Honestly, it’s a decent foldable in a vacuum. I know most Apple users will see it that way. But as someone that’s used foldables since 2020, this is closer to a 2023 foldable than a current one.
iPhone duo still has some amazing pros and some annoying cons. Here’s my list, most of it is when I’m thinking of my amazing Fold 8 and fold 7.
Pros
1) Apple nailed the gestures to split screen. It’s one of the best out there, extremely easy.
2) Nano texture is good 80% of the time. But it can feel a bit muted.
3) The feel of it is amazing. In classic Apple fashion they made the duo feel like a piece of jewellery
4) Battery is actually really really good!
5) So glad MagSafe is still there.
Cons
1) It’s too heavy. It’s significantly heavier than my fold 8. Makes it very uncomfortable for long stretches
2) similarly, it’s much much thicker.
3) The side navigation bar or whatever sucks. It makes all the apps look terrible, optimised or not (photos attached). This is what I predicted since launch. It’s more and more evident now.
4) Cameras are meh but it’s not a dealbreaker for me. If you want a good camera, don’t go for a foldable.
5) So many apps are not optimised. A lot of them look terrible unfolded.
6) The under screen camera shows and it’s terrible it does.
7) Camera control is pointless apart from opening the camera. I would’ve much preferred the action button
8) Volume controls on top is so stupid. Apart portraits when opened, it never is easy to change the volume

There are already leaks suggesting that it will have a target thickness of ~8.9 mm when folded (Same thickness as a Galaxy Z Fold 7). Which I don't think is possible as it would require an unfolded thickness of less than 2.97mm, which seems impossible.
Not only would that be super fragile but also really difficult to include the USB C port. The absolute minimum internal opening of a USB C port must be 2.56 mm high, but a phone cannot just be an open hole. You have to account for metal housing and device chassis.
That being said, what would you like to see on the 2nd generation of Samsung's Trifold?

I really looked forward to testing out the Duo. I'm not an Apple hater, the opposite, I love what they do, but I'm definitely more of an Android person. I've had an iPhone before but switched back to Android and now I have the Z Fold 8 which i love.
Here is what i noticed when i tried the Duo.
I really thought that Apple made the perfect foldable but I have my doubts now.
How is your view on this?

Welp, made the switch to Android with a Galaxy S25 Edge May 2025 after nothing but iPhone. Switched to S26 Ultra one year later and got the fold bug and felt like I was 'missing' ios. So I pre-ordered the Duo (Nov 9 delivery)
I went to best buy to kick the tires of the iPhone 18 Pro. And boy did I not feel comfortable in ios anymore. No multitask, no Edge panel, no universal back, even getting to notifications is a mess. And there's plenty more just not for me anymore.
I roll on over to the Z Fold 8 and boom. THIS IS IT. Follow that with some of the Gen 1 software/HW issues of the Duo and videos showing physical failures and the ZF8 being more durable despite 'just IP48'. My mind was changed.
The Duo pre order was canceled yesterday and today I ordered a Z Fold 8 with 2 years of Samsung Care. :) I guess I'm now officially a Samsung Knight!
Thinking just using a dbrand leather skin and that's it! Can't wait!

I've been a Nexus/Pixel bro for a long time, but I want a small phone. Have for a long time. Can't stop loving my GF's iPhone 13 mini.
So what do people think of the Fold8 as a small screen phone if I was to not really use or need the inner display? How is it? Do they make any quality cases that keep it closed? Are there any actually nice cases in general?
Is the keyboard comfortable? One handed useable with the passport shape? Good quality display? App support acceptable?
How is the Samsung UI for someone who likes stock android?
Also, what is this thing called? The Z fold8? The fold8 wide?
Is it just one of those foldables with the general feeling that you're not supposed to use it closed because it's uncomfortable or doesn't fold perfectly?
Thanks!

As the title suggests - As a first time fold user I love this device I bought when it was launched in July and have seen alot of queries on here asking if it's worth getting the Zfold8.
With all the holiday sales/discounts coming up in the next few months I wanted to share a post talking about how much I enjoy this phone and what I like about it incase it may help folks make a decision.
It's really basic stuff so as power users this post will bore you 🫣.
Note - It's by far from the being perfect due to apps not being optimised but there's a lot of things to love about it. I'm just sharing my basic ways I use and love it.
- I love typing with both hands- the wide form factor is just perfect for it!
- I've never owned a tablet before and when unfolded the Zfold8 is just apt. I couldn't deal with a full size tablet so this is a perfect mini tablet.
- When reading I like that I can rotate it vertically and it gives me the feeling of reading on the kindle. I use the Pocketbook app.
- It's just perfect for gaming. I use emulators and a few android game on it. But yet to buy a gaming controller but don't yet have the money to buy it yet 😔
- For work I use alot of Copilot to soften and professionalise my emails as written text make me sound really direct! This works well to have Copilot on one side and Outlook on the other.
- Most day time use is for work and general use but I tend to watch YT and TV series at night most days before going to bed. At the mo I'm streaming ' The Terminal List' and loving it! I love any shows with armed forces or policing in it 😁
Anyway, these are just some of the reasons I love using the zfold8. Apart from these, customisations are on point with GoodLock.
I am sure I am just a basic user and many on here use it a lot more effectively.
If your usage matched mine and you a having second thoughts about getting it, just go for it if you get a good deal on it!
End of long post🤣

