as to what Reddit thinks this can be worth?

A friend of mine into art deco lighters buys and sells any help on the gold content?

A beautiful 14k outer jacket Dunhill Auto-Rollalite. Comes in its original green leather holder. It is always difficult to determine actual gold amount with “outer jacket” or “outer case” lighters . I did search a little because i don’t want to offer this for less than its gold value. That number appears to be around $2800. In any event, I would never melt it, it’s too nice.

Those who have bought Gold at Costco, how are the prices compared to LCS and online dealers? I don't have a membership and it won't let me see the prices to compare

I want to pick up some gold bars and saw that Costco carries precious metals. I went online, but it won't let me see the prices, so I can't compare them with everyone else. Is it worth it? I would only be getting the membership to pick up about 4-5 gold bars, a platinum bar, and some silver as well. I don't shop at Costco since I have a Sam's Club membership. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Also, how does the 2% work? I would pair it with my CITI card that also pays 2% cash back.

Trying to figure out exactly what this is. The old holder says Alexander III “the Great” gold stater.

Can anyone help identify the specific type, mint, and approximate date?

Weight: 8.336 grams
Diameter: 18.4–18.5 mm
Thickness: approximately 3 mm at the highest point

Photos of both sides, the edge, and the old holder included. Appreciate any insight!

Speculation Gold at 4200

This may have been brought up before so forgive me if it has. Does anyone else find it a little intriguing that gold is hanging around at $4200 a while here considering it sits on the books at $42. Maybe it's a psychological level

So the USD has retained only 1% of its value since 1973
