Budget: $3500 CAD (a little flexible)
Country: Canada
Use Case: Games like Anno, Planet Zoo, RDR2, Crimson Desert, newer games
Preferred Specs / Form Factor: 15-16", battery doesn't matter, 5070ti or 5080, 32gb ram, I like sleek designs like Zephyrus, Razer Blade, Legion etc..
Portability Needs: Desktop replacement
Notes: I have an Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 with a RTX 4050 6gb, i7-12700H, and 16gb of ram. I feel the bottleneck from the GPU and ram with new games, and it gets so hot it can burn my fingers if I come off the keyboard and touch the chassis, even raised with good airflow. I've also had some other minor issues with it since I got it. It was cheap and on sale and I had no laptop when I got it, definitely more of a what I could afford situation. I want to keep this as a computer for school and get a desktop replacement laptop for gaming.
I like the chassis of the Zephyrus for looks.
Lenovo Legion Pro 7i is obviously nice but it is out of budget where I am ($5000 CAD right now $900 off). The 5i with a RTX 5070 and 32gb is $2600 with no sale right now, but I don't know if I should go for a 5080. The MSI Vector A16 with a RTX 5080 32gb is $1000 off sitting at $3500 but I don't know if I trust MSI, and that's the top of my budget. Primarily looking at Memory Express because it's accessible to go in person.
I am a single mom so anything is a big purchase and I want to be thoughtful about it this time, and gaming is my main hobby living in rural Canada and winter is coming haha. I've saved up for something nicer that will hopefully last around 5 years.
Any advice is appreciated. I just want games to be pretty and run smooth and to be able to have shadows turned on. Usually a custom desktop girly but this season of life calls for a laptop.