I bought this Fold 8 from FB Marketplace and it seems that the phone got reported stolen. I guess the deal was too good to be true lol. I feel like an idiot too because i met the seller at a T-Mobile store and had them look up the IMEI where they confirmed the phone was not financed or locked to any carrier so i thought it was good... money out the window

I'm on the fence right now, mainly for 2 reasons. I have a fold 6 I got on release. First, one of the speakers is starting to make crackling noises past a certain volume level. Second, the hinge is making a new noise it hasn't made before. Could be nothing serious, but it's something to consider. I've checked to see how much a fold 8 would be. Around $780-$945 before tax. That's after trade in and a discount I can use from my friends job. I'm wondering if anyone who got the fold 8 has anything actually bad to say about it, mainly just about the difference in phone shape. Anything else like crease or camera quality I don't care about at all. Some might say it's obvious, but just need that little extra push you know. Thanks for any input.

Created a fun cover, home, and inner screen set made to look like a certain famous pocket notebook. Custom made the stickers and icons but I don't have license to distribute. I did share the blank cover and wallpaper though. Enjoy!

Hi everyone!
I recently compared photos taken with my old Fold 4 and my new Fold 8 Ultra. While the overall image quality is definitely better on the new phone, I've noticed that the colors look noticeably less saturated and less true to life. I often have to edit my photos and increase the saturation to get the colors looking right.
I also compared the results with my wife's iPhone 17, and her photos seem much closer to the actual colors of the scenes. Interestingly, my old Fold 4 also produces more accurate-looking colors than my new Fold 8 Ultra.
I've gone through the camera settings but haven't been able to find anything that makes a difference.
Am I missing a setting that could explain this, or is this simply how the Fold 8 Ultra processes colors?
I'd appreciate any advice or suggestions. Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone,
As it’s been a while and I think some people here could have own the first Samsung foldable when it was released, what was your first experience with it at this time ? How did you lived the thing?

Hi. I was wondering if anyone tried this case or not. Since there is no real world pictures in the reviews.
It looks really cool. So I was wondering if it was good quality. Thanks.

So I’ve had my z fold 8 since launch. I preordered the Duo it will be here sometime in November. But I’m honestly considering canceling my order. I’ve owned every single model of iPhone. I gave the z fold 8 a chance and once I got to know the Ui and what I can do with Android. I honestly love this phone. I can do everything get every app, apk’s or whatever. I love point n click games, I can have gamehub and play my steam games. There is just so many options. I understand now 😎

In the past few days, I've noticed a green pixel on the bottom right of the inner screen of my Fold 8. I've had the Fold 8 since launch and this is definitely a new issue, possibly since the last software update. Initially I thought it was a dead pixel, but when I rotate from landscape to portrait, the green pixel moves to the bottom right in portrait. It's not just in apps, but also on the home screen. Does anyone have the same issue?
r/GalaxyFold • u/InformalGear9638 • 5h ago
I used to be able to mirror the display instead of using Dex if I wanted to but there seems to be no way to do that anymore. This gets in the way of apps with dual display functions. 😔

Hi all,
I'm currently in Physical Therapy and have daily exercises I need to do. I'm using Google tasks (they are daily & repeating at certain times). For example, I have 2 exercises that are supposed to remind me at 7:35a but the past two mornings I have only gotten the alert once I go into the app. See in the picture the alert was only for 8:59a instead of 7:35a. This is not usually an issue later in the day (as I have other exercises & other tasks later in the day and this has never been a problem). But I'm noticing this issue first thing in the morning all of a sudden. Any thoughts on what I should check?

This morning i woke up at 8, grabbed my phone off the charger, but the AOD was frozen on around 4:45 am, the phone was also extremely HOT and wouldn't turn on. I had to force reset the fold and it continued being hot the whole time it was frozen as well as a while after the reboot. The phone also didn't charge all the way. Has anyone else had this happen?
